Richarlison is so impressive for a kid who just hopped off the plane from Brazil and, if that BBC feature is anything to go by, has no idea what is going on half the time.
Got to agree with most on here, But I'll add my thoughts. Kabasele would of been motm if it wasn't for Doucoure. Doucoure, Cleverly and Chalobah really controlled that midfield. Carrillo and Ricky Allison very lively Ricky Allison needs to stop with the dramatic falling around Holebas and Kiko played well pushing forward defensively not really tested. And is Gray the new Amrabat lots of effort and no quality.
Gino will sell him to England for 50m and replace him with one of his teenage Colombians. Who will be even better.
Can you get a bet at the bookies on the player who will be fouled the most this season? I have a strong feeling our boy from Brazil will walk that one...
Unfortunately didn't see any of the game today, who all got injured? Crazy to think Mazzarri wanted rid of Doucoure Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
Quality away days boys, fans were superb, the team was brilliant defensively and offensively, and the result was very well deserved. We outplayed em in almost every position and even though I was worried with the subs (Marriappa especially), I was proven wrong, as the performance levels and work rate remained the same for the rest of the game. Also creaming myself over the idea of hearing Ian Wright and Jenas (or whoever is on MoTD tonight) saying that Watford were lucky, whilst contradicting themselves by saying Marco Silva will go and join a mahusive club like West Ham next season. My only little concern is Kiko's physicality as a defender. It's obvious that he's a converted RB from winger because it's clear that he struggles with tackling and outmuscling opposition players. Other than that, he looks very good on the break and a great support player for Carillo so he definitely has his qualities.
Here's some more. No home win all season. EDIT: Robbie Savage has just said we are playing "exceptional stuff" this season. Strange days indeed...
as someone on the Saints forum put it - "I've seen the morbidly obese get down quicker for a stick of celery than Forster get down to stop a shot."
On another note, it seemed like Southampton forgot their own minutes applause on 22 minutes. Nothing on the big screen apart from some kid taking a selfie and no reaction from their supporters. Seemed like we were the only ones who bothered.
I think he is one pundit who actually seems to have time for us he seemed genuinely impressed with us at the training ground the other day.
Southampton had one shot on goal - in injury time. So presume MOTD will manage to edit highlights making out we actually deserved to win this time!
Now Manure have drawn, by my reckoning, if Huddersfield lose on Monday and we win against Citeh we will be top of the league this time next week.
That was a very enjoyable away day. Even managed to get a lift from the missus while she took the kids to Southampton ikea and picked me up afterwards. Bit similar to Bournemouth in that we were in control and dominating play and fully deserved winners. There was so much more desire and energy from our lads even at 2-0 up. Top atmosphere too. I really think we are onto something good here and Pereya still to come back.
On another note, I have to give credit to Watford when it's due. Their high pressing negated us entirely. I had hoped they would tire from playing at such a high intensity but their team looks fit, strong and more importantly, together. There was some impressive one touch direct football they were playing. If they can perform like that every week, I would expect them to be fighting for that 'best of the rest' spot.
On my way home now and looking forward to cracking open a couple of cold ones in front of match of the day when I get in. I was going to write a long post to describe just how complete that away performance was, but I don't think my words would do it justice, or add anything to what's already been said. Blown away by what I saw today. Southampton fans after the game today speaking to us saying how impressed they were. How dominant we were. We looked like the home side and controlled the game for pretty much the entire 90+ minutes. Just when it looked like Southampton were building up ahead of steam, Janmaat showed everyone watching what he had in his locker and gave us the 2 goal cushion. Commanding performance from all involved. Doucouré nicks man of the match for me, but the entire side deserve a pat on the back for that today. And Andre Grey is so so close to getting a clear-cut chance. A couple of slightly earlier passes or better weighted passes and he could have had a couple today easily. Very physical and great energy. After feeling so down about the state of our side towards the end of the Mazzari rein, it's a glorious thing to feel this way so soon. Credit to Marco and the Pozzo's here. Outstanding so far.
Gives them just enough time to show Southamptons only chance and quickly talk about how bad they were before rolling the credits
As per Bournemouth, nearly an identical performance in the way we starved them of possession!! Incredible!! Gomes - near enough faultless - punched and caught when he had to. Save at the end was decent considering he was off his line! Femenia - as I mentioned after the Bournemouth game he looks an absolute steal. Although he had a tough time today against Redmond etc, I thought he looked decent and always wanted the ball. On a free, you cannot complain! Kaboul - In a back 4, he is immense. Showing the kind of form he showed at Sunderland with Kone. Such a shame is injury prone or he is easily top 8 quality! Kabasele - As per Brighton last week - immense. In terms of ability, I would say he is easily our best CB at the moment. Cannot believe Mazzarri did not give him more game time last year when he was fit. Considering the price paid (£5m?!) he looks another Pozzo steal! Holebas - did well today breaking up the left and always giving Richarlison support. No idea what Zeegelaar is like but he is a really good first choice LB. Chalobah - My word. Brilliant, brilliant signing - honestly can't believe Chelsea let him go so cheap?!?! Absolutely class on the ball for someone his age - for me he is so much better than some of the options England have in midfield at the moment. Surely he is better than the likes of Henderson etc on the ball???!!! Doucoure - As above. Absolutely superb!!! Can see him going for multi, multi millions over the next few years and deservedly so. Easily Champ League quality! Hopefully he can take us to Europe first.... Richarlison - Can't believe we have him. Simple! He had Cedric on toast a few times - this is a guy Chelsea, Juve et al were bidding incredible amounts of money for in the summer!! Richarlison - unbelievable player. Cleverley - our most underrated player so far. He has had a brilliant season. Honestly, if he keeps playing the way he is, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a call up to the England squad with Chalobah soon. Carrillo - considering he landed from Peru on Thursday, this was sensational!!! He played brilliantly - like Amrabat with work rate but with end product too. Such a shame he couldn't knock that one in at the end! Gray - for all the stick he gets, once again, I thought he was brilliant. He stretches the defence which allows Richarlison et al to play. For me, in spite of the price tag, he is one of our most important players in terms of work rate. Once the goals come, us fans will realise how important he is for this team and how much of an upgrade he is to last year!! Final note - Marco Silva - the Pozzo's best signing so far by a million miles.
Cleverley gets through an incredible amount of work, always chasing and hustling and when he gets the ball has a bit of quality to do something with it Chalobah and Doucoure get the plaudits but Cleverley looks near his career best form - certainly that I've seen of him down the years
WFCChris234 - My word! What an incredible addition to this forum. Have never seen a Watford fan use superlatives in such a way. I'm telling you, next summer we'll be selling him to RedCafe for millions! Just AMAZING!
Absolutely brilliant. Really enjoyed the match today. I am In The Moon In The Square, Bournemouth, and that means there is more time for lots of pints of Abbot, before I need to go back to my B&B to watch us.
Great result, even better off the back of a great performance. Well done the Horns. This is the difference a good coach can make. And thus despite new players to bed in and injuries meaning lots of changes already.
Great win and still early days. The fact that we have won twice away from home in our first two away games is just brilliant. As previously mentioned by the rest on here, the team done a number on the saints today and nullified everything they had. The fact that we limited them to their first shot on target in the 92nd minute tells the story of just how good we were. Next week at home to Man City will be a game we are expected to lose and lose heavily. I think we might just get a draw or possibly sneak a win if they roll up with the Big 6 attitude.
