We now have a great squad and a great coach, let us not forget the great man that is ultimately responsible.

    Baz Gino we salute you!

  3. Disagree.

    Excited now.

After ten games, we can get realistic...

I think our points and position after the Chelsea match (23rd Oct) would be a very strong indicator of how we're going to do.

Saturday was brilliant. A nice curry before the match and a great game to watch. We should revel in having Richarlison in our team - he's too good for us. Honestly.

All of the plus-points have already been covered previously. The only downsides were :-

    a) getting totally soaked on the way to the match
    b) Marco didn't wave when we asked him to

  6. No one is too good for us. No one.

Fair enough, there are very decent players who may jusifiably, in their mind, consider themselves too good for us, but they are simply demonstrating thay that we are too good for them.

    F**k 'em.

But right now, Richarlison is not one of them.

We really must stop this small team mentality, and reach for the top! We may never fill a 60K stadium every week, because we are only a small town in Hertfordshire, but that does not mean we can't become a top PL team!

So stop belittling our team and talk it up instead, because we can become a force in football, and why not!!!

    Build it, they will come

It's utter chaos getting away from our 20K ground, (which is never properly full anyway). Imagine another 40K worth of daytrippers? Nah, I'm happy with 4th place, the top 3 can keep it.

150/1 for a top 4 finish currently. If we win against man city this will drop substantially so worth £2 now or wait until we lose a couple against the other top 4 contenders for the odds to improve.

What do you mean by 'top PL team'? We can certainly become established at this level in the way that, say, Stoke have. But we'll never be realistic contenders at the top of the league. Leicester won the league and two years on they're barely a force in the East Midlands let alone football.

But we've got the pozzos, a proximity to London and a natty yellow kit.

Leicester have got...a crisp bowl for a stadium and that's about it.

Never? Really? I look at us as kind of aiming for a bit more than Udinese. under the Pozzos they have won cups, played in Europe and ended up in the top 4 on more than one occasion also they are perrenials in Serie A. No reason we cant do more with the greater Premier league wealth. As we have seen we have the added benefit of getting reasonable quality loans in if the transfer window goes **** up as well.

Liverpool have flattered to deceive. No reason we cant aim to be better than Everton. Chelsea have stumbled in a recent season.
Arsenal are a fading star. Don't see why we shouldn't aim for 4th behind the Manchesters and spuds.

So going to lose massively to City and ship more defensive injuries to effectively end our season now

Udinese haven't won anything domestically under the Pozzos but yes they have had european qualifications on a couple of occasions. I agree we could aim for a bit more than them and should aim for a domestic cup...but that doesn't make us a top PL club.

If it's as simple as you imply why haven't other clubs nailed it? And how do we use the greater PL wealth to stand out from a crowd where every competitor has access to the exact same PL wealth?

Forget riches, we have Gino Pozzo as our owner, perhaps the biggest single advantage any PL club can have.

I'd say having Sheik Mansour and the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund as an owner is a bigger advantage. But maybe it's just me.

Money counts of course but even little Muff's owner could afford Citeh's team on paper if he was so inclined. Attracting the players to his poxy little club is another matter entirely ... and then of course there's F.F.P, the penalties would be prohibitive.

Sustained success is the key, sure Leicester won the title but they couldn't capitalise, had it been us I think Gino could have found the players he needed to maintain a challenge at the top without breaking the bank or F.F.P. excessively. Unlike Leicester's owners Gino would more likely have recognised Kante as their key over all the Mahrez hype.

Gino may well have recognised Kante as the key over Mahrez - but Kante wanted to leave and as with countless amount of other transfers over a he past few years, once a player wants to leave, that’s it. They should have got a much bigger fee though...The contracts aren’t worth the paper they are written on. Leicester bought Ndidi and Mendy to try and repeat the Kante trick - it didn’t work. They also bought Slimani who was consistently top scorer in his league and scored goals in the CL. And kept the rest of the team together. Their issue was the squad partyied too long and took the beginning of last season off...that’s not their owners fault.

You say Bournemouth’s owner could buy the City team - is that true? Sure the guy is wedged but you’ll do well to find out just how wealthy he is as it’s not stated anywhere and he’s secretive. Last time I saw someone Russian who claimed he had a lot of money and didn’t, Portsmouth went bust.

There is nothing wrong with Watford aiming high and having ambition. But the expectation has to be a gradual build to the top. The CL money and relaxation of FFP for the big boys means that it’s harder than ever to break the monopoly of the top 5 or 6. But I think Gino has positioned us for 2yrs - now starts the build towards moving up the table season by season.

Filippo Galli. I went hard just looking at him. He’s the exception to this rule.

  26. I propose we have a realistic opportunity to replace Arsenal in the top 7. After all they are **** at the moment and have a gormless manager.

I'm am very much looking forwards to missing out on winning the prem and finishing 4th each year.

I would suggest that Gino sells Richarlison, Doucoure , Chalobah , Deeney and Capoue for a
combined total of £150 mill .

Then stick it all on black and then the winnings on red .

If successful he'll have a war chest of £600 mill which even by modern standards is enough to buy a CL winning team.

If he loses then we ll just be back in the Championship again building from scratch, just like we were in April 2012.

So a 1 in 4 chance of becoming the next Man City .

    I'll take those odds.
