What we're getting on Friday is coming from the south west I believe.

It's the winds from the east though (the so called beast) which will turn the rain into snow from this system in the south west.

Very rare to get them on feeders ! I have put apples out for our fieldfares and redwings.

They were mainly on the ground it's true.
I shall chop up an old apple I have in my car in that case!

No don't chop up as they won't be so familiar with chopped up apple. They are used to eating windfall apples though most have now gone. Just open the skin in a couple of places so they can get at the fruit. When the snow is covering the ground i buy a few bags of cheap apples to feed them. I have to nail them down though so the squirrels dont run off with them ! They can be a magnet for sparrowhawks to pick them off though if left too much in the open !!

I nail squirrels down so the foxes don't run off with them.

Met office website doesn't think Friday will be too bad at London Luton airport until around 6pm (my flight is due to land at 8pm). Even at that, it is saying 'light snow' so I'm still optimistic.

Belfast is due to be hit bad on Thursday but thankfully very little forecast for Friday so I think the flight will be dependent on what it is like at Luton airport

Disappointed that the news reports haven’t shown images of dunderheads stuck wheel spinning in half an inch of snow, revving the nuts out of his car and wondering why the wheels just spin.

Thoughts and respect to our brave TV reporters, especially the one on Sky this morning who battled through the treacherous red zone to bring us this morning’s report. Pride of the nation

What are we going to do when the meeja run out of dramatic names for weather?

Will the Beast From The East and Storm Emma finally pass to leave a calm spell of Normal Nile, Steady Eddie or Clear Spell Sid?

I can tell you it’s horrible in Luton without checking the weather.

That was one of the joys of being young when I was. You had a lot more freedom and space on the roads to learn how to drive in the snow and most of the cars were rear wheel drive meaning driving in this stuff with front wheel drive is a piece of p***.

Anyone with low profile tyres on a 4WD vehicle should be shot, (in my humble opinion).

As long as we don't get Hurricane or Storm Troy, then we'd be f******.

It is more horrid than usual in North East England. Had snow since Monday afternoon, not expected to stop until Sunday. I need food ffs and the dog can do one today if he thinks im going out in a -7 windchill.

Too late but I will follow this advice today!
Not seen much of Cyril and Sybil since the snow but I did see a blue *** fly off with a whole peanut which was impressive as it was akin to Troy picking up a wooden horse!
No point even sweeping a court as snow still falling, awaiting 'Civilisations' with Schama,Beard and other chap.Only Starkey missing for the full wrath of Fail readers to be released!

I'm sure we got more snow in December! Bit nippy but other than that it's business as usual.

I've put every bit of bird seed, suet pellets and every other nut and seed we have. I've also put out peanut butter and honey sandwiches. The lot has gone very quickly in a flurry of doves, wood pigeons, blackbirds and jackdaws.

Had 5-6 fieldfares on the apples today until one decided he/she wanted the lot for himself/herself and won't let the others near them. Bullfinch too and yellow hammers. Lots of birds come into gardens to seek shelter and food when its like this.

Fieldfares spotted in Hoddesdon garden by our 'OGF' Yvonne. Also is my brother's garden in Catfield.
Red wings back here and starlings bathing in water. I have put another bowl down for drinking but my hopes aren't high!

Kind of wishing I’d escaped back to Malta lol
