You're a true humanitarian, Meister. Not that I ever doubted it

I entirely agree with Meister's sentiment. We have far too many cats in this country (10 million or so) that kill far too many birds (introduced predators kill natural wildlife scandal) and anything that can be done to reduce the carnage should be mandatory.

However, in what way does Meister suggesting a policy for cats to kill less birds make him a 'humanitarian'? Not that he isn't of course ...

What's with all the latest cancellations at Heathrow during this second mini-episode of late winter weather? We really are a laughing stock ...

You've got me there, Kelso. I wanted a fancy Latin name to describe a lover of all God's creatures except cats and couldn't be arsed to ask IBB.

But behind that, the real reason is that I accidentally pressed Reply instead of Like so had to say something

Isn't it just a symptom of an airport running at full pelt, if not over capacity? They have to bin some flights to allow sufficient times for de-icing planes and the taxi/runways I think.

Yep. Heathrow is running at something like 98% capacity. It's why they're building a new runway. If there's any issue or delay there's only 2% time to reschedule unless you start waking people up in Richmond so generally things go **** up.

I'm beginning to think this country isn't being run terribly well. And hasn't been for some years, regardless of who has been in no. 10.

Decades more like. Governments are so scared of not being voted back that they don't have the balls to do the necessary. Hence all the bluster about austerity, but not actually being austere enough.

We should have had 4 years of misery and then we'd be laughing. Instead they bottled it and the compound interest has dwarfed any gains made buy the shallow cuts they did implement. Net effect we're still in the doo doo and we've had (and will continue to have) a much longer period of slightly less misery than we should have.

One for the politics section I think.

  11. There was snow at Easter in 1981 - I remember freezing my butt off at Shepherd's Bush watching a 0-0 draw. The following Easter saw another 0-0 draw at the same venue - only that time I got sunburnt.

The usual suspects in the printed press are shouting in big headline ‘temperature set to PLUMMET over Easter’ And ‘BEAST set to return’

I’ve checked reputable weather websites and see nothing of the sort. In fact temperatures in sunny South West Herts seem to be on the increase from 10 degrees up. Not barbaque weather but certainly not an ICEY BLAST.

What’s it all about? is is just these papers continuation of information fear?

The Getsworse has such headlines on a fortnightly basis from November to April.
I make a habit of looking at their front page when I can.

We had snow at Silverstone in the middle of April 2016, I don't recall so much hysteria back then.

I only remember because I went camping there the following weekend, for the British Superbikes, it was so cold that the tent zip froze and ice formed on the sleeping bags.

Most important thing is to bring them in when it gets dark . They're eyesite is excellent in the dark and rodents and sleeping birds are easy pickings

No snow - just loads of rain.

They will still be watering the pitch come Saturday - handy for all those players who like to fall over!
