We won't sign Berahino. He's English, and we've heard of him. So it will be a no.

 

I wouldn't be in such a hurry to get rid of Ighalo, but he needs to learn he is not indispensable and there need to be other striker options to keep him sharp and eager to keep his starting spot, and to rest him when it is needed.

Thank god the football is starting tonight, my head is spinning with all the different possibilities for the strikers next season. Deeney/Ighalo/Success/Sinclair/Pernanda/Vydra/Berahino have I missed any..

I do hope this bid if true isn't a sign that Deeney is off but seems suspicious timing if true..

It's never boring at Watford. On a side note, it seems that all of our moves are now being leaked to SSN like it's nothing. I thought Gino liked to keep his cards close to his chest?

 

I think both are likely to go as Iggy will be relatively ineffective without Troy alongside him, as was Vydra.

 

There is probably a mole within the club so Gino needs to get the pest control officer in!

 

£20m for Berahino? I smell a bit of bs because he's only got a year left on his contract and he's not going to sign an extension. Despite transfer fees rising because everyone has more money, even WBA are not that stupid to slap a £20m value on him and risk losing him on a free next summer

 

I reckon £20m is probably West Brom’s (rather optimistic) valuation. WDS do say our bid is some way short of that.

I wonder if Gino allowed this story to be leaked so it would mask our bid for Pereyra and stop the talk about him in the press? If we sign both that would be incredible but I would rather Pereyra first because he is the playmaker we have been crying out for. If we sign him for the supposedly €10-13mill offer we've made, that is cracking piece of business by Gino.

I don't think the Pozzos think in as linear a fashion as fans do , i.e. Bid for Berahino to mask action for this other bloke. I think it's more of "we need at least 3 known commodity forwards, and another 4 or so younglings". We've got Deeney and Ighalo (in our minds Amrabat is still questionable, but they may see that differently). We've got Penaranda, Oulare, Sinclair and presumably Success in the wings - possibly even Jakubiak. Berahino likely fills out their need for a quality 3rd or even 4th option up top, and hedges our bets in the event that Troy or Ighalo go somewhere else. Similarly in midfield I doubt that they are sold on Jurado or Suarez - and we've yet to see Doucoure. Berghuis is still very much a question. Behrami, Guedioura and Abdi are known - role players but not good enough to start every match. So I think we're seeing something similar there. We need another player or two to supplement/supplant? Watson, Capoue and (presumably) Doucoure - whilst retaining 1-2 of the fringe fellas.

Loser of the Jurado/Suarez battle is off I think.
