At the other end of our mini league, congrats to @rsenal & @rsene for taking the title in the Best of Rest rankings. Burnley can say goodbye to 6th.
If this fractional approach to nationality had been discussed more, would we have avoided the calamity of Brexit?
So.... IF we now lose to Newcastle and MU, Soton beat Swansea and Swansea beat Stoke (all entirely possible), to finish above us; Swansea would have to beat Muff Soton would have to win one of their other 2 games (Everton and Man C). BHA, WHU and HTFC would have 3 games to get between 1-4 points to overtake us. Toughest for HTFC who need 4 but H vs arsenal is their last game.
Yes long odds but it keeps it interesting. The minute we can't go down the season loses all interest for me ! Might be this weekend. Or it might look even more interesting !
Fill in this: http://www.worldfootball.net/table_calculator/eng-premier-league/ Every time I do it I change my mind. I still say West Ham are going to be thereabouts.
Just did this and I have us just staying up in 17th spot on GD over Huddersfield with them filling the 3rd relegation spot
I have us 16th - 3 points ahead of Huddersfield and 4 ahead of Southamton. We miss out narrowly to Brighton and Swansea on goal difference.
After our 2-0 win against Newcastle - 12th & 9 points clear of southampton I didn't even count the three points at Old Trafford with Chalobah, Cleverley, Deulofeu, Kaboul all back and Cassidy coming off the bench.
Taking the last 5 games of each of the 6 clubs directly above the drop zone, 2 wins have been registered (one of them being HTFC's 1-0 win over us). There is some dismal form in this group.......
I have us down for finishing 13th on 39 points. Southampton (on 33), Stoke (32), and West Brom (28) to go down. Huddersfield to just about survive in 17th on 35 points.
16th. 2 pts above HTFC and 4 above Soton. Change 3 results including losing to NUFC and we would be 3rd bottom.
Meanwhile that happy and cheerful Mr Hughes is unhappy about the fixture times tomorrow. Thinks that Swansea finishing forty minutes before Southampton kick off tomorrow will make all the difference on Tuesday night. Why advertise the fact and allow it to work it's way into players minds or is he just getting his excuses in early?
If we did go down, and it could easily happen. What players would stay? Richie and Doucs would be off Delofeu if he wants first team football Carrillo would be off, but might do ok in that league, same Andre Gray. Cucho might struggle for a work permit.
I almost hope we get relegated purely because it would be one of the greatest shocks in football ever. Like an actual completely freakish occurrence that would dwarf Leicester's title win in terms of going against probability. People all around the world would talk about it for years and years to come and still not quite believe that it happened due to the fact that nothing like it has ever happened before and would never happen again. And as well as that it would make the people who clearly don't understand football at all as they are even considering that something like this could possibly happen happy and give them the opportunity to say 'I told you so' for probably the first time in their entire lives.
Good post except that I think you overstate the interest it would cause as, notwithstanding the earthquake to the laws of probability, frankly no one gives a flying **** about us.
I think you're right. "Team 6 points above bottom 3 who have 3 games still to play" in relegation shocker. Forget Leicester. There'd be books, films, HB1 would be on the 6 o'clock news....
Oh good, Brighton just went above us by winning their game in hand against Manchester United. Utd'll need to beat us on the final day now. Anyone think we'll put up a similarly spirited and organised performance?
That's another team safe, and now above us. I didn't think they'd get another two points, but they drew at Burnley and beat United. Fair play, they deserve it. We have to do it for ourselves. We cannot rely on the others doing us a favour anymore. We're down to 14th, but surprisingly no one can see the danger. Still, I'm relieved we only have a 0.03% chance of going down. That keeps me reassured.
Yeah, but they couldn't confirm 2nd place tonight anyway. Since, it turns out, they didn't even bother to try, the first possible time to confirm it would be against us; unless Spurs somehow contrive to lose to West Brom or Newcastle.
Good. Hopefully it gives our lads a kick up the arse for tomorrow. We could feasibly finish behind all the promoted teams... and Wolves and (hopefully) Fulham are better than Brighton, Huddersfield and maybe even Newcastle. Relegation Watch 18/19 will feature us if we have a "quiet" summer. Stoke, West Brom and Southampton are where they are because they got complacent. We need a rocket up there. Grow some, Watford. Win tomorrow and win well.
