Bookies think we’ll get 41 points and 37 points is what they think 4th bottom will currently get. Admittedly that view changes weekly of course.
It would be fair to say that but what worries me is earlier Palace were written off by most on here as they were cut adrift, then Swansea were definitely down and now look where they both are... It just takes a mini run to get out of the mire but not all of 7 of the 9 teams below us can go on a mini run while we continue to drop most of our points - can they? I think we’ll be OK and well done Mr Pozzo cos if we still had that slippery Silva I would be very nervous. The last 5 game form table for the bottom 10 teams shows just 10 wins from 50 games between them, and Palace and Swansea got 4 of those - so 6 wins in 40 games by the other 8 teams. Every win is huge and just 4 more precious wins from 13 will do it..
That would be pretty difficult anatomical wise, and shouldn’t it not be the other way around? Now stop it before you get us both banned
They don't need to go on a good run or a mini run. They just need to get between 1 and 4 points more than us over the next 13 games. If we continue on the form of the last 2-3 months that wouldn't be difficult. We need to turn our form around. We can't rely on others.
6 of Huddersfield’s next 8 games are against teams in the bottom half. They also play Bournemouth at home next. If they’re still dross after that run of fixtures, then yes I can’t look beyond them either
I think psychologically the clean sheet and overall defensive performance against Stoke would of been a lift to the boys and I’m sure Gracia would of pushed that idea. I was pretty nervous seeing our Greek wonder in goal again but he has been just as good as Gomes in recent games and proves the Everton performance was probably due to neves and a quick forked snake chat from slither. I’m still very nervous about every game we play as our most of us but belief on the pitch comes from us getting behind the boys. Some of us myself included have been critical (and rightly so) of past attitude and passion on the pitch but part of that was down to Silva as we now know. We can stay up, it’s certainly going to be an exciting final few months.
More likely it was due to Holebas having a complete meltdown in front of him and offering him zero protection.
You'd struggle, because I'm a grown adult woman pretending to be a man on a football forum on the internet.
@Relegation Certs Got to say the things you come out with do me smile. You seem a bit of a joker and a much loved member of this community. God Bless you x. Actually, when I was a member on the old Official club forum before they closed it down, I was ridiculed by some and never got on with anyone. I used to read the forums but never posted towards the end of the tenure and it made me sad. This community is better in all senses, more relaxed and well developed and operated my Meister and all his moderators. So big thumbs up from me there. And to all of you - it's a pleasure being part of this forum - I appreciate all your posts and look forward to reading them and the banter whilst following the Hornets.
Ok, so with a bit of spare time I put together the remaining 12 fixtures for the bottom 9 teams: Watford Chelsea h west ham a Everton h WBA h Arsenal a liverpool a muff h burnley h hudds a palace h spurs a newcastle h manu a Assessment: After Chelsea we have a good run of 3 games where anything up to 9 points can be achieved. A decent result tonight (draw or win) and we are in a good place to attack those games before 2 tough away games at Arsenal and Liverpool. After that we have 5 games out of 6 that are deemed winnable or points can be taken. Meh's Merson thoughts: Safe - too many winnable games and only a couple of tough ones where you struggle to see us at least having a chance, especially as we are already in the driving seat with the 3 points + GD benefit. West Ham Watford h liverpool a Swansea a burnley h manu h southampton h chelsea a Stoke h Arenal a Man c h Lesta a Everton h Assessment: A mixed run of games will see them struggle to have any kind of streak but their home games are against easier opposition so this is where they could pick up the important points. Meh's Merson thoughts: Precarious - A few winnable games but each time followed up by a tough one. Difficult for them to build up a head of steam where every winnable game is followed by a tough one. I see them staying up but barely. Brighton Stoke a Swansea h Arsenal h Everton a Man c a Lesta h Hudds h Palace a Spurs h Burnley a Manu h Liverpool a Assessment: Tough. Stoke away and Swansea are good games to go into on the back of their win at West Ham. After that though you can't see them taking more than a couple of points in the next 4 games, and they finish up with Spurs, Burnley, Manu and Lverpool. Meh's Merson thoughts: Relegated! Depends on the next games. Get 1 or less points from those 2 then they could 6 games without much more than a couple of points as I see them taking nothing from the following 4. they don't have a team that you can see pulling off surprise wins so they need to beat the next 2 to go into the last few games with chance. 34 points. Palace Everton a Spurs h Manu h Chelsea a Hudds a Liverpool h Muff a Brighton h Watford a Lesta h Stoke a WBA h Assessment: They have a team capable of beating anyone on their day so that gives them a chance but those next 7 games are really tough. They need a surprise win or 2 or they'll be going into game week 34 on maybe 30 points or less. Meh's Merson thoughts: Safe! Barely. I think they'll get 1 win and a draw out of the tough fixtures going into Brighton. they should then be able to pick up 5 or 6 points from the next 5 games to finish around 37 points. Southampton Liverpool h Burnley a Stoke h Newcastle a Swansea a West Ham a Arsenal a Chelsea h Lesta a muff h Everton a Man c h Assessment: They are on a good run now but will hit Liverpool at home and Burnley away next. After that they have a run of 4 games where I can see them picking up 6+ points plus another 3 or 4 from the remaining. Meh's Merson thoughts: Safe! Think they will be pretty safe, maybe 3 points or more above 18th. They have a decent team that are starting to fire and have enough quality to pick off the weaker teams while making few extra points from those higher up. Newcastle Manu h muff a Liverpool a Spouthampton h Spurs a Hudds h lesta a Arsenal h Everton a WBA h watford a Chelsea h Assessment: They have a mixed run of games but ones which you can see them winning. I can see them getting a few points from all of those games as they have a strong team who can battle for draws. Meh's Merson thoughts: Safe! Maybe by just a point or 2 but safe. They have a team that you can see battling out a draw v some of the bigger boys while picking off points at home v the lower teams. Swansea burnley h Brighton a West Ham h hudds a Southampton h Manu a WBA a Everton h Man c a Chelsea h muff a stoke h Assessment: They are going into a period where they have a very good run of very winnable games and they are starting to play well. There is only a run of 3 games where they have Everton, Man City and Chelsea where they may struggle a bit to pick up anything. Meh's Merson thoughts: Safe! Burnley at home may be tricky but after that they have 5 or so games out of 6 that they are capable of taking points and the last 2 games are the sort of matches that they will in if they need to. Stoke brighton h lesta a Southamptn a Man c h Everton h Arsenal a Spurs a West Ham a Burnley h Liverpool a Palace h Swansea a Assessment: After Brighton they have a really tough run of games. You struggle to see them taking any points until Palace at home in their penultimate game as the easier games are away and the tough games at home. Meh's Merson thoughts: Relegated! They need to win this weekend. If they don't then I still see them being under 30 points by the time palace come into town and by then it will be too late. Could well be a last day battle with Swansea as to who of them stay up by I think Stoke will be too far adrift by then anyway. Bottom. Hudds muff h WBA a Spurs a Swansea a Palace h Newcastle a Brighton a Watford h Chelsea a Everton h Man c a Arsenal h Assessment: A mixed run of games. Unfortunately most of their easier games are away from home. And after our game their final run in is Chelsea, Everton, Man City and Arsenal o hard to see them taking much out of those 4 final games. Their game v us could be their last and best chance to get the final points needed to stay up. Meh's Merson thoughts: Relegated! I just can't see where they will pick up many points in these games. WBA away is a good chance but I can't see them getting more than a draw. Apart from that it's hard to see where they may get anything. WBA Chelsea a Southampton h hudds h watford a lesta h muff a Burnley h Swansea h manu a Liverpool h Newcastle a Spurs h Palace a Assessment: They have a mixed run of fixtures and with Sturridge they have a decent chance of getting some goals if he stays fit. After chelsea they have 2 decent home games to pick up some points before coming to us, so they could well get 4-6 points from those 3. Meh's Merson thoughts: Safe! They still have a 4 point gap to make up so it will still be tough but they have a decent team that look like they are willing to battle for their manager and the fixtures aren't too unkind. They will make up the 4 point gap to the rest and survive on the final day. So my predictions for the relegated are: Stoke Brighton Huddersfield Right, should probably get back to work!
An enjoyable read but unfortunately there is no evidence we can win the winnable games. In fact, we've lost loads of the winnable games already. RC's Merson thoughts: Relegated! And good riddance to them. Just a club full of foreign poofters.
If we are going to win any winnable, drawable, or losable game we are going to have to score a goal between now and end of May. We know that's impossible.
Crikey! I'm returning to my Dactyls and Spondees. Much easier to understand Homeric hexameters than these permutations!
Apparently Zaha could be out for sometime. "Wilfried Zaha will see a specialist tomorrow after injuring his knee in the draw with Newcastle on Sunday. Expected to be out for some time" Palace could easily get sucked in.
