His favoured formation is 3-5-2 and he rarely strays from it. That may work in Italy but I doubt it would in the premier league.

    I agree mate.

Also according to transfer market, since 2007-2014 he has averaged 1.62 points per game. Which over 38 games would be 61/62 points which is pretty good but it was in a weaker league than the prem and he also managed Inter and Napoli in that period of time who have much better players than us.

oops didnt mean to like that , dont see why not if its executed well and you have the players for it ,playing players in there right positions sometimes helped too!
442 hasnt done us many favours , yet works well for palace and muff , 4231 doesnt work for us coz players are out of position ie abdi and jurado as wingers !
anyone remember Abdi playing as an attacking creative midfielder he was devastating .

I think I would settle for 61 points next season also how much do Napoli get next season and how much do we get , do you think we might bring in some better players in the summer , just a thought.:)
1.62 points a game is bloody good, especially over 7 yrs.

1.62 points is a good return and I certainly wouldn't complain if he done that here but doing it in the Serie A doesn't mean he can do it in the Prem which is the most competitive league in the world. Of course it doesn't mean he can't do it either but getting 61/62 points on average over 7 years, 5 of which were with Napoli and Inter.

I agree of course we will get better players in but it won't be the likes of players like Hamsik in his prime.

I just don't think that 3-5-2 would work in this league. There's a reason why no one uses it here. LVG tried it at United and it failed miserably, BR used it a bit at Liverpool and while it worked at the beginning, once teams worked it out it became ineffective.

'Quique Sanchez Flores' time at Watford has been a trumph'

Proceeds to talk about Flores' success at Atletico, his love of books and his relation to Di Stefano and Lola Flores.

The media will continue to shame us for getting rid of him, because he's exotic and has an interesting story. They know almost nothing about how he has actually managed the club in the past 5 months, nor do I think they care.

They said that about 4-4-2 and this season Leicester have used it, as a one-off it works against teams not expecting it, Spurs did it to us in December and 3-5-2 was effective. Also it works against Championship teams, which Norwich will be by 9:35 tonight.

3-5-2 works against teams that are 4-4-2, hence why it worked for us in the Champ. Against teams that go 4-2-3-1 (most of them in the Prem), it fails miserably and that's been proven over the last two seasons. Hull got relegated using that formation and Sunderland were utter dog against us with 3 at the back before they switched the formation

The problem is that a lot of team play wide in the Premier League and there is an abundance of pacey wingers and fullbacks. Naturally that ends up with the 3-5-2 wing back being pinned back for the game or totally overloaded. I'm not entirely convinced our three centre backs are good/mobile enough to deal with that.

Of course, that can be countered by placing men out wide. Under Jokanovic, when we played 3-5-2, Watson and Guedioura did most of their best work stuck to the touchline covering. That leaves the middle horribly exposed unless everyone is busting a gut.

Everyone is trying to place this year's squad into a 3-5-2. If we do get Mazzarri and he does indeed play 3-5-2 then we will buy players to play that formation.

    The view of an Italian:

Mazzarri is actually quite good. He managed successfully Sampdoria and then Napoli before going to Inter. I think he overachieved in all the teams he managed except Inter, but the situation there is very dysfunctional in general. At Napoli he played more like 343 formation going to 361 when playing defense as wide players were going back. He has an eye for players too, he was the one that brought Cavani and Lavezzi in Napoli. He finished second with them and played in the last-16 round of the Champions League, eliminating Man City from the group and then losing to Chelsea in extra time. I think he will be a good appointment for Watford, as they will be considered underdogs in a lot of games and will open options for him to use his favourite counter attack, plus he likes fast-paced football and I think that is the style in England.

The point about fast paced football is encouraging after watching the current team deliberately slow the ball down when we have a chance to counter

It certainly would seem to open up the door for him. Ighalo seems very likely to move in the summer; if the new coach coming in favours counterattack then Vydra has a great opportunity to stake his claim.

People keep asking me if i'd be unhappy if we lost QSF and/or Ighalo this summer, and always seem shocked when I say i'm not that bothered about losing either. Quite strange to be in that situation & kind of proves people just listen to the media instead of actually watching us play.

The reaction of other fans is hilarious. Hoping we go down next season, calling us a joke club and saying the Pozzos are using us as a toy all because Quique is leaving!

Same here, spurs and arsenal fans at work half surprised, half condescending about Flores getting the boot and telling me (a season ticket holder) that he's brilliant and the club are stupid.

At least the west ham fan in our department got it, saying "sounds like allardyce was for us".

Going to be another tedious summer...

The worst part is the press joining in, without looking at any of the facts. If I was a manager my number one aim would be to get the press onside, seems to do wonders for a managers reputation, regardless of how good they actually are.

Another game of safety. Another game with AMs in the Winger positions despite it not working for the last 10 matches.

What the F*** is he thinking?
He's just put out the same team that lost to Liverpool and almost lost to Villa.

    WTF?

You mean the slightly wide defensive midfielder positions, right?

What do you guys say when someone asks why QSF is getting sacked? Every time I give someone a reason we he's gonna go, I just get the "FA cup semi-final and almost top 10" bull**** response.

I would really like to know what some of the players think about it all. Deeney as captain for instance, Behrami for his lack of games while other players are run into the ground, Abdi and Jurado two talented players played out of position every week, Amrabat and Berghuis sat on the bench watching watching the previous two players picked in their positions, it would be interesting and probably not entirely in favour of the manager either.

We've been awful since Christmas and if we continue this form we're relegated next year. Then I explain his lack of adaptiveness gives us no hope of the situation changing

I've been pretty quiet on the subject so far but we have got progressively worse as the season draws to a close. Get him out!

I didn't even think it was possible to make Norwich look like Barcelona but we are 2nd best all over the park.

It's obvious Norwich want this more and who can blame them! Our boys have their minds on the forthcoming summer break.
RE QSF. I'm not at all surprised by his team selections any more. I'm just waiting for manatleasure to say "he's lost me now"

Thanks Quique for your great work in the first half of the season.

As for the second half of the season, there is only one word for it.....sh*t.

We need new impetus, new ideas and new direction from a coach that isn't scared to change things and won't just play his favourite players into a system that doesn't suit them or other around them.

    Time to part ways.

Constant refusal to start Berghuis over the last few weeks is frankly disgusting, seeing as the season was wrapped up after the Palarse debacle! I hope Gino can convince him not to leave as he will be a big player for us under the right manager!

Tonight was just pathetic. I feel for the fans that bothered to turn up to watch a team that doesn't give a f**k (except one or two). The same team that's sent out by QSF to be motivated and work hard. Cathcart's foul at the end summed up that performance, half arsed!
