Agreed, one of my key duties was updating the groom on England vs South Africa in the cricket ;)

This made me chuckle after a long day getting the venue ready! I'm genuinely leaving a slot open to mention the score in my speech now

Imagine a midfield four of Mings, Arter, Surman and Gosling.

And I thought we lacked pace before our signings!

How Bournemouth managed to go in 1-1 at HT is unbelievable. Great goal from Daniels though.

Palace fans are in meltdown. They have a couple more winnable looking games coming up but if they lose those they could be in trouble. Obviously it's early days and we saw last year with Swansea that it is possible to recover from an awful 10 game period (when they had the American manager), but it does stack the odds against you.

Stoke are doing better than i expected, though perhaps they just underachieved last year and Burnley have already got 4 points away from home (more than they managed last year?!). West Brom are doing a West Brom and know how to get points on the board.

Afternoon all, hope your bank holiday weekends are going along nicely. Thanks for all the best wishes for my wedding on various threads, all went very well! Shocking signal at the venue though meant I had to wait for an evening guest to arrive to find out our score!

    "0-0" - felt a bit gutted
"You had a player sent off first 20 minutes" - felt bit happier we had got the draw
"For a foul on Knockaert" - Big smile on my face!

Of course, I've seen it since, I'm pleased the little git wasn't injured as wouldn't wish that on any footballer.

Anyway the Prem 2 weekend round up on its way and then I'll get the table up....

Burnley must have been buzzing on sunday night after the manner of their hard earnt point away to Spurs. They were the only side to pick up any 'bonus points' this weekend as Bournemouth and Leicester had expected defeats.

Huddersfield came through their toughest game so far with a very creditable point against a Saints team that look like they could go either way this season.

WBA will be disappointed to have dropped 2 points late on with a shocking mistake and the game V Stoke was the dull contest predicted. Still, it's hard to challenge the effectiveness of these 2 sides so far.

Britos will no doubt be a very quiet figure this week at training, 0-0 at home to Brighton doesn't look great, but bearing in mind the circumstances the Hornets will take it. Based on the understanding of beating Prem 2 teams at home and drawing away we've done that (just the wrong way around). It's still a good start.

And now we move to the wrong end of the table, this was a big weekend for 4 teams and Swansea and Newcastle came out of it smiling. Palace and West Ham look in some early trouble and the look of both managers in their interviews seem to show it.

In brackets are amount of games v Prem 1 sides and the amount of points from those games. Just 8 points from a possible 39 so far.

EB, glad it went well, shame no scorers to thank. Did Britos make it in time for the evening reception? He got away from work as soon as he could.

Freedman back in the fold at Palace. Could de boer be on his way? I'd throw some money at first manager to go right now with Freedman to take over as interim...

It's certainly looking like a miss-match having Do Boer at Palace with their current squad.

Big day for the Prem 2 sides today. The thing that I think is the best for us is that none of our first team players look to be leaving, unlike a couple of the others who are fighting off interest.

Still a bit of time to go in the window but WBA look like they are going to top the best window charts. This assumes of course that Pulis doesn't do his usual trick of turning an exciting prospect into a dullard journeyman.

A few look like they are struggling though, Newcastle, Brighton Palace and West Ham don't looking to pulling any rabbits out of the hat at the moment. Goode if that continues.

On the transfer side of things I think Leicester look to of done some very good business Maguire for £17m will look as good as our Chalobah deal come the end of the season and they have kept hold of Vardy and Mahrez which could be pivotal for them. Swansea getting Bony and Sanchez in looks good on paper but losing Lorennte/Sigurdson will hurt more IMO, as for the rest in EPL2 nothing really stands out to me I think if anything it makes our transfer activity this window look fabulous

I see Palace finally got sakho. Good signing but I have to say whilst I wanted us to upgrade on ours I wouldn't have been prepared to pay £26 million. Seems an awful lot for one player and they only have one striker and 2 keepers until January

Probably a valid point, but then you absolutely would not be saying that if we signed Sakho for 26m.

If we had signed Sakho for 26m I would have demanded he be added to the poll on the boo boy thread immediately and most likely changed my vote from Gary to him before he kicked a ball. Decent I think but 26m and probably on Liverpool wages.

    Agree with this

Two decent signings on paper, but look at the squad as a whole and they're worse off in two key positions

I think some of the more high profile signings for the "EPL2" teams must be on significant wages. We appear to operate a far more Spurs like wage structure for better or worse. It may mean we miss out on some targets but hopefully those we get actually want to come and it will not put existing players noses out of joint.

Excellent thread and table EB. And good that you've avoided the temptation to add bonus points for results against the top seven but simply provided that information in brackets instead. 'Bonus points' would have been too contrived.

One thing that will be interesting to see is how closely the table correlates with results against the top seven. There's bound to be some correlation but how close? Some teams might do very well against the top boys (being particularly motivated) and less well against their peers and others might be 'flat track bullies' doing very well against their peers but very poorly against the big boys. That was an accusation once levelled against us in the Championship.

These distinctions should be particularly apparent at the turn of the year when all the games played in brackets should read (7) for everyone (assuming no postponements).

I hope you're enjoying your first week of married life!

Cheers Kelso, appreciate the positive comments. Yeah I was thinking the same, will the points earned against the top 7 be the deciding factor in finishing positions. Burnley have started well in this respect.

As for married life, we were also meant to be moving today, but the people we are buying from have decided to use C. Eastwood & J. Wayne Solicitors so it's been a week of living in chaos and stress (some tell me this is married life anyway).
