Too times winners of the European Cup. Three losses on the bounce after home defeat to Swansea. Like a proud wounded animal they will fight back .. Can we turn around our abysmal away form? Can our warm clime fancy dans manage a cold Wednesday night in Nottingham? How many more injuries and Covid +’s will come out of the woodwork to decimate the squad? It’s all positive and we’ve got the best song - something about being the best club in historeeee.. wish I could find it and it’s played to the lads to inspire them.. Forest 1 Watford 3
Even when I have been to Reading away there seems to be more Watford fans, I have never met a Reading fan either. They have been the surprise team so far this season so that is probably why Sky have chosen them.
I would happily take a scrappy 1-0 win in this one our away form has ben terrible so far but if we play anywhere near as good as we did on Saturday we should have too much for a poor Forest side.
They tend to be quite feeble fans, well the two I knew who I referenced earlier were. They both claimed to support Reading and went relatively regularly, but one also seemed to support Man Utd and the other Liverpool.
I'm currently watching Tom Fort,he of the A303 programme. He's crossing the Trent in a punt. Very interesting. Hopefully we'll move the ball quicker than his punt!
Did anyone watch the Forest vs Swansea game? Did Forest look like a team who are in a false position and were unlucky, or a poor side who are ripe for the taking (just like Wycombe, Barnsley, QPR then - oh, wait)?
While Deeney's penalties literally tore the heads off the Forest goalkeepers, unfortunately we didn't have a single shot on target in open play and couldn't take advantage of Sammy Ameobi comically donning the gloves
Me too. No they looked very average. One or two nice moves but generally impotent. The goal was a bit flimsy too,Ameobi failing to jump and a much smaller chap (Roberts?) nodded in at the back post.
A grand ship like the HMS Pisstheleague takes a while to get started, but when it's got going there's no stopping it. We should be winning easier and easier each game now as it builds up a head of steam. 4-1 last game, so it should be at least a winning margin of 5 goals this time. And 6 the next etc. By my calculations we should be winning the last game of the season 36-0, anything else should be seen as failure.
The poll at the beginning of their thread makes interesting reading, not one of them predict a Forest win. https://www.forestforum.co.uk/threads/49211-MATCHDAY-15-NOTTINGHAM-FOREST-v-WATFORD
A mate of mine who is a Forest fan is utterly fed up with their ineffective football and it seems to be a common theme among their fans at the moment. They struggle to score and then give away sloppy goals.
Knockaert AND Arter in the same team? And this hasn't been mentioned yet by anyone not on my blocklist? I want this one bad. I want them both to cry at the end. As the promotion bandwagon has set off, this is the sort of game our Joka side would win 4-1. 2-0 Forest (Knockaert, Arter)
It's the same for all teams we've played. Fans are absolutely terrified of us, right up until the match starts, then they realise we are shyte (PNE aside).
I can see why Forest fans are pessimistic, they haven't scored in the 3 matches since the international break, their next 4 fixtures are us, Reading, Norwich & Brentford.
Should be in your bookmarks/favourites ffs. A classic of the genre. They must all be dead from the 'rona by now surely (if there is any justice in this world anyway).
Apologies for the late preview! Preview – Nottingham Forest vs Watford When: Wednesday 2nd December 2020. 7:45pm Where: City Ground, Nottingham Watford FC face the humungous test known as Nottingham Forest who have won two European Cups in their past (like we’ve never heard this before!). Nottingham Forest are a shadow of the club from the late 1970s early 1980s. Many Forest supporters prior to the season starting would happily have taken continuously being above Derby County in the league table up to now, little would they know that Derby would prop the table up and Nottingham Forest sit one place above the Championship drop zone. In their last outing Forest lost at home to Swansea City by the solitary goal. In that match Forest employed a 4-2-3-1 formation. A lot of the Forest attacks came via either Sammy Ameobi on the left or Anthony Knockeart on the right. Both are ‘tricky’ wingers and we all know about the exploits of Championship stalwart Knockeart. Might see him go easily down in the box on Wednesday night like some sort of theatrical villain. Forest have made a number of signings prior to the commencement of the season, notably ex-Bournemouth loudmouth Harry Arter and Aberdeen centre-back Scott McKenna. Unlike Watford FC, Forest are seemingly happy to splash some cash. The majority shareholder is Evangelos Marinakis who is also the owner of Olympiacos C.F.P. in Greece. Chris Hughton takes charge of Forest on Wednesday night following the sacking of Sabri Lamouchi in October. Lamouchi did interest Watford prior to our relegation last season. He is currently the manager of Qatari side Al-Duhail. Some interesting (or not so interesting facts about Nottingham Forest (and Nottingham). Former Doctor Who actor and fringe sporting Matt Smith used to play for Nottingham Forest youth team alongside Jermaine Jenas. Nottingham has the biggest market square in England at 5.5 acres Robin Hood was the best archer in Nottinghamshire in the 13th century until he was bested by Legolas Greenleaf. Previous Results The City Ground has been a reasonable hunting ground for Watford in recent years. In the last five fixtures there Watford have won three, drawn one and lost one. The last Forest victory at the City Ground was January 2014. Famous Forest fans: Stuart Broad, Joe Dempsie, Ken Clarke, Su Pollard and Friar Tuck. Watford had a huge morale boosting victory against Preston North End at home but whilst it is a good victory we need to vastly improve our results on the road where we have only obtain one win (against bottom club Derby) to date. Conversely Norwich City have picked up five wins on the road so far this season besting any other team away from home. We are likely to be without Andre Gray for this fixture with a hamstring injury whilst three other absentees due to Covid-19 remain sidelined. Forest will be without midfielder Jack Colback who was injured against Swansea. It will also be interesting to see what formation Ivic plays against Nottingham Forest, the 4-4-2 formation used against Preston was fruitful, but he may revert to a more defensive formation away from home. Prediction: Forest 1-1 Watford.
Tricky one to call. If the away form continues like it has done then Forest will probably do better than their league position suggests. So it will be up to us to try and repeat the weekend form. An upturn in away form I'll go something like 0-2, otherwise a 0-0 or 1-1 draw.
Brief thoughts. I think home vs. away in the COVID era is a statistical anomaly, not something to worry over or analyse. The new formation of 2 up top is clearly more to our advantage, especially with Deeney as one of the 2. He's made for that and always has been. I am interested to see what other clubs do to counter our new formations - now that they have a match or two to look at. I don't expect anyone to be caught unprepared. If they go more defensive, do we have the quality to "crack open the bunker"? If they attack our fullbacks, can we withstand it? Interesting times ahead.
Presumably the City Ground will be a cauldron on Wednesday, what with the fierce support of their 2,000... Oh, Tier 3.
