Good point. Forest had lost three in a row and only kept 3 clean sheets in 25 games so any result for us here is a positive. COYH
Can't wait to get Sema and Caps back. Chalobah is utterly awful and should have been sent off. Take the point against Hughtonball. A point gained on the top 2. Dull as dishwater.
I cant watch any more of this ****. Ivic has defensive tactics but the sight of pass after misplaced pass and weong decision after wrong decision is just soul destroying. That is not bad coaching it is just **** **** **** players
I honestly couldn't actually give a crap about getting promoted if this is how it's going to be all season. Absolutely painful to watch 90% of the time. How can we find joy in promotion when the actual football is so consistently and utterly joyless? God forbid we do go up and he's in charge next season. Every game will be an away performance.
I was insulted on here back on Saturday evening for daring to suggest we enjoy the Preston win while it lasts because no doubt it would be back to normal tonight. And guess what? It was. Another gash showing on the road. Only 3 goals scored now in EIGHT away league matches. Ivic is not getting the best out of the squad he inherited. Sooner or later we will mess up at home, and all those lame sterile displays on the road will look even more costly. We could have made a real statement tonight and gone top. We deserve better than this.
Come off it. Quique last season was our worst managerial appointment ever, even moreso than Bassett/Vialli.
Horrible to watch. So infuriating. We absolutely thrashed Preston with more or less the same team and setup, and could barely create anything. Clearly Ivic just settles for draws on the road. Thatd be fine if we were in the prem trying to stay up and playing the big 6, but its nowhere near good enough for auto promotion. We need to play every game to win. We need in the region of 85-90 points for automatics, and drawing literally every away game won't do that. I can see us finishing in the play off places then ******* it up at Wembley (as of course we are wont to do).
Like I get that we're not exactly going to go all gung-ho away from home, but I just cannot for the life of me understand the massive difference between us at home and us away. It's definitely not all a case of us not being as attacking because it's simple things like passing to the next man that seem beyond us on our travels...
We will end this season a handful of points off where we want to be and this philosophy of taking a point and being happy as it keeps us up there will proove to be not enough. Arters a ****** though.
You know what, it definitely looks that way.! Maybe Vlad really is waiting to get a fully fit squad together and just buying some time...?
We were doomed last season regardless, and even Flores wasn't quite this painfully dull, both in terms of his football and his personality. Literally everything about Ivic is as dull as can be. His football is dull, he looks dull, his personality is dull. Dull.
Bright start which dissipated quickly. Slow tempo. Negative backwards and sidewards. Lack of accuracy in passing. Lack of crosses. Lack of shots. Simple really. No goals. Need to get this passing and tempo sorted out away. Forest were happy for a point and mediocre but could have snatched a win. Chalobah poor again. Won't miss him on Saturday. Goes without saying the away form has to change soon. And those set pieces. Appalling does not describe them. Take a look at yourself Garner. If you want to be a PL player you will need to pull your socks up. Festive at the Vic, no festive cheer at the City Ground: Thank you NHS: Deeney blazes the best chance wide: Cathcart off at the end with a hamstring strain:
Holy crap that was dull. Neither team deserved it, poor match and the scoreline reflects that. Thank god Norwich and Swansea lost and Reading drew. Good results for us but in typical Watford style we fail to capitalize I would rather draw than lose but christ put some effort into it. Point gained yes, performance was abysmal away again as Forest sat back and held out. Bit of pressure from us at the end but what about the other 89mins Free scoring Cardiff next, Fan's back too. I hope to god the 2000 who do go get entertained more. Really cannot think of much else to say. Boring Boring Watford on the road again.
Think this may be an opinion you might reassess tomorrow mate. Think you forgot just how bad it was under QSF.
I genuinely think if we could get £30m I’d take it. He looks like he doesn’t want to get tackled. He has the quality to smash every fullback in the division, but just passes it back /sideaways nine times out of ten. Get some players in who have the cajones for this league.
I'm just well aware of how bad it is now. Honestly, it should be easy to feel excited to be near the top, but I don't think I've ever found football to be so depressing. It's utterly joyless to watch week in, week out.
Exactly, if we could get £30m for him then we could build a separate championship winning team on top of the squad we’ve already got. I think we’d struggle to get £3m at the moment though.
This team really know how to take the joy out of supporting them. An abject performance not worthy of any praise. Such a drop off from the positivity after Saturday’s game. Only positive is that we didn’t lose.
Special shout out to Garner tonight for his various styles of corners. His famous "Scuff It Straight To The First Defender", was only bettered by his "Hoof It Straight Over Everyones Head For A ******* Throw In". Can't wait to see the weekly "how's Garner getting on?" ******** from United fans on Twitter...
Nor could I. I don't want to go up to then get smacked 8-0 by Man City. Being bored in the Prem was fine because the riches and coverage and quality of player and all that made it worth it. But if we were going to be entertained in any season, this was it, ah well.
I lost my connection on the red button and never got it back. Win on Saturday and it's a good point from a lethargic performance. Draw or lose and it's not. Clearly a grind with so many matches and whilst it's not ideal I am reminded of how different Preston were last night. Not being able to watch the second half I was willing The Owls to hold on with ten against Reading. They did, albeit with Reading denied a certain penalty and two others possibly. It's hard work and there is a great deal of football to be played. Fingers crossed for Saturday as I have a match.
Under Flores last season we scored 4 goals in his 5 away matches in charge. That’s better than the 3 we’ve scored in 8 away games under the Serbian Southgate, and in a higher league too. I appreciate we had a 0-8 in that run, but we didn’t have to endure all these awful 0-0 draws that make you feel like you’ve wasted 90 minutes of your life that you will never get back. Again I appreciate we had some of those awful 0-0s at home instead, and I was in no way a fan of his return last year..but I’m just saying even during that horrific period last season we scored slightly more freely on the road than we are doing now.
Each to their own - But I’m curious about how you feel regarding the recent home form given they’ve been more “lively” games. I see where you’re coming from around football being dull, but to me it’s accentuated by lack of fans, the fact we’ve had non stop football since last August pretty much, and then the whole “best of the rest” promises on top of that.
Had we lost there would have been murder on here! However I think we have realised that win at home and draw away is the way we are going this season, that would also get us automatic promotion!
Nah, I was relatively happy with the result there, they're a better side and the performance wasn't as bad, but this? Pffft, we didn't lose, and it's another game closer to having the Covid 3 back, but I'm really struggling to think of anything else positive about that game
What a dreary 90 minutes. That's probably the performance of Ivic's dreams but it's an awful watch for the fans. Worrying that no-one could do the basics tonight. Chalobah had one of his ever-too-frequent howlers, but he wasn't the only one who was sloppy throughout. No attacking threat from the fullbacks - I'm guessing that was an Ivic special tactical choice. It left too few attacking players to break down Forest's defensive shape. Forest also closed us down more than Preston at the weekend, which forced a lot of errors. On the plus side, defence looked good. What a slog this season will be.
I can predict the state of this thread without even needing to read it. It was pretty similar to Bristol City - our opponents were at home and played for a draw, and they got it. We weren't great and of course it's annoying that our away performances are so consistently drab, but overall we're still in decent shape. It's far from the end of the world.
