The only way we could get Troy to do anything like that would be with the aid of an electric wheelchair.

I remember Troy saying at the stat of the season he has never felt "fitter" than he has. I do agree he is quite slow and laboured. but he is a better finisher than
Gray by a country mile. I just wish we had him in those scoring chances in games. As few as their have been, he generally does work the keeper at least.

Gray would/could be a great player - he has good pace and can get into areas, but that's it. He has the touch of a piece of soap half the time, and can't hit the ball
with any real conviction. If he had scored the variety of chances he has had this season, we might not be in this position. It's not age, he is still young in footballer
terms. My worry is, is it too late for him to improve?

If we had a striker with the pace and movement of Gray and the finishing of Deeney then we'd be fine for a number 9.

However, as you say, for the last few seasons Troy only gets in to scoring positions when he is left completely unmarked in the penalty box then given the ball on a silver platter, because he simply doesn't have the means to escape the attention of defenders - it is a rare occurrence for a CF to be left in acres of space in the penalty box in the PL, but he usually finishes on the few occasions it happens to him. Meanwhile, Gray manages to get himself in to many great scoring opportunities but only finishes about 1 in 4 of them.

Anyone hear Pearce's story about Nigel vs a Pack of Wolves?

    Delofeu is worse.

    Gerard Deulofeu

    600 mins per goal
    1199 mins played

    Andre Gray

    346 mins per goal
    691 mins played

Plus you have to factor in that Gray doesn't start as well so has to make more of an impact in less time.

Deulofeu is absolutely NOT a striker. Gray is. The goals per minute comparison is not valid.

No, he’s been stuck up there because our real strikers are injured and/or no good.

Grays pace and movement this has made me physically laugh out loud. He has no pace whatsoever. The only movement he's capable of is in the toilet.

He does get in good positions tbf. Certainly compared to Troy. Having thought about it, maybe the opposition deliberately leave him unmarked, due to his chronic shitness? (I love it when I beat the swear-filter).

I wouldn't be surprised if Deulofeu asked to be played up-front. It would explain all the shooting from corners etc. I genuinely think he aimed to score lots of goals this season and earn a move to a bigger team.

Can people please, please stop talking about Gray's "pace". The man is slow as s**t. The notion that he has "pace" is a steaming pile of dung, much the same as the "Deeney gives anyone a hard time" crap.

Do you have anything positive to say about anyone ?! Pereyra as he is in your picture?

    ;)

Gray probably looks fast but doesn't run past people or get in behind enough .

This is a thread about the new head coach. What he's said is that he and his staff will be doing their level best to get the best out of our playing staff over the next weeks and months.

So is there any chance that you could give it a rest, buy into that new positivity and press the reset button for a bit? Because what's perfectly clear is that Pearson wouldn't tolerate having someone with such a negative outlook around his operation at all.

No, not really. We're 6 points adrift at the bottom of the league and have won 1 game in 21, so...

I really won't apologise for being sick of watching utter crap like Gray embarrass themselves on the pitch at this football club for two years now. You can see my last post for what else I have to say on that subject. When there's a genuine reason to stop being "negative" then maybe I will be. Maybe.

The one thing I will say is that I have been impressed with how Pearson has come across so far. That's as good as it gets for now.

Well it's a start I suppose. Pearson's very high media profile so far has also been designed to engender an 'all in it together' mentality around the club to include the support base. And to point out that the only way to get out of our current negative situation is to remain positive and optimistic.

I'm well aware of Mr Gray's shortcomings b.t.w. and have eluded to them a number of times on here myself. But I don't feel the need to sound off as if I hate him.

So if there's a genuine reason to stop being negative then 'maybe' you'd desist. So that's just a 'maybe' then. Which suggests 'maybe' you wouldn't. Just for the sheer hell of it like?

Credit where credits due. He nearly got an assist from his worldy pass to Van Dyke. He'd obviously seen Doucs shooting ability earlier and thought f u c k it i give it straight to their defenders.

Interested to know what everyone's thoughts are on Pearson being given a chance next season even if we go down?
If we put up a fight and win a handful of games before the end of the season they should back him!
Or, do you think his appointment is with a Championship challenge next season already in mind?

  34. wfc4ever

    wfc4ever Administrator Staff Member

Well surely unless he is a total disaster or doesn't want to stay surely we have to keep Pearson on as he knows the Championship well ?

As for that video - lots of praise for the defence and Gomes there!

Not much for the forwards - a lot of "finish" being shouted !!

The first fluffed attempt is often what happens in reality!!!'

Looks like Cameron Green is back from his loan at Braintree at 3:18.

No surprises to see Delboy and Sarr typically shooting straight at the keeper, and Hughes missing the target. There were a couple of decent finishes in there from Quina and Success though.

I don't think I've ever seen Chalobah run as fast as in that vid.
