I actually quite like the idea of signing Garry Monk, but I don't think he'll come here. Think about it; he resigned from Leeds because he felt like the club was unable to commit to him (he wanted a three-year contract, I heard). If he didn't want to be there because they wouldn't give him a longer contract, then I can't see negotiations going well with him.
Just a gut feeling but I don't think monk is right fit for our cosmopolitan squad, I still think herr Schmidt is the way forward.
Mazzarri linked with Palace job!!!! Please let this be so http://www.croydonadvertiser.co.uk/...ford-manager/story-30355830-detail/story.html
re: Schmidt - I wonder if it is a bit of brinkmanship going on - If Schmidt had talks he was clearly the first choice - I still think it may happen - I hope it does - think he would be great and better than the others mentioned Its all very well saying our model doesn't value the impact of the manager / head coach as much as others - but to progress we then need a better structure if the head coaches contribution is limited
The worst part of the Russian ownership at AFCB is that they must fly the Russian flag outside the ground at all times witbout fail.
And our owners (well, Giampaolo Pozzo) were involved in match-fixing. Basically, most Football owners are dodgy one way or another.
This has just made my day. Not sure who I'm laughing at more. Mazzari being lumbered with Palarse or Palarse being lumbered with Mazzari Actually thinking about it a little bit they're a perfect match.
Listening to TalkSport at lunch and they seem to think Palace could name a new boss as early as this afternoon.
Hoping for a manager to regard us as their first choice is less likely really, since we have a bad reputation. If someone has two options, I'm not sure why they would risk coming to us, regardless of whether the reputation is deserved. Monk might decide we are a good option as opposed to Championship teams, but Schmidt / Silva have plenty of other options.
palace have regularly changed managers over the last few years, almost as many as us EDIT if you count change of manager (Millen has stood in 3 times as caretaker) then they have actually had more than us Zola Beppe Garcia Billy who never was Joka QSF Wally v Holloway Millen Pulis Millen Nigel Colin whatsisface Millen Pardew Fat Sam
Understand Gino had a meal with Ranieri at The Grove a week ago - possibly sounding him out about his opinion on possible appointment, assuming we are not seeking a Director of Football.
Strange how the odds on Silva have moved so suddenly without there being any press stories leaked in the past hour or two
Wow odds on all other managers apart from Silva have gone really long and Silva gone to odds on favourite . It seems someone has leaked something to one of the bookies and they ve all followed ... https://m.oddschecker.com/m/football/football-specials/watford/next-permanent-manager
Might be they have had a nod that Palace have lined up someone other than Silva and therefore leaving it wide open for us.
Agreed, they generally take their info from the same leaked articles we read . Unless a revealingly article is leaked the odds don't really move very much . However in the past 30mins they ve moved drastically without any news leak to prompt it . Silva is suddenly odds on favourite and all the others have gone from 3-1 to 10-1
... but Silva still odds on favourite for Palace job so it seems someone's leaked to the bookies that Silva is making a decision between the 2 clubs imminently .
