I can't wait for Deeney to grab his first goal of the season, hopefully I'm there, will be a great celebration.

We're 9th in The Prem. QFS clearly knows what he's doing.

QFS has converted him from a good winger into an exceptional left back.

GT & Wilf Rostron would be proud

I've looked at the league table about 15 times since the full time whistle. We are Watford FC, we're 9th in the league!

  5. Abdi also plays the same way as Jurado this season, slows things down and keeps the ball, plays percentage football, if in doubt go back. I think it's how QSF wants them to play.

Trouble with dropping players like Jurado is he has been part of a TEAM that have only lost 1 game this season away to Man City. I thought he was ok first half personally.

And I dont agree Anya is that great a left back, hes not a left back his best performances in a Watford shirt has been attacking down the right especially under Zola. Our left side has been our weakest side defensively, Nyom has been exceptional on the other side in comparison. Its catch 22 situation though, as Holebas there and we lose Anya's attacking pace on that side so understand why he plays.

A fairly routine win against what we all suspected was going to be a pretty average side and one of the easiest away fixtures we'll have this season. Out-classed them in the first half and made them look better than they were by sitting back a little too much in the second (which was understandable). The booing all round the ground at half time was such a satisfying (if totally predictable) sound.

Nyom was incredible again, but having that side of the pitch effectively sealed up made them play down the other wing where Anya was exposed time after time. I don't know if that was because of a lack of support, but I'm beginning to think he'd be better off used as a purely attacking option later on. Very happy to admit I was wrong about his overall play at this level, he certainly doesn't look out of place, at least going forward.

Deeney looks like he's trying to take too many touches in front of goal, and the ball gets trapped under his boots to often - almost like he hasn't adjusted to the speed at which defenders at this level close him down. I feel sorry for defences when he does get up to speed. His delicate assisting play and vision is truly remarkable for someone who could easily be written off as a mere bulldozer. Love the bloke.

So pleased for Guédioura. His late cameo was assured and important. We didn't look like conceding from the moment he came on.

Gomez is class. You could see their forward line drop their heads a little more after each save and commanding collect.

Ighalo, in contrast to Deeney, seems to have an eternity to decide what to do with the ball. A proper PL striker.

Things would have been even easier with Behrami, but Watson fought well (he looked a mess at the end!) and got a well deserved ovation.

Abdi was untroubled throughout - or at least made it seem that way.Obviously he willed it so.

Other performances were probably just as good as those singled out above, but I have a limited understanding of the subtle nuances of football and they passed me by I'm afraid. We just looked comfortable for the majority of the match as I expected us to.

So pleased we got the win against a sickly club in desperate need of taking out back and shooting in the back of the head. Their delusions of grandeur are slowly fading I'm pleased to note - the penny's finally dropping with an increasingly large number of their god awful supporters. In reality, all they have to look forward to is an inconsequential rivalry with an equally insignificant and rotten Sunderland.

It's nice of Sunderland to go down with them though.

  9. I know we've had 'moments' with them last year, but its nice to see all 3 promoted sides outside the bottom, along with Lesta doing well. The leagues all a bit topsy turvey at the moment.

Yea I agree. As long as we say up comfortably I'll be very happy if they all stay up with us. Fek the big clubs!

Quite incredibly, if Capoue hadn't missed an open goal versus Southampton we'd be in a Champions League spot this evening.

some interesting stat's from the BEEB...

    * This was only the third time in their Premier League history that Watford led by two goals at half-time, and the first time away from home

    * This was just Watford's fourth Premier League victory away from Vicarage Road (of 13 Premier League wins)

Because Fox sports nl decided to show Bournemouth - Sunderland on tv :sick1: i couldn't watch the game.
But how did my countryman Berghuis play in the fifteen minutes he was on the field?

A few Newcastle "lads" on the train home. Never met such well behaved youths. All tanked up but still coherent and obviously love football and their club . Even took their empty cans with them at Darlington . Great advertisement for lowering the drinking age.

I don't care if Deeney never scores this season. If he keeps playing like he is, he doesn't need to.

I thought he did well in as much as he can do in such a short space of time. Looks like he's growing in confidence.

Disagree on Jurado, thought he did well especially defensively today and whilst he did slow down the attacks, I saw it as holding it up for everyone else to push out and relieve the pressure. Whilst he hasn't shown himself to be the game changer YET, it's only a matter of time.

As soon as I start to get happy about the win, someone has to mention Jurado and ruin it for me. Takes the shine of it for me. He's ruining the season.

in all fairness to Newcastle they should have had a penalty, but we should also have been already a goal up by then. Iggy missed the target for once.

Shoulda Woulda Coulda. We deserved to win & we did.

Great win. All very positive, it's a good foundation we've established.

Deeney's looking good in his new role and the attackers really are showing improvements in fluidity, what we all hoped for. Very good.

Just read that Newcastle were poor today and that was the reason we won.

We are JUST the luckiest club in the league to be playing every game against an opposition who were poor.

Phew, if we can keep this run of luck going , fingers crossed, we might be able to play all 38 games against teams having their one bad game of the season.

Just seen we have the same goal difference as Arsenal and as we all know goal difference is worth a europa league spot.

Excellent win secured by a brilliant performance for sixty minutes then a bit of grit and luck in the last half hour. We seemed far more open from the start which I presume was a gamble we were prepared to take as this was a great opportunity for three points. Nyom was fantastic, I don't think he had to make a sliding tackle all game because he is so strong and quick that people can't get that yard on him. Anya was clearly targeted in the second half and was unfortunate to be marking a physically stronger Sissoko and have Jurado not tracking Janmaat's runs.

Jurado looks like a good player short of confidence. He kept the ball well for the most part but even if you are a slightly built, flair player you should still be making it as difficult as possible for the opposition to attack down your side - Berghuis lost the ball a couple of times and then went flying into tackles to win it back. Leaving Anya two on one several times did not reflect well on Jurado and it was no surprise when Ake and Anya shored up the left side.

Watson played well until he tired and I thought he should have come off 10-15 minutes earlier. Ighalo has ice in his veins in front of goal at the moment but also did some excellent donkey work holding the ball up and running the channels.

As for Deeney, he has played so much better in the last two games, he's more involved in that position and looks like he loves terrorising Premier League defenders. His passing and all round play has improved so much since he came back into the team in 2012/13 and once he starts scoring he will go up another level. He's taking one touch too many when he gets an opportunity at the moment, it looks like he is trying to make extra sure he's going to hit the target.

Overall, a great result and good to see that this team has as much character as last season's. We look mentally strong and won't crumble under pressure - we'll lose to better teams this season, might be unlucky against worse teams but this lot don't look like they'll bottle it.
