Newcastle haven't had the best of starts so far, scoring just 2 goals, the lowest amount scored by a team in the top 4 divisions. This hasn't been helped by the reckless sending off of Mitrovic against Arsenal. I believe McClaren will stick with Cisse up front, despite the stick he's received from Shearer this week. As for Watford, other than the forced change due to Behramis suspension, I think we'll see the introduction of Ibarbo along with Anya moved up to the wing to keep Janmaat occupied and therefore not being able to commit himself too far up the pitch as he's by far Newcastles biggest threat from deep.

    Prediction + Bets

All things considered, Newcastles lack of goals as well as Watfords fantastic defensive record (conceding the 4th least amount of goals so far this season, behind City, Utd and Arsenal). I think a Watford win and clean sheet is great value at 4/1 from PaddyPower, Skybet + Betvictor. The more cautious may find Watford win at 2/1 or Newcastle to score under 1.5 goals at 1/2 better value for money.

I'm predicting either a 1-0 or 2-0 win for Watford, with Deeney finally bagging his first Premier League goal.

I'm in the Geordie end for this one, so if you see a little yellow speck in the home end getting a kicking that is me.

Have to say looking at those line ups that our pace on the flanks would give them a hard time in a game they are under huge pressure to win. Fancy us to win this one.

    No Ighalo, Reids?

Looking at their injury list, the pressure to move off the foot of the table and the ongoing war between the fans and Mike Ashley, I think we have a fair chance of getting all 3 points here.

The movement off the ball between the front 4 last weekend was much better, and because of it, more chances were being created. More of this please, Quique!!

I doubt there will be a better time to play Newcastle this year. Not only are they playing crap with a bunch of injuries, they know they need to win this game. They have a very hard run of fixtures right after us - Chelsea, Man City and the Wear-Tyne derby in the next four. They'll be coming at us for sure because we're the most winnable game they've got for a while.

Should create some great space for us.

I imagine he will indeed play Ighalo with Jurado on the wing. This was more my preference/burning wish.

  8. Think we will be unchanged, or Ibarbo on for Abdi

The are extremely vulnerable to a bit of pace.

I think Ibarbo might have a bit of a field day for this one.

Ibarbo is unproven at this level - dont pretend hes something hes not without watching him yet.

As regards to the game - its not easy to predict. The first goal will be vital - if we get it first then I can see at least a draw and a good chance of a win. It wont be a high scoring game but we must not be complacent as we will still have to be at our best. I expect Abdi or Ighalo to start.

I hope we dont go to Newcastle employing a 4-6-0 formation in the first half as we did at City

Agree with your line up but would drop Jurado for Ighalo, needs to earn his place.

I doubt we will adopt that formation, but I think QSF would be more than pleased with keeping Newcastle from playing (much like we did v Swansea) and the Toon crowd doing half the job for us by getting on their players' backs.

Man City was by far an exception in terms of setup. 4-6-0 against one of the best teams in Europe in attack.

    I expect to see a 4-2-3-1.

Oh hey it's my virtual stalker.

Major flaw - Ibarbo hasn't had a chance to earn it yet..

Jurado has been poor for two games in a row

    Well done.

  16. Played in the world cup quarter final, how much 'level' do you want?

If you meant time to adjust to the prem then yes agree he will need a dozen games to get used to the speed and way the game is played over here

Frustratingly I get the impression Jurado is QSF's golden boy and will be the first name on his team sheet.

Could irritate other players and will certainly irritate me.

Here we go.. are you not allowed to air anything remotely negative on this forum?

I'm not writing Jurado off, he can and will be a quality asset for us but

He was poor last week and personally I think Ibarbo and Anya would be better on the wings leaving the middle spot for Jurado at the expense of Ighalo but can you really drop him after he scored last week?

Jurado has been crap in the three home games iv watched apart from the last 30 mins against Swansea where he kept the ball well, his delivery and decision making has been awful or am I missing something..

You can say whatever you want mate, his delivery has been ****e but overall, he's been fine.

  25. Arakel

More accurately, his delivery from corners and free kicks has been ****e. He's been quite reasonable from open play, see: delivery to Berghuis that was blasted right at Fabianski.

As I said in another thread, there is a good player in there, but he still has a lot more settling in to do. It's hard to justify him being picked without question based on performances so far. If it came down to Jurado and Abdi (and trying to be objective), Almen has offered just as much going forwards so far this season and a hell of a lot more defensively.

Ighalo is undroppable, Anya seems to be preferred at LB.

So the three behind the striker should probably be Abdi, Deeney/Ighalo + one of Jurado, Ibarbo and Berghuis.

So glad to see Abdi back playing well.Jurado will be dropped, had atleast 8 clear chances to deliverer crosses last week and only 1 was decent. Not good enough for the prem in my opinion, don't get many chances need to take atleast 2 out of 3 not none out of 8.

Now we have got the win the pressure is off us, massive pressure on them at the min so if we get in front I fancy us getting a second..

I'd be well chuffed with a draw though.

Jurado has been ok, nothing more. Some decent stuff and some poor. He is obviously a quality player and will likely improve greatly.

Abdi has performed better IMO. His play is more direct , his passing more incisive and he looks more likely to score than Jurado. He is also better defensively and tactically, from what Jurado has shown so far.

However the reality seems to be Jurado is top of QSFs list for the front 3. I think it is this that people have a problem with.

Yes he will improve, but he needs to do that coming on from the bench at this current point.

There are too many high quality players being passed over for gametime while we wait for Jurado to click.

Jurado has genuine class ... just give him another five minutes will you?

  33. The front 4 are from Deeney, Ighalo, Jurado, Abdi, Ibarbo, Berghuis, Diamanti and Oulare. (QSF seems to like Anya as full back)

5 of them are learning the league

Not saying Jurado has been perfect because he hasn't, but who should be in his place? Who has clicked any faster? Have any of them?

In fairness that's not representative of their board and some complete tool of a Watford fan has gone up there to wind them with a far more obnoxious post. Most of them aren't expecting to win and they've got a whole thread on how bad they are. One poster mentions that other than Blackpool they have the lowest points per game in 2015 - had a quick look at their record since the turn of the year and it's 3 wins, 6 drawers and 16 defeats.

We should be going up there with no fear whatsoever, knowing that if we perform to our potential we will cause them problems. Their fans have already turned on McClaren as they see him as too defensive - there are lots of comments about no shots on target in the last two games and isolated strikers. Now where have we heard that before?

  35. Otter

I agree he has a natural class about him, I think what's going wrong is no more than a bit of self doubt, so much so that he can't hit a decent dead ball over the first defender, he needs someone in the club to get his head straight IMO and he will be just fine.
