I know stats don't tell the whole picture because they don't tell you the general pattern of play and aren't always an accurate reflection of the number of clear-cut chances (as some chances can go just wide or hit the woodwork, as opposed to those that are easy saves) but Huddersfield had five shots on target with 45% possession whereas we had only four with 55%, and we had 12 shots overall to their 11 (we needed 13 shots to match their shots per possession, so we underperformed even leaving aside the fact we were playing at home). Were the three shots that Huddersfield failed to score from routine saves from Hamer following us cheaply losing possession in our half rather than well-worked moves from them?

An obsession with the idea of 4-4-2 is the true mark of a gammon chunterer. How does he know 'the players have been brought up on it', apart from anything else?

Much more likely that they have not, at this point in time, and as actual footballing tacticians (of which I am not one in the slightest) will tell us, the idea of starting in a 4-4-2 then defining how we play the game and what roles the players fulfil over the 90 minutes is outdated and naive.

Exactly and as much as it might be dull because we aren’t good at it football is very much now a possession based game really .

I certainly don't believe that if we just switched to 4-4-2 as suggested, we have the players to suddenly spring into action blood and thunder style and become the second coming of Val's Barnsley, for a variety of reasons. Pie in the sky moonman thinking from Wendover there, shockingly!

We struggled badly in the first 25 mins on Saturday because our midfield was completely ****, how would Rajovic have helped if we weren't even able to get the ball into the opposition third?

I must admit, while I look forward to every Watford game, i'm looking forward to this less than any other Watford game this season!

Exactly - you would need someone to hold the ball up or run into it .

It’s also 4-4-2 with Ince and Martins up front!

I think Livermore needs to play as Millwall are going to be trying every trick in the book and we need someone in the ref's ear. Get three centre backs on the pitch because we're obviously going to give away stupid set pieces. Val will probably play:

    Hamer

    TDB
    Porteous
    Hoedt
    Lewis

    Ince
    Livermore
    Chakvetadze

I get the feeling, even though the Huddersfield match was supposed to be a change in the way we’ve been playing, this match will really be a radical switch in terms of momentum and formation.

But if we go there and get turned over, I think that’s it for Val.

It could be an interesting match and I think expect to see something different in terms of the way we set up.

He's at that difficult age where intervention us needed, and in this case it'll probably be a fat Millwall fan in a stone island cap shouting at us for 90 minutes to deliver it.

I wonder if we'll get a response like following the last stick-or-twist potential Ismael sacking moment after the Sunderland game?

He won’t change a thing, apart from swapping Dennis for Rajovic due to injury and possibly Sierralta for Livermore like he did against Rotherham. The plan will remain the same: Keep possession in our own half and see what happens. Wait for the game to open up, but at that point we will be 2 or 3 goals behind already.

I always enjoy Millwall away but I've got a feeling that Saturday's match might be an unwelcome and depressing way of interrupting a jolly afternoon's boozing in Borough Market

I couldn't bring myself to watch Udders and I think this is going to be the same.

Val loves to keep it as it is as much as possible. Now, we need a shake up more than ever. Dennis is dead too now.

We are DOOMED, DOOMED I TELL YA.

South London away days are the best in the country bar none. Drink in London Bridge before and after, food from Borough Market, decent away following. Literally can't beat it.

Easy solution to that is tell him every time he's about to shoot, imagine he is playing against Watford. Loved bagging goals against us in the past.

The trouble with away days for me is that I pay money (for some unknown reason) to go to all these different places. Some are nice (particularly liked Norwich) and some are Rotherham levels of industrial waste land. But regardless of where I go, I always end up watching what is supposed to be two professional football teams (playing a match in the second highest league in the country) struggle to kick a ball to someone in the same shirt as them for 90 minutes.

Still it's the hope that kills you isn't it

It appears Millwall have had a boost. Not got high expectations for this one . Would at least like them to win the fight unlike vs Huddersfield even if we’re not exactly to see a display of attacking football .

Rajovic up front isn’t working but he’s the only striker we currently have available so gawd only knows what the best option is . Maybe a false 9 Ince or Martins . Pollock at least should be well up for it to put that nightmare performance from last season to bed.

Rang up earlier after my daughter's game tomorrow was called off and and there were only 3 tickets left. I decided against it...

Despite the cack on the pitch, our away following has been pretty decent this season.

I've heard through a tenuous link that the squad have been told to play for a 0-0 today.

I know it's hardly revelatory based on our recent performances but it's pretty depressing (if it's true).
