I've had dealings with more than one of the convicted and I am glad that they've been put away by the police and the courts.

Reece Salmon (who is a complete scrote) is a FB friend and seemingly old schoolfriend of a recent Watford youth pro, Charlie Rowan.

I recognise from social media that many of Salmon's mates ( I firmly stress not Rowan, who is a perfectly honourable and nice chap) as criminals, and some of them have local West Herts links. Or local girlfriends.

Which goes to show how close to home this stuff can be. I hope our club has pastoral care and a watching eye on our youth team who are drawn from some tough neighbourhoods and could get caught up in bad influences.

I will not name another recent promising Watford youth team player of the same generation who the club quietly let go, who was from the same part of London, who, instead of staying in his digs as he should, kept chuffing off back to Central London ostensibly "to see his mum" but in reality was really hanging out "in his yard" with his crew.

    I Blame Pozzo First Team

I heard Glenn Johnson during the week and he said that many of the players that were with him in youth teams and didn't make the cut turned to drugs or crime or both. Some had died.
The role the academies have is crucial but if tennis is anything to go by,a lot of the coaches are more interested on improving their cv than the impact it has on the 'failing' of the rejected player.
    Morally bankrupt in many regards.

They all seem to "work" at Ralph Lauren as well.. which isn't far different to robbing Saint Laurent!

Not sure if you saw this today. Some wise words from our strikeforce regarding knife crime.

I thought Deeney was spot on with what he stated regarding role models.
