I think there may have been some doubts about his motivation early on in his Watford career, but since Javi came in and Capoue became such an important player, I have never had any doubt about Capoue's motivation.

He has been pretty comfortably our best player over the last 2 1/2 years and the fact that he makes stuff look so easy I think people mistake for him not trying.

I don’t doubt at all that’s Capoue wants to do the best he can in his career. It’s what he spends the vast majority of his time doing. Of course he’s motivated.

He’s never said he’s not motivated because he doesn’t like football. He said he doesn’t watch the game outside of his involvement within it and doesn’t get enjoyment from watching it. That’s fair enough.

For what it is worth Hughes has also said the same thing and noone doubts his motivation.

He used to watch loads of matches, but said as part of their job they have to watch footage of themselves and the opposition, and he just doesn't enjoy it like he used to do.

He’s a great player no doubt.

With top level application he would’ve made it at Tottenham, he has the skillset.

It’s only his attitude that his prevented him from playing for a Europa League level club IMO.

I think he was a victim of circumstance as much as anything at Spurs as well. Bought with the Bale windfall and was part of an iffy rebuild.

    His attitude is fine.

Any Premier League player has to be motivated to reach anywhere near that level and get in a first XI.

At least coming on and running your legs off in midfield can have some value in breaking up play when you're 1 up with 20 mins to go. Running like a dog chasing a ball from right back to left is a liability full stop.

Fair enough. He's got his uses going forward. Just can't defend for toffee. Typical converted winger tbh

Is Navarro even a footballer? There has to be a threshold for minimum number of games or something

That was a very good performance against a very strong Spurs team. Pleased I watched that.

Had my doubts when I saw the lineup, but this reaffirms what a good coach Ivic is. That side should have been well beaten on paper. A massive drop in quality from last season's side, but they are playing a system and are disciplined in it.

It was only 2-1, but Quina lobbed one just wide, Gray missed a great chance just before being hooked and Navarro should have taken that chance right at the end, Son did well to chase back to clear it.

It will take me a time to fully trust this side, and I hope it's not the bulk of the team we play with. I hope Ivic is holding back a few of the "star" players, because if they are all going, we're not going to have any depth.

Very impressed with Quina, Ngakia and Estupinan. Phillips was surprisingly effective. I liked Dele-Bashiru too and the defence as a unit played well.

I'd have concerns if we're going to bring in out of defence with Dawson, Cathcart or Kabasele. They are clear it quick merchants and cannot be trusted with the ball at their feet for too long.

Chalobah looked ok with the defensive side of his game, but moving it quickly in midfield he was poor.

Murray looked really bad and gave away a needless penalty, and Penaranda was hugely disappointing.

Gray did ok today, and the speed in which we play the ball through the midfield suits his style of play.

But we do need to keep some of the talent who have not featured in either friendly. No matter how promising today was, we're not going up with that team. Too many youngsters and academy players are being used. It's good to see in a way, but we're not playing at promotion this year. As Ivic said, he has to get promoted. That's the target.

Did Grimes clap the fans at the end of the game? That’ll help us know whether this was simply a goodbye run out, or a continuation of his Swansea career.
