https://www.planetswans.co.uk/2020/09/02/grimes-linked-with-watford-move/ This would be more like it. Though a bit of a dirty player. Absolutely the player we need. A leader and potential captain, huge potential, young but experienced. The sort of player that's the difference between promotion and playoffs. Which is why it won't happen. Also, he'll cost actual money to buy.
Under contract until 2022, so would cost money. Seems like it's a done deal according the that report. Story is now all over the Twitter world from respected blue tick accounts. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/swansea-city-watford-matt-grimes-18865236
That seems a good signing to me. Adds some much needed steel to our midfield with Doucoure and potentially Capoue off. We will need leaders with Deeney, Gomes, Mariappa and Holebas etc off and he is Swansea's captain. Also well versed in the the slog of championship football, playing every minute for Swansesa last season.

Blimey Charlie. A summer first. Linked with a player and everybody posting so far is positive about it! I’m off for a lie down
From his Wikipedia page: As a 15-year-old he was part of St Peter's AirBadgers Ultimate Frisbee team that won the Junior National Championships for the third year in a row in 2011. He was voted the most valuable player as AirBadgers beat Brighton in the final 13–1. Get. Him. In.
Now this would be an ideal signing at this level. Probably too good to be true though and we will end up signing some bin man from the Bulgarian league instead.
I know nothing about him other than what I've read online just now. Combative midfielder who is Swansea's club captain and who played every league match from Swansea last season. We'll need some bite in the midfield after Doucouré goes (and maybe Capoue too) so I'd be happy with this. Get it done, Gino.
Swansea genuinely have the worst set of forums known to man. So can't tell if their fans are bothered or not. On social media (which I don't believe anything on), fans are a bit split. Bit like Deeney and us. Sad to see him go but not the end of the world.
Swansea are short of money, yesterday they announced they are downgrading their academy from category one status. An opportunity to sign what sounds like a decent homegrown player with leadership qualities and the ability to stay fit over a long season, while not paying the full market price.
We should also be all over them for Joe Rodon as well in that case and re-unite him with Wilmot at the back.
Their forums are properly tinpot. If I'd hazard a guess, I'd say that whoever did their forums was also resnonsible for Internet Explorer.
Would be a good signing - good age and very good tackling and interception stats last season. He's also probably better at set-pieces than any of our current options as well. I wouldn't have thought we'd be willing to spend the money to bring in a player of his profile, so would be pleasantly surprised if it happened. Plus I already own a 'Grimes' t-shirt, so it will save me on buying the new club kit.
Hmmm. I reckon we have one signing like that in us this summer. There will be a few million to spend. I'd much rather it was a genuinely exciting non-OAP centre back though for that money. I wonder if Wilmot has said good things?
Yes and he is decent, he is energetic makes lots of tackles and interceptions, he is comfortable with the ball at his feet and he is a good passer.
Would be good at that price. Some Swansea fans think £15mil is the minimum they should be considering.
Uh oh. Not sounding very Watford-like. Does he make abusive posts on social media? Or really only like NBA? Or appear on French sports chat shows talking up a move to PSG? Or is he so fat every pre-season he barely looks professional? We need something recognisable to cling to in this summer of change.
