If he's going, i'm sure it is down to Suarez - I think Vlad has been clear he wants committed players, and if he isn't on board then he won't play. Financially - the Pozzo's will ensure they ain't losing a stack of cash on him. They love money.

The Serbian kid was nowhere near good enough for the servian league (which is why they sent him back) and i dont think he would get a work permit.

If he is refusing to play or Ivic wants rid - why would you not just sell him when bids come in? 13m is nowhere near enough but it is double what we will get next summer.

Loaning him out with 2 years left is absolutely dreadful business and we will lose him for nothing just like we lost one or the best full backs in spain for half his actual value.

This means we get no cash now and less cash in the future. Please explain how that shows the Pozzos love money?

Depends if there's loan fees involved to - Or a potential mandatory purchase at a set fee etc. We also don't know the situation in a year - If Suarez wants to play top level - suppose we get promoted and he sticks around after another good season with Granada - He could sign a new deal to have a crack at the Prem. As it stands we've heard very little from him directly - whether he wants to play in England, or move abroad, there's just been an agent who seems to enjoy tweeting. On the contrary if he didn't want to play in England, why would he accept a loan? He'd push for a permanent move and kick off something rotten. I think a lot of this depends on whether we can provide premiership football next year if he is on loan.

With Pervis, I think the key was upfront cash, and that might enable us to keep Sarr - Is that a bad deal? It's clear we've got to lose some players, and the market isn't what it was a year ago with the economic uncertainty.

    In what way?

It looks like an extremely bad deal both in a financial sense and it weakens us significantly as a team.

I accept sales have to be made to balance the books, but please do tell me Mr ITK what we are getting from loaning him out?

But what if we arent promoted? He has us by the ******** as we are forced to sell at a discount before he leaves on a free.

Seems daft to me two of our best strikers should go out on loan in case we are promoted mean while we are struggling to raise cash to reinvest in the actual squad to push for promotion.

I'm sure he realises that there isn't that much cash swirling around and that he's just happy enough playing in a top flight. Probably would rather have taken the €13m, even though I bet it would have caused a meltdown on here

    Two of our best strikers?

We don't know what discussions have taken place between Luis and the club. If there's a real risk (every deal has an element of risk) of losing him on a free we would have cashed in, and equally if he really did not want to be at Watford he'd be pushing for a transfer not a loan - why delay the inevitable? Capoue and Pereyra have requested transfers and he could do the same.

There's also nothing to say yet whether he can perform at a higher level - He's had one good season.

If the player didn't want to be at Watford at all, the offer would have been accepted if there actually was one (do we know for sure there was?). You don't reject 13m to then loan an unhappy player out - there is more too this than we know, and talks happen a lot between management and players.

Getafe played in Europa league last season and Granda are this season and thre is a reason they are after Suarez and Cucho and not Deeney, Murray, Perica and Gray.

Marseille never offered €13m for starters, they never even bid. Until we know the financial side of things for definite then there’s no point moaning about someone who never wanted to be here in the first place. A Spanish journalist DM’d me saying £3m loan fee with an obligation to buy of £15m. But if I’m honest, I don’t care if it’s a bad deal or not regarding players that don’t want to be here

That would be € rather than £, no? If true, that's not so bad I guess, €18m total in the end for him

Hopefully we loan him out for a year, get promoted and bring him back next summer.

And then just as he's all hyped for Premier League football, we sell him on deadline day to a team in Siberia.

  15. Chris on a bike here we go again...

Perhaps Marseille didn’t really offer 13m for him

Perhaps Ivic has looked at him and decided he’s really not that good after all

Perhaps Suarez has been playing up and refuses to stay

Perhaps Suarez has signed a new contract and the club have decided he’s not the finished article and is better off being out

Perhaps financially we still have to take what we can get

Dreadful decision to loan him out. Worst possible outcome. Sell him if anyone can come up with the cash. Otherwise sorry mate we tried but it you’ll just have to play for the club who pays your wages.

That's not how football works though is it, players have all the power these days and we can't afford to pay passengers for a season.

You have to put your foot down at some point. Given Suarez is on relatively low wages and has never played top flight I’d say this is a situation where it is possible to get the player to stay in line.. Agree you can’t take that stance with someone like Delefeou who is on high wages and proven top flight performer.

Clearly he doesn't want to be here and no one has made a serious bid to buy him outright now. What's the betting that the loan fee we are paying BHA for Murray will exceed the loan fee we get from Granada ?

None of them are the type of goalscorer that we need. If we could play all seven at once, then (maybe) they would probably offer a sufficient goal threat.

Agree with the general point that none of them are prolific scorers but West Brom and Leeds went up automatically last season and only had one player in the top ten scorers and that was Bamford with 16.

Think we were probably a bit spoiled twice having two 20+ goalscorers in the same team in 12/13 and 14/15. I doubt it's the norm!

In the press conference Vlad says he has 5 strikers . I’m assuming he means Sarr, Pedro, Deeney, Gray and Murray , so it seems like Suarez isn’t in his plans . Though I guess that could change if one of Deeney or Gray go and Suarez remains . .

Just because he doesnt want to be here doesn't mean we should be giving him away.

If those are the terms then I am more than happy to put my pitchfork away. If it is just a vanilla loan / option to buy I very much stand by my view that it is **** business.

I am personally worried about our quality in attack with him going and unless there is money coming in from his sale I dont see how we remedy that.

If he’s being loaned out because he’s downed tools (or refused to pick them up in the first place?) then we shouldn’t want him in the team if we go up. Exactly the type of player attitude that got us relegated last year.

We can’t say Ivic hasn’t been clear on the attitude he wants.

  33. Ainzrocker

A loan deal isn't a bad solution in and of itself, it depends on the terms.

All along its been clear that the club has wanted Suarez to stay unless their valuation is met. Suarez and/or his agent haven't exactly been entirely on board with that, and would appear he is after top flight football somewhere.

If we can't convince him to play in the Championship and no one is willing to pay the fee right now, a reasonable solution could be a loan deal, on the right terms, that generate some funds in fees and wage-relief, keeps the player and happy and leaves the door open for him to return assuming we get promoted to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

I've been of the opinion all along that we need Suarez because he's our only natural-born goalscorer. We got relegated in the first place because we forgot how to convert chances, we've scored twice in three games this season and none of the crop of available forwards are clinical enough to convince me they can bag enough goals to carry us to promotion. But if Suarez can't be the solution to that problem because he isn't willing to play, then at some point we need to accept that and cash in on the asset in a way that maximises value to the club. That could be a fee with heavy loan, locking in a lucrative option to buy but allowing him to return to Premier League football in the future.

I imagine we wanted to keep him but have given in to him / his agent as we are struggling to find moves for Deeney and Welbeck.

I personally hope that Granada only have an option / obligation to buy if we don't get promoted, and we are only letting Suarez go on the basis he signs a new contract with us if we are promoted.
