So, looks like a Leicester City employee has sold footage of the helicopter taking off and then losing control to the Sun. Taken on a mobile phone so very clear. Can't imagine they'll have a job much longer.

I notice the Sun are claiming its just so they can pass it onto investigators.

Not before they can get a few click baits.

That footage should have just been sent straight to the investigation team. Aside from clickbait there is no reason for the public to see it. Can't see how the individual can keep their job and even if they do their colleagues will look at them in disgust. They basically filmed their boss die and made money out of it.

Reflects a Me, Me, Me mentality which has sadly become acceptable & indeed prevalent.

Flipping things around though, can you think of a good reason for it not to be? We live in an age of instant news and information at our fingertips. So long as appropriate warnings are attached to the footage why shouldn't it be in the public domain?

It’s certainly the best thing to do, after something bad happens the sooner you put some trousers on and leave the house the better.

I’ll be quite surprised if they don’t go and absolutely tear Cardiff to shreds.

This is an informative piece, regarding how the accident most probably occurred. They call it a "Dead man's curve".

Basically, the helicopter was travelling too slowly and the altitude was too low. The pilot had to perform a vertical take-off because it was in the middle of a football stadium. So it has to go straight up before it can move forward. For the tail rotor to fail at this precise moment was the worst possible timing. The helicopter was at it's most vulnerable at this stage.

There was nothing a pilot could have done in this situation. You can only survive this type of failure had the helicopter been at a higher altitude and was moving forward. A pilot could then cut the engine and glide to land. In this situation, they just didn't have a chance.

Filbert, I’d normally be the last to say this kind of thing but I hope tomorrow helps for you & your lot.

It’s cruel but it’s the human condition that someone who was instrumental in your great success is so harshly treated by fate.

So put on your trousers, forget about Deeney & be proud of your club.

Reading the comments on the BBC site of the Cardiff v Leicester game I noticed quite a few negative and almost disrespectful comments from some who maybe aren't Leicester or even football fans.

Maybe some won't like the week long grieving the Leicester players and staff have gone through but that is up to them and not sure it deserves criticism.

Some were complaining the other 4 tragically killed had been forgotten about but unfortunately you will get in multi death events - even more so when one was such a high profile public figure (in football and for Leicester)

They cannot control what the media write and report - and credit to their players for getting on with the game and winning.

Probably the biggest tribute they could have paid.

In all honesty it's something GT would have applauded. Not only would he have been impressed and pleased by the investment in the community by the owners of Leicester but by us fans rallying around in this fashion.

As for the coverage of the incident the BBC really needs to work at times on it's journalism. What happened to making sure of the facts ? It descended into speculation from it's reporters and while Dan Roan was also speculating and people are free to do so it was rather careless and insensitive of him to be spouting what he did. All the more considering had he done a little research which always helps a decent journalist that the speculation he was commenting on was nonsense as the lady in question was a lesbian. We should all wait for the report from the AAIB to relate it's findings.

As I have said before there is far too much tribalism today in football and much of it is plain stupid or nasty and completely unnecessary coming from keyboard warriors who plainly have little else going on in their lives. This separation of physical contact is to blame. Needless stereotypes, rudeness and little focused on actual football. How many of us would actually talk to individuals as some do on social media if we met them face to face ? Considerably fewer I should hope. Everyone supports their particular club and it should be no cause for jibes and insults.

And the same should apply to forums. I think it is rather disappointing that we do not get more fans from other clubs coming on here to discuss their club or views. Partly because they rightly fear being lampooned having to add X-fan in peace. Apart from the obvious trolls I think Filbert is the sole fan of another club who has been a regular. I don't mind at all the fans that have been going to Foxestalk and adding their condolences. It's to show solidarity and nothing else compared to some on social media who like Stevo has said have turned such events into mawkish attempts to outdo each other in displays of feigned grief. And something that stems from the Diana debacle when as far as I am concerned the nation embarrassed itself over someone who was not a saint as she was painted to be. Some of those grieving probably gave not one care to the familiar tales of isolated relatives who die alone and uncared for we hear about sadly every week.

To put that into perspective after the Munich air crash there was none of this baiting that has occurred after this event in Leicester (take the Red Issue for instance) but a general feeling of sadness from all clubs and good will to Manchester United but none of these overt grief or written expostulations but an acceptance of events. Perhaps that is because the generation experiencing it were had already been through two World Wars and showing open grief was not socially acceptable. Unfortunately today people are do desperate for their fifteen minutes of fame they will do anything to get it no matter how vacuous or nauseating it is.

The individual who was trying to sell his footage should be ashamed of himself. People have died or are dying within the wreckage and the first thought is to keep filming rather than thinking these people might need help and have friends and family who would be mightily disturbed seeing the video. As the police often say the number of times they catch people videoing the aftermath of accidents usually on the road instead of helping is mind boggling especially so when there are dead and dying victims. It just amazes me and disturbs me at the same time that we have so many people who seem to lack a moral compass and sense of empathy and compassion.

Has there really been much “baiting”? There are a few muppets, sure, but it seems to me that the vast majority of football fans have been pretty respectful and sympathetic towards Leicester. And the Munich analogy doesn’t really work, does it - no social media in those days. Plenty of (pretty unpleasant) “baiting” of Man U fans goes on in that respect these days, for sure.

I would tend to agree but looking at those BBC comments some have clearly got a bid fed up or think the coverage has gone OTT but that isn't the fault of Leicester of course.

They cannot control the media if they don't mention the others who died quite as much.

I mean just think of the reaction had they not done anything and just said "who cares - lets just get on with it"!

Like with the Pozzos their owner has done a lot more than just put some money in and not turn up to games which a lot do - there did seem to be a real connection between the family and the club.

Yes, but that’s entirely different from “baiting”. I don’t think it is disrespectful or nasty to complain that there may have been media overkill. The Diana analogy is a good one - it’s quite plausible to be both saddened by the event and to think that the response (of both media and public) was over the top.

Fair point - the test there would be what if this happened to a lesser known club/owner.

Would there be as much mainstream coverage?

Probably not but as I say that is just a way of life really - some deaths get more attention than others - maybe not fair but life isn't always as this tragic event shows.

It did surprise me a bit the BBC were almost tabloid like in their rush to get quotes from people who might have seen the accident even on the night and trying to report on who might have been on the helicopter.

It's an ideal media story because of what Leicester achieved a couple of years ago. "The end of the dream", and all that. If it was us, or Muff, or Brighton, say: no, I don't expect it would get the same coverage, although if the death had come about in the same manner there would obviously be interest in that.

I agree about some of the BBC's tabloid tendencies. The radio coverage has been better, imo.

With a football team to support, I don't think Filbert would have time to spend weekends in India for open caste coalmining

My brief research shows 3 working caste coal mines in England. Plus others in Wales & Scotland.

    But fair point.

The yogurt making explanation is the more likely.

I do wonder what the point of Dan Roan is.

    Lightweight & prurient.

He also is a serial user of that awful habit, the Kuenssberg Thumb. In perfect sync with saying ‘Here’, he thrusts his thumb in the direction of his right shoulder. Like a timid 70s disco manoeuvre.
