    Leicester innit, it’s a delicacy.

I do agree, I’m gutted about it, I prefer my football club to most members of my family. It’s a shame, it’s sad, it’s going to change a lot of lives because he was connected to a lot of people but it isn’t a time for national mourning or anything.

The football world will tweet their praying hand emojis and then in a week it’ll be back to calling referees ****s and feigning serious injuries.

I have to agree with MrLizard on this one. It of course is a very sad event considering all the family and King Power have done not just for the football club but city (and God forbid we would be the same should something ever happen to Gino for instance) but people are dying all the time in tragic accidents. Again it is media coverage determining the worth of individuals.

Those in the spotlight when they do a little charity work get lauded to the heavens ignoring the fact countless thousand do exactly the same thing with little fanfare every single day. Or more emphasis is placed on a pop star passing away while some of our very special veterans from the summer of 1940 pass unheralded into that good night unless you happen to read the obituary columns of one of the broadsheets. Everyone is unique and special and in an ideal world everyones passing should be mourned as those memories and knowledge will never be regained.

Well no. Because traffic incidents are sadly a daily occurance. People don’t often die at football matches. The incident is tragic and worth noting. I’m not quite sure why you feel it’s needed to question people’s way of reacting to what is obviously a sad event?

You don’t agree? Fine. But the subject matter should be enough for you to curb your sarcasm.

I've never really liked Leicester as a club, but I'm just gutted by this. Such a sad and tragic loss of life. I know a lot of Leicester people and I'm very sad for their community and football club. Rivalry takes a firm backseat when human life is lost.

Sounds like their chairman was a really generous man giving money to local charities. I imagine the grief Leicester fans are experiencing is similar to that we went through when GT passed away.

Thoughts with his family and also with those of the other 4 victims.

I agree. Their grief would be just as comparable. He's the guy that made all their wishes come true. The only difference is the aftermath. Losing such a very rich owner will affect everything, so not only on an emotional level, but financial level, it will be a huge loss for their club.

Whilst I agree, their wealth is with the family and the company. The wealth won’t disappear with his death. His son (vice-chairman) will assume the mantle. But from what I’ve read, it’s true that although the son has an interest in the football club, it was sadly his father’s project which he wished to pass on when the time was right. And that time was sadly not now.

Well, Sky Sports News presenters are in all black and in sombre mood this this morning. And Leicester fans on their forum have started comparing it to the Munich air disaster. I'd say it's panning out exactly as I would expect. God knows what level it'll have reached by the weekend.

  13. Filbert

Well if it gets on your **** just treat like a royal wedding and ignore it. And would you expect any less of SSN? Within half an hour of it crashing they were speculating on who was in it, plucking names from Twitter.

Yeah. 24 hour news channels fuel a lot of the cobblers around these types of events I think. Didn't the BBC have Puel on the chopper at one point?

You have to say, can anyone survive that? We’ll keep you posted at Sky Sports News!”

That live rewind button is handy: it allowed viewers to double-check that Rob Dorsett had indeed uttered that line. Alan Partridge might even have thought it a bit doltish.

And while we’re on the subject, what’s with saying ‘I’m a Liverpool fan but.....’

‘On behalf of all Man United fans.....’

Just say RIP if you want to comment.

Might add that to my stand up set.

There's basically a template for these things.

"On behalf of every [club] fan past, present and future, I wanted to say how [devastated or other similar word] we are for you. We all remember that game where we played you [insert details of a league or early round cup game around 5-10 years ago, to show you're a true fan] and [won/lost]. Your support was great that day and really stood out. Having just read [insert fact that every fan of the club already knows], I can see why he was held in such esteem. Good luck for the rest of the season - except against us."

Probably too early to be writing this but there's a thin line between showing your respects and over doing it. Some say it stems back to Lady Di's untimely passing and how we learnt to grieve as a nation. Social media has taken that a step further and i cringe a little when i see people reacting like they've lost a close personal friend. When i see that i can't help thinking that people are turning it into a "me" thing. Look at how caring i am!
I'm being cynical of course.. and there's nowt wrong with showing a caring side. It's just that, like a lot of things these days, people have to go overboard.

Right i'm off to change my FB profile pic to a crying fox.

Couldn't agree more. It seems some people like nothing more than the chance to publicly 'grieve' over the loss of someone they never knew. To me it's very odd and more than a little nauseating

It’s the social media game of how can I make this about me and get some sympathy, the same happens when someone’s gets ‘offended’.

Basically the football world is saying ‘u ok hun?’

I must say it took every bit of resolve I could muster not to immediately post something along the lines of ‘But who will sack Claude Puel now?’ just after the news broke on the forum I post on.....

It's like something out of Dream Team.

Bizarre and terrible. Leicester fans must be numb.

Other fans/ media reactions are OTT, but I think if it was Gino/ Elton I'd feel better if opposition fans lay scarves and if the media made a big deal out of it.

I'm sure someone on Twitter will Photoshop Puel onto an image with the helicopter, spanner in hand, by the end of the week.

There are owners out there who would cause wild celebrations were they to be involved in such an incident, (we've had more than one ourselves). Srivaddhanaprabha wasn't one of these, he was one of the very few owners who actually understood what the club meant to the fans. That's what we've got/had in common with Leicester, bl**dy decent owners. I can only imagine how we'd feel if it was the Pozzo family who died and not the Leicester owner. For me it would be shock at the event itself but more of a worry about the future of my club. It's a selfish viewpoint but an honest one.
