JP could play in a number of positions tbf, be it a #10 (maybe his best position?), on the wing in a 3-4-3, or perhaps as a more orthodox striker (maybe not his best role, but I don't think he'd be an abject failure at Championship level). Besides, JP isn't going to be available for every single game this season, as long as we have one of them to play that role, it's a good thing
JP might end up playing wider... Or JP and Davis behind Bayo... Let's face it, I have no idea what the plan is if we sign him. Let's hope someone at the club does.
I thought this. But Forest fans absolute loved him and rate him massively. Prepared to give the benefit of the doubt and allow those who have seen him more than me at this level to provide better judgment. (PS. Heard this is likely to be confirmed tomorrow or Saturday)
I don't actually think they are. Both play central or a bit wider, both carry the ball beyond defenders and can hold it up. I think they are surprisingly similar upon reading Forest fan's reviews of him - bit of height difference but that will actually benefit us in the way Edwards likes to play. Not saying there isn't a difference of ability - but this isn't as bad a move as I first believed. And if it also helps us keep Sarr this season financially - game on IMO.
Could be shooting myself in the foot here - but I've been told consistently Hause is NOT the defender we are pursuing. (Obviously could have changed if the one we wanted is now not happening)
Sure but I think both of them are too good to have them rotating with one another. I think a solvable problem but it’s not as clean a fit as I’d like (in the vein as, for example, signing Mario Gaspar who is a good player but maybe not the best fit for the role as we had assumed we would have it). Still, would be delighted with the signing (should it happen) and I can’t see many other good quality HG strikers likely to be available for loan/cheap
Would be really surprised if he played even so. More likely paraded before kick off and Bayo/Manaj starts. Depending on all these stories being kosher of course. (Or even more likely, it’s 3-5-2 and Choudhury comes straight in for Dennis)
Looks like a bit of a typical British lump striker with a very underwhelming goal record so far. Also at 24 is far older than I thought, thought he was a high potential youngster but that’s Archer. Turns out he’s Dennis age. However, big lumps can go on to have weird outlier seasons if used effectively so here’s to hoping he has a Darius Henderson type effect.
Fun fact: I watched the Forest playoff final on my second day back in the UK this summer in a random pub in Buckingham - and Keinan Davis godmother was watching in there. He's from Stevenage which could also be a factor in him being keen on a move.
His hold-up play and ability to get his team up the pitch is superb. Anybody who’s watched him regularly says so. Hopefully can add a few more goals but is a serious addition the the squad. Clearly, the elephant in the room is that we’ve already signed two forwards to do the things he does. It feels like the club do their signings and then, irrelevant of whether they clash, have allowed the HC one or two signings he wants as well. Then we all hope it comes out in the wash!
Think people are looking a bit too much at his goal record and not enough at what he can bring to the team. From what we've been told by Forest and Villa fans are he's big, strong, good in the air, quick and technically sound. He must be a nightmare to play against as he can come deep and get the ball, he can play on the shoulder or he can play in the channels. I'm just thinking of all the space he can vacate for other players to work in. Also, that aside, 1 in 3 at this level is a very good return!
Released from Stevenage academy by Darren Sarll, who went on to join us as Head of Academy, before he eventually left in 2019, amid accusations of bullying.
To be fair, if he can keep up the form from 15 games last season and it wasn't a random purple patch in an otherwise thoroughly underwhelming career, then he'll be an effective player for us. He certainly doesn't play the beautiful game but can see why he could be crudely effective in the Championship. I'm hoping it's a loan as can't imagine him playing regularly in the Premier League were we to get promoted, which is the assessment Forest seem to have made and Villa before them.
Not imminently, but at some point during the window it was inevitable. I’m sure there’ll be a WO interview about his attitude
True, most people from the Stevenage area can't sit still due to a common local ailment known as 'ants in the pants syndrome'. You can tell a sufferer as they're always Hitchin up their trousers.
Sounds like West Brom are trying to get in ahead of us. Bruce has publicly declared their interest and want for him. We know Gino doesn’t do bidding wars, so safe to say he’s off to West Brom. Our front 2 will be Bayo and Manaj.
Ive heard on twitter that some people I have never met, are saying that there are some other people on twitter who say this guy could be really good, although when pushed they said they werent sure because they d only heard it on twitter. I think thats enough to say this guy is the real deal. Welcome to Watford Keinan.
Bruce says WBA are interested as Grant got injured ad the back up is out again (not sure he has ever been fit!?) https://www.shropshirestar.com/spor...at-move-for-aston-villa-striker-keinan-davis/
My biggest concern is that usually anyone who says someone is good on this forum often turns out to be shyte. Worrying times ahead.
Deal agreed. Medical happening now. Signing should be announced later today, barring any unforeseen issues. WBA made a late push for him. Season loan with an option to buy. Still in talks with Kortney Hause, but this is not at an advanced stage. Source AL (The Athletic)
