But they’ve said all summer they won’t loan him out, he started their first game of the season, and Che Adams is being linked with a few teams. Armstrong won’t be leaving.
Christ on a bike, 24 year old striker with eleven goals in his whole career! On the positive side five of them were last season in just fifteen starts so maybe he's just a very late developer rather than someone that hit a short purple patch recently.
Was younger when we signed him than Davis is now but he had scored 36 goals in various leagues/competitions including a brace at the Bernabeu. Not sure this is the best comparison to make!
Tbf, even though Davis' record in the Prem was very poor (with sporadic minutes), who's to say he couldn't have done exactly what Dennis did in the illustrious leagues of...Belgium and Ukraine
I won't pretend to have seen loads of him, no, but what I have seen that's about my assessment. Just another striker in his mid 20's who really has done absolutely nothing to this point. His lack of play time/goals is actually quite incredible, really.
Don’t know loads about him so won’t pretend to say how great or how crap he is, however, from the little I have seen of him I think he will fit in well to how RE wants us to play. Looks like he can attack the ball well and be a threat from crosses/set pieces (if we can get the delivery right). 5 in 15 for Forest last season isn’t a bad return at all. Over a 46 game season he’d be projected around 15-16 goals which is more than any of our players got last time at this level!
The disappointing thing about this transfer is that he's coming in as a direct replacement for Dennis. Unfortunately he's always going to be considered a downgrade because of that. Seems like a standard Championship player who is injury prone. Can't really see the point in the signing really, but hopefully it will just be a loan so we're not actually committing to this player. I honestly don't see too much difference between him and Fletcher.
• on Twitter: "#NFFC fans — what are your overall thoughts on Keinan Davis? Could be about to join Watford. I only saw 5/6 90s and he was really impressive" / Twitter Thread from @LouOrns on Twitter, seems that to a man the Forest fans are raving about him, and to be quite honest every other EFL fan I've heard from has said similar
If it’s not gonna be reinvested in similar quality then I’d rather just use the Dennis money to pay off a big chunk of our debt Is Davis really any better than Bayo? We’re already stuck with the latter + Manaj anyway
Personally think if we got £20m+ for Dennis then replaced with Davis for £5m-ish it could potentially prove to be damn good business. Keep Davis fit and he gets 15 goals, would be worth £10m+, and has the potential to be PL level. Plus the obvious benefit of a HG 1st teamer allowing us to have another NHG in the squad.
I think I may have been talking total bollox regarding Davis. Just been speaking with a Forest mate and he was really complimentary about him. Biggest problem is keeping him fit. An upgrade on Fletcher, so I strike that comment of mine off the record books. If we keep Sarr, then a fit Davis should still be a strong forward line.
Have to agree. Half a season in the Championship doesn't equate to 15m or whatever stupid valuation Villa put on him.
Is that Owen O'Brien? Not seen him on Twitter before, but he does have 3.5k followers which is high for a fake account. Personally, I would prefer Clarke to Hause, but either would be an upgrade to what we currently have at LCB.
Davis is having a medical tomorrow apparently so sounds like done deal territory Assuming Dennis outgoing is confirmed tomorrow as well
Did suffer an injury at the end of last season - with our medical team he might get worried that will resurface!
Davis was outstanding last season at Forest. It might not show up in the goals column but his link-up play is genuinely outrageous. Probably the best striker in possession in the Championship last season. I am not one for highlights video but his strength and dribbling is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I do have two reservations. 1 is his fitness. If you look at most of the comments on Lou’s thread a lot of them have the caveat “if fit.” 2 is his style of play/role which I feel is a little too similar to JP. He was the best link-up striker in the league last season but I think we are more in need of an out and out goalscorer. Still here is a young, homegrown striker, who every other club in the league would have loved to sign. I follow a number of very smart Forest fans who think the world of this lad and who, notwithstanding the impending arrival of Dennis and the many expensive signings they’ve made this summer, are really disappointed to not have him in the side in the PL. RE will have to think hard about how to get the most out of JP and Davis, but he is a smart man and this is a great problem to have. If you’re desperate to call this a bad signing, despite the lad having the highest whoscored rating of all Forest players last year, and the sixth highest of all players to play 1000 mins, because you’re so desperate for everything Pozzo touches to be sh*t, give your head a wobble. This lads a cracking signing.
Forest fans and Villa fans unanimous that their one concern with him is ability to stay fit - he’ll probably spend the season keeping TDB company once our medical team get their hands on him
