We won’t sign a striker until Suarez situation is resolved and we offload one or two that we already have. I think that much is obvious.

We won’t be spending £5m on Toney, keeping Suarez and then finding out we can’t get rid of Deeney or Gray. The latter two will cost too much to not be kicking a ball in this league.

 

Brentford have supposedly had a £10mil accepted for him according to the ever reliable talk sport exclusive. Quoted £6.5mil up front, the rest add one.

Meanwhile the ever reliable Sky state this;

“Brentford are discussing a deal to sign Amiens striker Samman Ghoddos.

A deal is not close to being agreed but the Bees are exploring other targets as Ivan Toney wants to join a Premier League club.

Amiens also want £8m for youth striker Folarin Bolagun – a price too high for the Championship club.”

Got to love sports journalism, it’s literally the only job where you get paid a lot of money to make stuff up, be wrong 99.9%, and still have a job.

 

All the signs are pointing towards one of these stories maybe being true. Pretty sure Ivan was the guest of former Brentford legend Marcus Gayle at Starbucks.

 

Well this is wrong, for a start.

 

Rumoured online that he will need a lot of convincing as he wants to go to a PL club and is more than likely to turn Brentford, and other Championship clubs down. At least initially in the window. I expect he will jump at the chance if/when no PL club comes.

Could easily see a Leeds/Sheff Utd/WBA seeing him as a cheap gamble given they don’t have a striker with a decent goalscoring rate.

 

I don't know much about this guy but isn't it a touch arrogant to only want to play for a PL club, it's a bit of a jump and if he fails he'll be forgotten about in a couple of years time.

 

It was a blanket statement. I’m talking about those working for Talk Sport, Sky, BT sport, Major new outlets like The DM, TimesC Guardian etc. I’m sure they are paid a pretty penny to be wrong.

Che Adams scored 22 goals in one season in the Championship before moving to the PL, Toney is coming from League One.

 

Perhaps we should look to buy Adams instead ? Shame we can't buy both as we could have "Toney-Adams" upfront.

It seems that the £10m fee was agreed weeks ago. Not new news. Brentford having issues convincing the player as he wants to play in the prem.

It has been considering the season starts in 2 weeks. However it was to be expected. I think most teams are happy to deals if a good deal presents itself, if not, just wait. With the window going until 5th October then the 16th domestically, it’s not surprising that teams are waiting to see what happens.
