At last an intelligent response. Take a bow.

An intelligent response that amounts to him playing for another club well before us and a fee he had no control of. You have a low bar for an intelligent viewpoint it seems.

Wow you still chewing at that bone. I get it. You like the fella. I don't and never will.

Once again, you overestimate my sentiments towards Gray. It’s not that I ‘like’ him. I just think the depth of dislike you and some others show is completely disproportionate and based on very little to actually do with his Watford career.

And I’m not sure it’s me ‘chewing on the bone’ when you’ve alluded that people who don’t hold your option are not being intelligent!

Also, I get the criticism of him as a player. I have many of the same issues regarding him - but when people start going on about tweets from years ago and saying he has shown nothing whatsoever in his WFC career, that’s not true.

In a bizarre mistaken identity, we've signed the joke player, Ivan Topee

Well, the fact is 18m wasted on Gray has meant that 18m has not been spent on actually useful players to help our team.

If money was no object and we could double down on the money wasted on him, then I agree - it's not my money, but we've seen that we have still not signed a striker who is fit for purpose, so clearly, it has cost my team the ability to be effective so yeah - wasting 18m on that piece of **** pisses me off.

Which is a better explanation than some are giving. I still feel it’s a little unfair to use his fee against him but I accept we should have expected way more than we’ve got. Although I would temper that with a counter argument that I’m not at all certain that £18m would have gone on a smarter buy.

I agree - much better to use his terrible lack of ability, his history of being a homophobic ********, his status as an ex scummer with statements about being a lifelong L*t*n man, his idiotic breaking of rules to have a dumb party during a crisis period for the club and other such things against him.

    Saint-Maximin cost £16m.

But you are correct, I doubt our scouting team could have come up with anything better.

I believe Danny Ings cost 2m more. I know who I'd rather have upfront.

Agreed much better explanation than I. I just have a real disliking of the bloke.

To be fair if you put Ings into this Watford team he would more than likely be brought down to our rancid level and we'd talk about him like we talk about Gray.

"But a deal has yet to be agreed between the centre-forward and the London high flyers.
This suggests the door is still open for Toney’s many suitors, who include Bournemouth and West Brom as well as Rangers, Celtic and the New York Red Bulls."

As I said earlier in this thread, even if we were to make a move I doubt we'd do it until we knew which division we'll be in next season. It sounds from that article like nothing will be confirmed with Toney yet for a bit and they're still fishing for other bids.

Why would Brentford be buying Toney, unless they were selling Watkins to us. Please.

If they fail to go up they would be looking for about 20M for him. Benhahma about the same or more. We should have made an effort to secure them last season when the price would have been about half of what they are looking for.

He will have suitors bigger than us and I doubt he would move to us if they failed to go up and we were interested - but Benrahma is an immense talent who has everything you need to go to the top. If anyone can get him for £25m or less, I think they’d be certain to double their money at least in a year or 2. Really do think he can follow a similar success pattern as Mahrez has.

They will indeed. We missed the boat again. Or more precisely fatty bumpkin. Terrific head of recruitment when he isn't poking his big nose into the managers job. Ditto for Eric Roy. Top man.

If we wanted any of these forwards, we would get them.
We clearly don't need them as we already have TD, Gray, Success and Welbeck. It's difficult enough trying to squeeze all that talent into the starting 11.
