At least we know what he will look like alongside Deeney.
I knew there was something I wanted to watch last night.
Having his medical as we speak. SSN.
What part are they at?
Further update. It's a 4.5 year deal and will be €8m, so not the £15m The Athletic reported. About £6m, which seems a more realistic fee.
It was just showing repeats of Only Fools and Horses dubbed into Italian when I last looked.
Extra low fee - no doubt clever tax planning to save lots of tax.
It's a bit of a strange signing in terms of need at this moment in time.
We seem to be stockpiling players who can play across the front line.
For the right side, we have Sarr, Gerri, Pussetto even Gray can play there at a push and did so for Burnley. In the middle we have Deeney, Welbeck, Pedro, Success and Gray and on the left we have Gerri, Welbeck, Pereyra, Pedro, Success. We have Sema and Penaranda out on loan, but on our books. Also we have those players in the pipeline coming through such as Cucho and Suarez.
But, it seems like he's a cheap signing, a player of quality and someone the owner doesn't want to leave the group. He's not having fun at Udinese so a switch may be of benefit to the player.
I think it's in in anticipation of selling Gray, Success and Pereyra, while Welbeck will never kick a ball again. Seems fair to me.
It will be interesting to see which Belgian club he will be loaned out to
All of them, in the fullness of time.
I wouldn’t put it past Watford to try and convert him into a FB.
Rectal exam completed.
I recon he's going to be ace, a fans favorite by the middle of next season. Time to set up the official Pussetto supports club. Worthy of an avatar change as well.
Realistically though, in preferred positions:
Right side - Sarr, Pussetto
Left Side: Geri, Pereyra
Striker: Deeney, Welbeck, Gray
Pedro is very young still and I'm not sure how much he's going to be playing this season.
Success looks to be off. We can't rely on Welbeck. Cucho - yes, I think there's a chance he's with us next year, but I don't think the same is true of Suarez who will likely be loaned again. Cucho will probably replace Gray. Penaranda is never going to play for us. Sema is probably at Udinese for good.
I'd say Pussetto is a necessary signing as if Sarr or Geri picked up an injury we're short.
Ok but as long as the first time he pussettover the bar we can all boo.
A no frills replacement for Success.
Of course, I'm not saying it's a bad signing or will not be useful to us, but I didn't see it as the main priority for this window. We can easily get by without an addition in this position at this stage of the season. I just thought it a little strange, when the defensive area was the one that needs strengthening, especially centrally, it's a winger we bring in.
Having said that, I will contradict myself a little by saying he's a cheap option, still retained within the Pozzo empire and can be useful. So I do get it and if we manage to sign one or two defensive reinforcements then it would have been a good window. Trouble is, there is very little chatter on CB's, only a couple of links to the left back positions, which again is not one we really need strengthening at this stage, with Kiko playing so well, Masina looking the part and Holebas back to fitness.
our only recognised wingers are Deulofeu, Sarr and Pereyra at a push. With all this noise of Pereyra wanting out we are pretty short on wingers.
if Sarr or Geri were to be injured we would be in desperate need of a winger as none of our other attacking players (Success, Gray etc) are good enough to start for us regularly.
Don't know anything about this guy but seems a pretty low risk signing and gives us another option.
Looks to be handy at dead ball situations and has some sprint/pace. Could be useful competition for Sarr bit can also play on the left and up top.
I have no bias when it comes to booing players, whether it's Gray missing a sitter or Delefou taking on 6 players then losing the ball, they all get the same treatment.
If he can take a decent corner, he’ll be our best signing since Abdi.
Shows how far we’ve come that we’re now signing an Argentinian attacking midfielder/striker in his early 20s who can’t get a game for Udinese
Would have been unthinkable 7 years ago in the 2012/13 season
Should have just kept Fessi and saved ourselves all this fuss.
Which one is he?
Guy on the right
OK so must be Ignacio on the left then ?
Don’t know if he’s any good but it is a position we need cover for. Of course we all want upgrades at centre back and full back, and I hope they’re still working on that, but this isn’t as random as some are making it out to be.
Defense has quantity over quality, while attack has quality not quantity. You need both. Pereyra and Success are our current alternatives on the wings and neither suit Pearson’s system which relies so heavily on the wide players to create and score but also to press from the front and help out going backwards.
I’ve read Pussetto has a good engine so maybe more of a like-for-like replacement should either of them get injured.
Joao Pedro on the right. Here he is, stuck in the middle with Gray.
It's now official....he's signed
With tonight’s game being suspended, he’s got the FA cup replay against Tranmere upcoming to make his debut in.
Can new signings play in replays? Not sure it's allowed.
Correct - they have to have been eligible for the original game
