[REPORTED] Grosicki

I know not everyone rates him. I really like Amrabat and would rather have him on the pitch than Grosicki. We need wingers who are willing to work the line and get back when needed. Amrabat never stops. He's got a really admirable work rate. Grosicki, like most wingers, have this lazy sort of "I only work in the final third of the pitch" kind of attitude.

Like, I would play Amrabat in games against harder opponents where we need to be more defensive and a player like Grosicki/Berghuis against a team like Brighton. The way we seem to be playing is a really fluid formation where everyone needs to do their part. Which is why I don't think Capoue will stay in the team. Obviously Marco Silva disagrees with me and Grosicki will likely prove me wrong, but he just seems like a final third kinda player from the games Ive seen him in.

 

I've not really seen the Grockle play so I can't comment on him. I've commented on Batt on his thread so I'll keep him their. I just hope that under a new coach with new ideas that the whole teams confidence grows after it was sapped away last season and we see some good football.

 

The hilarious thing is I doubt most people have seen this fella play apart from a few minutes on match of the day.

He'll be an incalculably large upgrade from Amrabat - by which I mean that with him on the pitch we might go from 0 goals per season from the right flank to 1...

still not good enough. I'll be very disappointed if this continues to be the standard of player we bring in and does nothing to allay my impression that we're basically preparing a squad for 2018/19 back in the Champ.

 

Doucoure has now commented on the IG post. Old teammates in France too. I'd say this is looking increasingly nailed on. Not swayed one way or the other with this guy - £9m does seem steep though. Hoping it no more than 2/3rds of that max.

 

No point getting a great winger who can cross if there is no one in centre to put it in net.

Definitely a good piece of business. Has a lot a pace, a decent end product, plus offers competition for Success on the left side.

We need two wingers too. As most crosses are overhit we need another winger on the far side to collect the ball and ping it back over. After about 5 attempts by each winger one might fall into the centre by which time Deeney or Okaka will have caught up with play and bingo! 1-0!

Tell me that style of football won't please the crowd!

Gino is finding it very difficult signing quality this summer primarily because of our 17th placed finish last season.

Grosicki is being signed because none of the decent singers want to come to a team that are seen to be relegation candidates .

£9million for a 29 year old for a club like Waford doesn't seem like good business. I would rather pay double the wages and get Ghezzal in on a free. If Ghezzal has a half decent season in the PL he would at least double that value. There's been some rumours about his attitude, but if he delivers the goods then i'll be happy. Ghezzal could be at the club for 3 years and we would make a hefty profit on him. Grosicki could be at the club for 3 years and we let him run his contract out or release him because we'll sign someone better... like Ghezzal.

 

Mirror saying again that Everton will bid 7.7 million pounds for Grosecki. Don't think Gino will enter a bidding war as Newcastle and WBA also hanging around. By their accounts Koeman really rates him and Grosecki only interested in staying in EPL. Hope we now get my preferred choice Ghezzal or Carrillo - or even better both! With Deeney injured need to get s striker in before we are chasing 4th rate targets. COYHS

 

Obviously in the minority (as ever) but I would like Grosicki to join us has pace , can cross and 9m in today's totally stupid market isn't bad business if it helps keep us in the prem , main concern is when these crosses are knocked into the box there is no one there to score !
I also would like us to land Gibbs if we could persuade these players in it might help us to land a striker ,Finishing 17th has really hurt us as a lot of foreign players see us as relegation fodder and dont want to join, it's making Ginos sales pitch a damn sight harder.

 

Surest sign Berghuis is off to Feyenoord. Too bad as i want Amrabat to leave.

 

I think we will keep Berghuis, from the pre season pictures and videos he looks really happy.

I think Grosicki would be competition for Success on the LW.

Having Success, Berghuis, Grosicki and Amrabat fighting it out for the wing is pretty good. Plus Femenia can play RW as that was he's natural position before playing RB for the first time last season.

Grosicki's stats from Hull

 

Those stats are wrong, they are for the whole season ie when he played in France.

He actually got 3 assists for Hull and no goals. Transfermarkt has him down for 5 but its actually 3 according to the Hull website.

 

You're right, I didn't realise. I clicked on performance data for Hull and that is what came up so I assumed they were only related to Hull.

Either way point is still correct in that he will be bought in the play on the LW not the RW

 

Having four kinds of average doesn't hide from the fact that they're all kinds of average.

You keep saying we're signing average players. Who do you think would be an upgrade AND a realistic signing for striker, winger, left back?

 

Check out the Amrabat off thread, sorted, save a few pennies and keep the one we've got.

 

He is much better than Amrabat as an attacking winger, even if he doesn't maybe have quite the work rate. I'd rather have a winger who can actually attack (which is the primary objective in a 4-2-3-1) than one who can't attack but runs around like a headless chicken.

 

Yes BUT... we play a 4231 WITH the ball and a 4141 without the ball. A winger who doesn't track back will be leaving our full-backs exposed.
