Maybe not his own players (bar one or two-Jurado, Carrillo), but at least recommendations of the type of players who may fit his system.
Ok. I should have phrased that better. If/when we fix the glaring weaknesses in the squad (striker, left-back and center-back). He will have some input.
I applaud your political correctness for gender equality but can you name a female coach whose CV could get them an interview?
Tough call. The results haven't been great with just the 3 wins at home, one against 10 men, and 2 tight 1-0's that could have gone either way. The away form is just dreadful, no plan, no goals and just one point. Results say he's not good enough. However the players he has at his disposal just aren't good enough for anything other than a struggle. How got MS got the results and performances from them +Chalobah and TC is looking better and better. Perhaps he was a really great manager ? Is he still available ?
I 'm not sure Gracia has got the best out of his situation, regardless of players he has available. Some of the defending during his watch has been dreadful. However, give him Chalobah, Cleverley and Deulofeu then we'd probably be getting much better results, which would make him look a lot better too. I can only go on what I've seen from the team since he's been in charge. I've liked the look of the side at home. We've been up for every game and have competed well. Away from home is a completely different story, where we don't have any energy and are mentally beaten far too easily. So, it's a tough call. Right now, I think he's more out than in, but I wouldn't be pulling out my hair if he stayed. It was obvious to me that Silva, Mazzarri and QSF had to go by the time they did, this time seems a little different. There is still an element of plausibility in his credentials. His win rate percentage is not too good though. QSF had 36.36, Mazzarri had 29.27, Silva had 30.8 and Gracia is currently at 25.00.
I can't work out why a Head Coach 'getting his team up for every (home) game' should be seen as such an amazing feat? Isn't that a basic requirement?
If you take the Burnley game as an example, this theory falls down quite a bit though. We dominated possession in that game and Burnley hardly managed to fashion a single attack until they got their goals in the second half. Our defenders were under no pressure in the slightest from either our forwards or the opposition, they just collapsed at the first aimless ball in their direction. I dare say when we are playing a team that is putting us under a lot more pressure then having forwards who can’t make the ball stick to them doesn’t help our defence, but they have shown themselves to be just as crap when this isn’t an issue for them.
Yes.....it's one of the most fundamental requirements, as well as tactics. He's getting the team up for games at home, but that doesn't appear to be the case away. Much was lauded over Silva's Watford, certainly in the early days, but he never got Watford playing well at home. We always looked so flat. We look better now under Gracia in terms of being up for it.
It should be, as it should have been at this stage of the past 2 seasons. Difference being this coach seems to have the players on-side. Judging by the Palace game anyway.
Well apart from the Gomes situation a month or so back we haven't heard anyone really complain about Gracia compared to the other managers where somebody would be falling out with them! Another manager will have his own ideas and "favourites" of course which might unsettle the squad - is that just part of football though?
I can only go by what I saw on saturday. Don't get to away games unfortunately. For those that do, does the team play like they give a **** away from home?
Thing is, our players are currently performing at the level of one of the very worst sides in the League. They aren't great but are they really that bad? Is this a late season dropping off of intensity or is it the way they are being set up? If the latter then next season looks Grim if Javi is still here. You don't go to away games, but you surely can look at the results?
Have the players not put effort into away games? The results have been poor admittedly, but that wasn't my point. From what I've heard we were unlucky to lose at Huddersfield, the Arsenal match was never a 3-0 game, Liverpool can batter anyone on their day.
We are very fortunate indeed then to have a Head Coach who can get his team up for every home match. That’s cheered me up a little. I had been feeling a bit down that we hadn’t won any of the last three, or any of our away matches since he came. But if he’s got the team up for a match, that’s some consolation.
If he isn't wanting to, he must be ******* blind. Frankly, there's a difference between scenarios involving 'want', and a choice, and 'need'. We need to strenghen there. Nothing suggests that we can 'get them playing again', to be honest, and there's plenty of evidence to the contrary, particularly with Deeney. Listening to Adrian Durham on Talksport this afternoon (bear with me...) I was further struck by a point he made. When asked if the three who are in the relegation spots are the three that will go down, he said yes, he believed they would; that Stoke have put in a bit more fight recently, but they need a striker, and they don't have a striker, so yes, they will still go down. That gave me a moment of particular crystallisation in my mind's eye. A few days ago I posted on here in response to someone else's point that I reckoned we had the worst strikeforce in the league, joint with Stoke and Newcastle. Stoke are providing a perfect blueprint for what could happen to us next season if we don't sort out our most glaring issue in some way; a season of mostly meek surrender after 10 years of straight Prem existence, thanks to a total lack of a striker/goal threat. We can't continue to rely on midfielders popping up with all our goals, particularly if the one that scores the most is no longer here. As it stands, leaving the status quo would be rather akin to going into the season expecting Berahino and Choupo-Moting to score the goals to keep us up.
Says you conveniently ignoring the fact our three previous Head Coaches can boost home wins against the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester (when they were the current champions) and Man United!
I was just trying to engage in debate. Your inference was Gracia has got the team up for home matches whereas none/few of his predecessors were able to do this. I was merely pointing out that we’ve had a few good home showings too under our last three Head Coaches. And I’m Malteser. No need to deify me!
Some absolute classics on here after Jokanovic's 12th game in charge: http://wfcforums.com/index.php?thre...lverhampton-wanderers-26-12-2014.46833/page-2
Ighalo came on and hit the bar - rest is history . I remember that game - it was really wet and we were really rubbish. On Sky too!
With the best will in the world, I’m not sure you’re the best person to point out that someone is hammering home a point.
Genuinely thought I was going to find myself in there calling for Slav's head, but I didn't. I loved him from the very start. Some nice memories though, Deeney getting slagged off. Hornet23, before her ITK days, when she was still young and innocent and didn't hate Vydra for not calling her. 'I think most of the points we have picked up since he joined here have been fortunate', said a poster back then. Betcha can't guess who posted that all so familiar comment.
What’s crawled up your arse mate? You used to be one of the most enjoyable to read posters on here, now every sarcastic negative post makes me cringe?
Being talked about on Twitter - no idea regarding their level of "ITK", and no mention of a petrol station. But when looking at how things have panned out over the last 3 years regarding the durations of our head coaches, it sounds plausible:
