You've fallen into the well known 'Erasmus' trap!
Silly old Erasmus jars and boxes were all the same to him.
    Call yourself Henry VIII's tutor?!

I actually hope we manage to sell him tomorrow, as long as we spend a little money we get.

Waste of money paying his wages over the next couple of months until he is fit and even when he is fit I can't see him playing much.

Hopefully if we sell him on a permanent deal tomorrow we can reinvest in some half decent players in the next week or so but I won't hold me breath.

It's exciting to think what he might do to the Championship having got so close to the end of the international window, but I suppose I agree with this. Think he's on £60k a week, maybe more, he's not available until the end of the month at least, and there's no guarantee we'd get to see the same player who lit it up for us in the past. If we can get him motivated, keep Capoue by all means, but Geri is a different case, and he's not as necessary to the team these days neither I don't think

I think he's months away. That injury, especially, for a player whose game is predicated on agility, acceleration and touch usually doesn't heal in 6 months. A year is more common. We'll be lucky to see anything like the old GD before December.

We've got eight games between the 2nd & 29th of December and another five games between the 2nd & 30th of January 2021. So even if he aint available until December, we could still get at least a good EIGHT games out of him before the window re-opens and possibly a few more before he moves on, that is if he moves on at all of course?

And if he is anything like Chalobah will mentally still be suffering a year or two later!

Why so negative, why should he be like Chalobah? But if he is like Chalobah has been mentally he can probably say goodbye to his move away from WFC anyway and we will be stuck with him.

Therefore lets all hope that he comes back fully recovered sooner rather than later, and that we will hopefully get the benefit of a player who is at the top of his game for at least a month and hopefully longer.

You never know he might even change his mind and want to stay.

I’m looking forward to him leaving this evening just so I can stop reading posts from people about how sure they are he’ll stay and believed all along we would play for us in the Championship.

Linked to Fiorentina again this morning in Tuttosport. If they flog Chiesa to Juve.

Chiesa to Juve is as good as done according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter - and he very rarely gets things wrong. Think we may have to prepare that Deulofeu won't be a Watford player much longer...

He hasn't been a Watford player for months, he's been an injured, wantaway non player, draining our wages pot.

I'm loving the amount of incoming transfer booty. Thank you Gino! Was it only 10 years ago we were selling our players for a couple of million at best! Nowadays we are selling players that haven't played a competitive game for us for more than that for an option on 50% of their ownership rights! Great days to be alive!

If we get some money up front and wages off the books, that's fine.

What's a decent final price in this market? £20m?

  17. Burnsy

    Burnsy First Team

Yeah I’d say that’s about right. Although I think it will be a loan personally.

Also, I have had a lingering suspicion (based on nothing admittedly) that he’s one that will go stupidly cheap for some reason. Like £7m or something silly.

  18. Supertommymooney

    Supertommymooney Squad Player

I've said multiple times I don't think he's fit enough to be sold this window.

However far less risk for the buying club around some loan structure or other.

Got to be something in it for us though.

    If it's £7m all in I'll cry.

  19. Burnsy

    Burnsy First Team

I suspect what’s ‘in it’ for us is his wages off the books (highest at the club depending on if you believe those websites) and another player out the door who doesn’t really want to be here anymore.

  20. Supertommymooney

    Supertommymooney Squad Player

That's fine unless there's a loan with no obligation to buy and he gets further crocked while with the new club...

#WatfordFC transfer latest Deulofeu: with Federico Chiesa to Juventus advancing. work now being done on Deulofeu to Fiorentina. Spanish winger is one of the options as replacement, one to watch before deadline.

Medicals ongoing for Federico Chiesa with Juventus, here we go confirmed! Loan + obligation to buy [€50m].

Medicals also for Douglas Costa with Bayern.

Fiorentina will replace Chiesa with José Callejon, done deal. Deulofeu from Watford NOT happening.

At least one of them will be right.

Excellent news. Lowers our wage bill, doesn't impact the team (as he hasn't played this season) and he can easily come back when we get promoted.

  29. Heidar

I think we might get away with it simply because he's not ready to play immediately.

That said, having seen his rehab videos, he looks in miles better shape than the rest of our squad.

Edit - just seen the above. **** sake.

Still, keeps him in the group. Might get him back if we go up.

Pereyra, Geri and Pussetto - that is over £40m of players of on loan / "undisclosed fees" to Udinese.

Bare faced asset stripping, but people on here will talk about how it is outstanding business.

#WatfordFC transfer update Deulofeu: after complications in getting deal done with Fiorentina plus Callejon alternative - Udinese move is now on agenda and looking most likely for Spanish winger. Makes sense with ACL recovery details being known.

  35. GoingDown

    GoingDown "The Stability"

Spot on from Adam. It makes perfect sense. It's unlikely you can recover from an ACL in England so therefore the best place to go is Italy. An absolute masterstroke.
