I think our best hope is probably, come January transfer window, IF!! we are top and looking strong promotion candidates, then he may feel it's worth hanging on for the second half of the season.

Interesting that someone employed by the club has said that! Hardly a ringing endorsement of Gracia either.

And maybe Capoue isn't as close to an exit as we thought.

 

It'll be interesting to see what the clubs stance is if Capoue and Deulofeu can't get a move away before the window closes.

I believe the article is slightly misleading - the guy they have quoted used to be Valencia's sporting director. He isn't currently employed by the club.

I still think the best option for everyone involved regarding Delufeou is to play him until January no doubt he will run riot in The Championship which of course will benefit us on the pitch but it will also more than likely push his price tag up, I am sure he will receive plenty of interest if he stays fit. I don't see why we need to rush into selling him.

 

I guess we'll get 4 or 5 semi-fit games out of him before his sale on 1st Jan whilst paying 3 months wages ?

 

It depends whether the price tag that we can get for him in January outweighs what we could get for a player coming back from a long injury. I think we may struggle to get much more than 15 million for him under his current circumstances however come January we may be able to add 10 million to that.

 

Or we could have built up a good lead in the league and he could be confident about staying and playing PL football in 12 months?

Or! The most likely situation - there will be no football being played in a couple of months time.

I think GD should stay put. He could be a great impact sub for us this year

 

I wonder if they're still here come 1st January whether the players and the club will take a different stance if we're top of the league and on track for promotion. I think under Vlad (if he's still here, never say never with us) it'll be down to the players mentality and attitude whether they play or not.

 

I have been saying this for some time that he is unlikely to go until January at the earliest, however if we should be looking good for promotion by then he might even stay on until the end of the season at least.

 

I don't think Subirats is still a director at Valencia so wouldn't put too much stock into those comments. I think he was sporting director or whatever in the early 2000s.

Based on how he destroyed Cardiff and Huddersfield when they were in the Prem it would be incredible to see. Promotion would be assured. Not gonna let myself get carried away with the idea he might actually stay though.

 

Realistically who is going to pay his wages while he recovers, when they can leave him here, let us pay and rehabilitate him and then buy him in January

Report from Spain this morning linking him with Fiorentina (should they sell Chiesa to Juventus) and Napoli. Loan to buy but seems that neither is particularly advanced. In general, I don't think there generally much to foreign reports of a transfer of a player that's not leaving/coming to a club in that country (apart from press in less prominent footballing countries like Nigeria which follows its players playing abroad with interest). Looks like Deulofeu's agent is still trying hard to secure his move.

I think its still relatively likely he leaves in the next week to a top half side in Spain or Italy on loan with an option/obligation based on games played to buy for 20m or so but I can also see some bottom half premier league sides come in for him during the domestic window if he is still around. Would love to see him stay, though. Imagine a Deulofeu - Pedro - Sarr front three in the championship coupled with the defensive solidity of an Ivic-built side.

 

that front three would horrify any championship defense. dont see it happening though! one of sarr or geri, if not both will leave unfortunately if the money is right.

 

how close to fitness is he anyway?

 

last i heard was looking at a potential return in november. if he stays could be available for a busy seasonal period for us.
