The sailing medal race was so exciting. Well done Ben Ainslie.

What a competitor. He's amazing. Shame about the other sailers in the (was it Star Class?)

Came in 7th, when 4th or higher would have ensured gold. Instead they gave it to Sweden. I guess it's worth it to make Prentice happy.

It was 6th or higher I think.

I watched the Ainslie race and will admit I didn't really get it. Why was he mucking around at the back when he could have bolted from the field like the French chap and won gold in a much easier way? The commentator seemed to suggest it was to do with shadowing the Danish guy - his main rival for the medal - but then out of no where the Dutch one nearly nicked it because he was suddenly too far back. Odd.

That's what Ainslie does. He goes into the race knowing who he has to beat and he beats them. It's not about trying to win the race, as he might risk being pipped by his rival and getting Silver.

He'd be an absolute **** to race against.

It was great to see a local lad (for me at least), win a Gold last night! Not because he lives less than a mile from me or because he went to the same school as my old man... No no, it's because we get a Gold Post Box. Get in! Thanks Greggy!

Fair play to Murray, as much as I can't stand him it sounds like he played excellently and thoroughly deserved the gold. Disappointed in Federer though, from what I've read/heard he pretty much didn't turn up and was an absolute shadow of the player he usually is today, and that's his chance of ever getting his single's gold gone now. Still indisputably the greatest player of all time though and a record 17 slams, a record amount of time at world #1, and an Olympics doubles gold and singles silver isn't too bad!

Bronze for Beth Tweddle on the bars - nice way for her to bow out of international competition.

    Gold in the team show-jumping.

I think what Murray did was unique. How many other high earning British sports people put aside their £££ earning potential for 10 days for the glory of their nation and then actually deliver? He won it for the glory of the country and the spirit of the Olympics. I wish England had 10-12 Andy Murray's playing football, rather than the sorry shower who seem to forget how to play football when there's no club money involved.

People in this country should finally give Andy the credit he deserves and fair play to you Nath for being one of the first.

I was there today. Glad I finally got in on the Olympic action, albeit at a free event where I couldn't see the finish line.

Hoy just got Gold. First time I've been able to properly watch the events on the telly.

I did the same. Watched the first 4 laps of the cycling, and then went into the big screen arena.

I was about 200m down from teh corner of the Serpentine, where people who got there really early had a chance to see the swim, run and cycle at the point where they cross over.

We'll get very few medals now and there's not many more golds either. Nick Skelton came close in the show jumping. I don't think we'll get any medals today but you never know, I guess. We've made a few finals today though. Medals in boxing and sailing to be added when official. Boxing, sailing, modern pentathlon, dressage and Mo Farah are where our golds could come from.

It was something like 75 percent of all races in which Brits were involved that you won. That is very impressive.

I am just happy Denmark managed to win one gold from cycling.

Oh and Denmark are better than you in medals per capita so there ;)

All kidding aside - I am very impressed with the performances of the GB team. You are not that far off US and China which is an amazing achievement.

It seems many brits were sceptical about the games but have been won over following the performances of your athletes. A quadrillion pounds well spent eh ;)

You wouldn't know we'd won any medals, living over here. As far as I can tell, there is only one nation competing and the rest of the world just put up cannon fodder with a national flag stamped on their chest.
