I suggest the quick reply box be just that ... a one line affair where hitting enter = post
I hate always having to grab the mouse.

Is it me or have the points earned for a post reduced from 5 points to 1 point?

SM#16 is going through his scrooge phase at the moment. I lost points the other day and I hadn't even logged in.

I've got a feeling he's :bass: and has them in a safe somewhere.

I'm finding the award: discussion ender being constantly given when posting and revoked when someone posts after a minor if frequent annoyance.

It's hard to tell if someone likes (or dislikes; boo!) my posts!

I notice that lurkers regularly outnumber members by about 3:1. I'd have thought more paid up members means more valuable sponsorship and would also bring a broader cross section of contributing opinions so it seems a wasted opportunity not to encourage them to become members. Can we entice them in by having a members only section?

Why is the forum time never right? Just something small that bugs me!

It's a setting personal to the user Forza, click settings and on the left hand side go to General Settings, "Date & Time Zone Options" is the second to last category.

    Merging threads

Does every thread have to be merged into another? It messes with the 'view latest post' feature. Pretty annoying.

Seriously, what's the deal? Front page looks a mess.

Expiring merges and redirects are there for two reasons.

1 to move peopel to the thread thread in the correct area.
2 to remind people to check there isn't already a thread on that subject before posting a new one and also to actually post new threads in the right section.

If the redirects weren't there you orrible lot won't learn.

Saying that, not guilty for the current batch.:]]

It has gone just a wee bit excessive recently in my opinion. A couple of the long-ish threads became impossible to follow because of it. Can't we assume that if a thread has got over say 40 replies it's pretty well established in it's own right? Some thread titles can seem similar but sometimes there's good reasons to have two similar threads running at the same time. Unless you read through every post it's sometimes not possible to work out how. If it needs merging do it later when it's dropped down the page and is inactive.

It's fair enough though for the live and breaking news stuff where we get 4 "We've signed XXXXX" type threads within 5 minutes of one another but merging the rest halfway through kills threads.

No but I can move your post away from an excellent thread.

Yeah, about that...do you think you might just have a bit of an over-obsession where Bas is concerned? Just asking like....

I merged several threads. But it is logical.

Several threads have the same general gist and it would be better if they were condensed.

Ditto for players and chants popping up, pubs/tickets for a match. When the redirects expire it will look a lot cleaner. The search function is also a friend if used.

I understand what you are trying to do, and quite often merging threads is justified; but I for one only start another thread on a similar subject if I think a point needs to be emphasised or a thread takes a different twist and that the point I am making would likely be lost if left as part of the original thread.

In other words sometimes a new thread is justified, even if there is a similar subject already being discussed on a an existing thread, because the new thread essentially has a different emphasis on the theme of the original thread.

Fair enough TVOR. In future I shall allow more grace. ;) To develop more points as you wish but ultimately if the subject discussion is pretty similar in time it will be condensed. :) I do try and make a reasoned judgement when I do merge threads as to the content and how they relate.

Smudger me ol mucker.... I love you like a brother you know that right? But, merging threads HOWEVER FRIKKEN LOGICAL IS ANNOYING OK.

I had to read THREE pages of posts I had already read to find ONE ***ken solitary post at the end that had been merged that I hadn't read. Seriously bruv....does the moon stop revolving around earth if there are two vaguely similar threads occurring simultaneously at the same time? It should tell you something that the only person who has in any way supported, congratulated, explained away or condoned what you are doing is HM.

Oh and don't patronisingly tell me Search is my Friend. It is not. Search here is as great as a colander for a condom...besides why would I spend hours searching for something I don't even know exists yet...ie New Posts?

Didn't know you were a moderator Smudger. How about working out who the repeat offenders are and having a chat with them (ie. acting as a moderator) rather than just merging a load of threads and moving on? I've not seen many people clamouring for threads to be merged recently yet the way it has been happening you'd think it was the biggest issue going.

Acting as a moderator..... that would be awesome here. But if you don't like it you can leave I guess.

When several new threads are made when something happens, such as a new signing, merging them is completely understandable.

Doing it for semi-related threads, like merging all threads talking about our promotion hopes, just makes threads a ball ache to read because the 'New Post' button doesn't work and once a page gets over about 8 pages I tend to lose interest anyway.

There seems to be too many posts where people say "Sorry disliked by mistake". Could it be possible to add in an "are you sure you dislike this?" message?

Are we able to get alerts/notifications on when we have been quoted?

We get them on likes. (Not sure if we do on dislikes. If we do than I may have loads that I don't know about:confused:).

But it would be good to know when you've been quoted in case you miss someone directly conversing with you, especially when you come back to a thread and there are a hundred new replies that I probably scan through more than read in depth if I'm busy.

Probably more useful than like notifications.

You can get instant email notifications on updates to threads you;ve subscribed to. That's about as good as it gets I'm afraid. It's also fecking annoying. check your user settings to change notifications.

Just a suggestion Meister prompted by ZZ thread on feeling old. How about a poll on the age of board users. Might be quite insightful to have some idea what the concentration of users is age wise.
