[CLOSED] Forum Suggestions

I have a suggestion, we have a number of threads regarding the first team squad that keep being added to throughout the season. Is there a way we can sticky them within their own forum, like "Players Lounge" or something. Just would be easier to find and keep tabs on conversations regarding them.. Only first team..

 

Are you suggesting a thread per player?
If so I'm not so sure. Some players are under the radar and won't get much said and a lot of conversation is about multiple players. Would it work?

More than anything we're trying to get the numbers of sections and subsections small as navigation becomes a pain, especially on mobile devices. People hav ea hard enough time posting in the right section as it is.:mahon:

Unfortunately not for the near future, the poll is a clunky heavy mechanism, and if introduced into the default mobile skin would slow it down a fair bit.

It's something I can keep an eye on though

 

The quoting systems become a bit ****ed.

 

In what way? works fine for me on various platforms.

If you're multiple quoting you sometimes need to wait for the advert at the bottom of the page to load, some can be a little slow depending on source/network etc.

If you're still having issues we can look at it for you.

 

I've noticed a few people recently trying to quote within a quote, but must be buggering it up where they're trying to delete something.

A related question - can we keep the match threads in the main forum until the next match has been played? It's often moved a day or two after the game, and all discussion is lost in several threads rather than the one main thread.

 

Smudger is a mod in that section of the forum, if you go to near the bottom of the page (just below where the threads finish) it'll say his name.

How about a forum sweepstake for the world cup, and some of the old competitions the forum used to do such as last man standing. Also I'm up for putting on a vbookie event for every world cup game and things. Just an idea.

 

Happy for someone to run a game, and a World Cup sweepstake is a great idea.

 

I found out my exams end on May 20th, so I can run vbookie events on all the friendlies and world cup games.

How hard would it be to run a sweepstake? Wouldn't we need some sort of prize? Maybe orns or user titles or something.

 

Depends really, do you want to run a competition where people chuck a quid or two into the pot, or one that's free and we can offer up forum prizes (orns, user title, amazon voucher) for the winner

 

I don't mind. You could set up a forum paypal and get people to pay into it. I'd be happy to donate £10 towards an amazon voucher if it's going to be free. I really don't mind.

The same applies for a thread where forum members can update others of transfers/loans within our division and maybe used as a guide to who is putting together a better squad etc?

The problem with this new system of having to put (suggestion) (reported) etc. when posting under the Transfer & Rumours section is that it often remains even when the circumstances have moved on.

Might I suggest that the Mods should update the thread title when appropriate, as it is very annoying to discover that things had moved on because the bit in (....) had not been changed, hence you had been ignoring the thread.

 

It's changed where we notice but would appreciate people reporting the post. That way it reminds us. Often we are not up to speed with the latest status.

If it's due to being listed as dodgy, let us know which company is rating it and we can request it's re-evaluation.

I've done Trend & requested Websense. Some antivirus companies list a site as dodgy and then block it. Even when it;s fixed it;s still on their block list until someone gives them a prod. Decent antivirus software actually looks at code rather than relies on ancient reports.

 

I've seen on other forums the functionality to copy tweets directly to a post with some code. It shows as the twitter post with all the links and stuff.

It is, but involves some playing with the js in the background which I don't have time to do at the moment.

It is on my to-do list though, along with the same functionality for vines.
