Would we miss any of them? Doucs hot and cold, but mainly cold, Deulofeu looks like a world beater and then goes to pieces when he gets to the penalty area and Pereyra is a mix of both.

I think that Flores may have been sacked!!

I've just driven by the training ground and there is a mass exodus of players leaving in their cars. This was at about 1pm. They were all called in this morning, so something big is happening I suspect.

I might be completely wrong about Flores going, that's just a guess, but having all the players in on a Sunday is unusual. Could have been some sort of crisis meeting, but something out of the ordinary is happening for sure.

You never believe what I write, but this is absolutely true. I've got it on my car webcam. Loads of cars queuing up all leaving at the same time. It's very unusual for this to happen. I've never seen so many cars going at once, and never on a Sunday lunchtime. I even let out a black Range Rover with tinted windows and an Audi Q2. These are player's cars almost certainly.

Had Flores been sacked, then I suspect news of that would have broken by now, so I'm thinking it's more of a case of a crisis meeting. The odds have dropped, but not massively. When Gracia was sacked the odds plummeted instantly to heavy odds on. This is not the case at the moment.

Surely if it was a crisis meeting then it could wait until tomorrow. Maybe more a case of extra training , shooting , crossing practice wouldn't go amiss

Could be extra training. All leaving at 1pm though is a bit odd. I drive pass the training ground several times every day as I have a house in Shenley. It's unusual to see that many cars leaving at 1pm.

Best I can do. You can see me letting in the Range Rover, and the queue of other cars on the right.

Don’t the players normally go in for a bit on a Sunday? Warm down training or something like that

I haven’t read the match thread as I can pretty much guess at who said what between 5 and 6pm.
So an hour ago was first visit to the forum since Friday and I came upon this little gem of a thread.
I can understand why people want him out but I can never quite work why people need to be so unpleasant about it and talk about managers or players as if they’d killed one of your relatives. It’s very odd.
Onto Flores. I have some sympathy with him and cards he’s being dealt.
He came in to a side shipping loads of goals presumably with the task of making us tighter at the back. First game was against Arsenal in what was our best performance of the season. Then came the embarrassment at City and then Wolves. I suspect he saw in the City and Wolves games that we were not able to be strong at the back playing his preferred 4 at the back so chose to go to 5 which in fairness had worked. This of course reduced our attacking threat but since half way through Chelsea game we started to press more and looked like scoring again. The problem we are now having is the injuries. For the sixth game running we had to make a sub before half time which reduces our options. The problem is I don’t think he feels confident to play with a four still which meant Mariappa played and then Masina as well although at that point with no recognised centre backs I would have changed formation.
Might point is, his hands are tied. We don’t have a good enough back line of players to play his preferred formation. He is constantly having to make early subs due to injuries.
We were easily the best team yesterday until Dawson went off and should have been comfortably winning.
He is not getting the rub of the green and most of it is not his fault

But why weren’t we comfortably winning? Because we have no decent goalscorers!

That’s very true, but again, not Flores fault.

I like the way you find excuses and appear to be a Flores apologist.

But, just picking through your reasons, it falls apart very quickly. Why did an experienced manager need to see the demolition at City and didn't react when going to Wolves?

By your own admission he came into the job knowing we were a side shipping in goals. Personally I felt he should have changed things before Man City. He did this when he was boss the last time around. I remember he made sure the game was a damage limitation exercise, and this is what he should have done this time around.

Ok, but I can accept he got caught out, and maybe he thought the second half comeback against Arsenal gave him confidence to set up that way again.

However, after shipping in an astonishing 8 goals at City there was no change of formation at all for the next game. He set up exactly the same way at Wolves. So conceding 10 goals in his first two games, were not enough for him to think something has to change. So we had to experience another 2 goals conceded before the penny finally dropped.

But luckily we have a newly promoted side at home, who would come to us and be happy to take a point. After all they wouldn't go gung-ho against us nor would their attacking quality really expose us. We now have a game where it would make sense to attack and take the game to the opposition......but not a bit of it. He suddenly sees Sheff Utd as a much more terrifying prospect than City or Wolves away and decides to play 5 at the back and 2 DMF's. The only thing that surprised me was he didn't play both Foster and Gomes in goal, although I expect he would have had the rules allowed it.

For me, he's been an utter disaster. The way he has hoisted the white flag in the home games has absolutely no merit whatsoever. It tells the opposition we're terrified of you and all you need to do is score a goal to beat us. This is exactly how it's gone in the home games since Arsenal. We've scored zero goals at home under Flores since he changed to the ultra-defensive formation. You cannot give him the penalty, as that was purely down to Mike Dean's rather strange decision on the day.

The only thing he's got right, is playing with 5 at the back in the away games. It makes perfect sense to do this, and I give him credit for this, but he's a one trick pony and is unable to switch styles to maximise our potential against home opponents.

His hands are not tied. A good coach can create a far more effective unit than he has to date.

When we go a goal down we're shot. There is no reaction, the players give up. This is why 0-1 turned into 0-3 against Burnley. A well drilled and motivated side, would have stormed back, but with the formation we played, it's impossible to start attacking the opposition when you need to chase the game.

I do not dislike Flores, but his methods are not working.

I’m not a Flores apologist but I don’t think he’s had that much luck. I’m not going to go back to the Sheff Utd game again as we have differing views that are not going to change.
Maybe he’s not the right man for the job but as somebody pointed out, we have an average age of over 30, we have an injury for the last six games in the first half and we bought poorly. None of this is his fault. Despite playing the way you don’t think we should, we won at Norwich and for 45 minutes yesterday we were by far the better team and should have been winning but we don’t have a goal scorer in the squad. I do feel he got it wrong yesterday when Dawson went off. That’s when we should have gone to four at the back rather than shoehorning Masina in at center back. That’s his fault and sure I don’t agree with everything he does but I do feel he could do with some luck

Only losers complain about bad luck. Gracia had bad luck also. We should have beaten Newcastle. We should have got a point at Everton. Hughes missed a sitter against West Ham with the score at 1-1. We should have got a penalty against Brighton and Gray missed a sitter also when we were only 1-0 down. All bad luck stories....but it's a repeating theme.

The bottom line is, has Flores turned it around? No......we look worse at home than we've ever done. We don't have a hope in hell of winning by playing 5 at the back in the home games. The only time we looked like winning a home game under him was Arsenal, when he played 4 at the back and we had a right go at them. Since then he's morphed us into this gutless, timid side who's only ambition is to grind out a 0-0 and maybe nick a goal on the break. It's just laughable to think this type of approach will win us a string of games.

We'll only stay up if our home form is decent. Under Flores, we're not even giving ourselves a chance.

If you bothered to read the 5pm till 6pm posts I found them quite measured and resigned. A gallows humour. Still you ignored them because you are superior.

Flores has been dreadful. He’s had home games against Sheff Utd, Bournemouth and Burnely and scored........zero. He is a negative limited manager who we have already fired once. If we are to have any chance of avoiding the drop we need to reverse the awful lazy decision to rehire him.

We are probably done for anyway, but it would be nice to have a manager who was a bit more positive because the results can’t get any worse.

In the meantime it would be great if you can resist your constant need to give other supporters flak as part of your own virtue signalling.

Not sure why you said that I think I’m superior. I didn’t read the posts between 5 and 6pm because normally it’s a load over reactivate flannel. If that wasn’t the case then I tip my hat to those who posted because that would be a nice change.

We were awful against Newcastle so not sure why we should have won. At Everton they had 2 or 3 glorious chances to finish the game. West Ham we were decent but we don’t have a goal scorer and at that point we were defensively shocking. Even if Hughes had scored I’m not convinced we would have seen out the game.
As I’ve said, I’m not sure if he’s the right person for this job but who is?
