    Thanks Evasive.

My manager is trying to nudge me in the direction of an MSc, and I know in order to become chartered I'm essentially required to have a Masters. However the course at my Uni (Coventry) has modules which I want to avoid, by lecturers I want to avoid... So if I do go on to the masters it'll be elsewhere.

It's hard to find the motivation now that I finally have freedom though!

My advice is to definitely, without question, do your masters now. God knows how people who've said they'll go back a year later etc then couldn't justify as commitments and priorities soon changed.

Plus, you'll be refreshed come October to put in another year!

This was what I was getting at. It's a lot easier to get a masters than spend time later converting a IEng to a CEng.

True, don't underestimate the momentum you will have. Plus you can choose the masters course to specialise in the area of engineering you want to work in: structures, geotechnical etc etc and if that is at a different uni then go for it!

With a first you should be doing a masters or else you're completely wasting your talent, IMHO.

Just turned my 52% in second year into a 2:1.

    Equally chuffed and relieved.
