The more I think about it the crazier it was to sack Pearson and Shakespeare.

£1m is a hell of a motivation. Do you think Pearson would have downed tools and not given Watford 100% effort?

There is no reason that I can think of why it was better to remove him to put Mullins in his place.

We are weaker by this event. It’s not possible for it to have made us stronger.

The board can only come out of this intact if somehow we pull off the great escape on Sunday.

If we do go down the criticism for the appalling timing of sacking Pearson will be something that will always be thrown at them.

If they don’t have very good reasons for it and do not relay this to the fans, then I think they will lose a lot of support and the good faith built up over the years.

Not only is Sunday huge for the club, it’s huge for the relationship between supporters and the board.

Exactly. I don't care if he got Gino in a headlock and messed up his hair, it's just totally nuts to sack him. Gino could've swallowed his pride for another week or so. Putting Mullins and Stack in charge was ridiculous.

    Same as I've said.

It is incredibly reckless and arrogant to have sacked Pearson, on the assumption that they could put in place a head coach who had two - TWO!!!! - matches of experience in senior professional football and it would be adequate. Knowing how we operate, that meant they thought they could sit in the stands and shout instructions, and that it would be good enough.

If we go down, it is their fault for many reasons. This decision, which is a result of unhappiness following an argument (evidently), is high on the list.

If they'd have drafted in some mad italian for the last two matches I could have got behind it. But mullins and stack? FFS.

The good thing is that in a funny way it dulls the pain of relegation. When relegation is confirmed we can justify it by how much we hate the players and how much we hate the owners and the management structure and how much it serves them right for what they have turned our club into. When we went down under GT it was genuinely sad that it happened to him and those players. This time they deserve to feel the pain, emotionally and financially.

They must have really hated Pearson to sack a bloke one week away from being out of contract.

And to not even say thank you for the job done.

Everyone else got that in the club statements.

Pozzos won't care about the bad PR.

I can only imagine Pearson shouting at Gino whilst pointing at Giraldi, saying "What is the point of this useless fat c*nt? He knows f*ck all about football management and he hangs round the training ground like a bad smell interfering in everything. The pr*ck is constantly telling me how to do my job when he has no experience of the role. If you think this c*ck adds any value, then sack me and put him in charge. If not, then tell him to f*cking stay away from me and my team".

Mine was the first year with Zola. It was all so new and exciting. After years of watching hopeless cloggers we were being treated to talented players and sexy football. All those guys seemed to buy in to the club as well. It felt like an affirmation of how special our club was that all these foreigners who’d probably never heard of Watford until they pitched up there could see what we were about and took the responsibility of upholding those values.

Being relegated will hopefully mean the end of that fecking ‘in Pozzos we trust’ crappy saying.

We are getting relegated because their inept player recruitment and their grotesque spies/snitches they employ close to them

These owners were financially out of their depth at simply cannot compete with even the smaller clubs that have languished in the bottom half. Those that bucked the trend like Burnley did so by sticking with their coach/manager through think and thin.

I agree behind the scenes is rotten to the core.

I expect they are waiting for the end of the season before they say anything.

Maybe their plan did work, each season, bar one they have tried very hard to get us relegated and the coach was always tasked with ensuring there was a massive slump in results after Xmas. through to May. Where there plan failed was there were 3 shittier teams than us which blew their plan.

Finally after all that hard work they have succeeded.

    I expect silence to endure.

There will be a footnote about this season in a statement regarding the new manager when he is announced and how they will look to bring success after this seasons disappointment. That will be our lot.

Optimistically hoping for a statement that Giraldi is sacked but realistically he is probably going to be here a while longer...

Leaders learn from their mistakes,so Gino has plenty to learn from these last 18 months.
Some contrition would be welcome but it needs to be within the next 36 hours or it will look false.

Doubt they even considered relegation. Like certain posters on here who simply put their fingers in their ears and attacked anyone who suggested it, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the hierarchy's attitude towards it too.

    I fear you are correct.

And that could mean we have a period of paralysis while they try and put in a plan for the Championship.

Unfortunately we don't have time for such a delay with the short turnaround for the new season.

We need a new manager and a squad ready and in training for the new season within a week or two or we could start the season very badly....again.

The real question is, when are they going to do the unveiling of our shiny new kit, ready to wing its way into the homes of tens of millions of new Chinese converts, now?

I was thinking about this a bit yesterday. I suppose if they had something prepared and ready to upload the minute the full time whistle went at the Emirates it would have looked insincere. I can't see them saying much yet. No point unless they have answers to the obvious questions.

Message now been put on the club website from Gino and Scott - there is an apology of sorts in there but it was this paragraph that stood out

"That is not to detract from mistakes that were made surrounding the team this season. We have to be scrupulously honest with ourselves and admit our efforts surrounding the team were not good enough"

Surely this has to fall on Giraldi's head, given it's his sole job!
