I think this is a good point. This won't be the first time a son has taken over a business that his father has successfully built over years and f***ed it up in no time at all. Bring back Pozzo Sr

I don’t disagree with this. The reason I am calling for their heads currently is they say nothing and, judging by results, do nothing as well.

They need to clarify their position so we can decide, as supporters, wether we are behind their vision and capacity to deliver it or not.

If We hate 48 is just close to being right, what are the chances this club will actually cease to exist or be totally financially crippled in the next 2 years?

They won’t be silent when we get relegated.

I would be shocked if Gino doesn’t try to sue the FA, Refs, Premier League, Hawkeye and anyone else he can think of, for our relegation.

It’s going to be embarrassing and we will continue to be the laughing stock of English football. Won’t stop him from trying though.

Silence from Troy Deeney needs to be noted, as well.

Other than being wheeled out for the BeIN Sports interview used to refute the rumours about why Pearson was sacked, he's not been visible with media after matches. It's strange and rather embarrassing that they've now put Will Hughes out multiple times to deal with the tough questions.

Our captain and leader should have the cojones to answer questions from the media after our team loses.

Deeney failed to act as captain and leader many years ago. Had he acted as one the club would not be in this mess. He is as complicit in all this as the idiots Pozzo and Duxbury. All farkin useless.

Which fans do we not have presently?

I have been a supporter for 40-odd years but don't have a season ticket.

Nonetheless if I'm organised can get tickets to most games, except against the bigger clubs.

Agreed, that's a great shout from JB. Hadn't even thought of the fact Gino's had his hand held all the way through until then.

I have family that work for the club who fear for their jobs. They have been at Watford FC a long time, many years before promotion or the Pozzo’s, so I’m hopeful that they will not really be at risk and are only saying it to brace themselves for the worst.

For their sake I hope for a miracle on the final day, but should we be relegated - and they keep their jobs - it won’t be such a bad thing. The Premier League is a bit too showy and corporate. Of course the whole Football League is going that way but it isn’t quite as bad yet. Hopefully we can quickly put together a team that can challenge for a top-half finish and we’ll build from there.

I hope they ask Captain Cojones, and his band of merry men, to foot their utility bills and mortgage if they do lose their jobs.

Fingers crossed they won't though. People at the club have been badly let down by the hierarchy and the players.

Of course they won't. Society in it's foolishness has set up actors, models etc and sporting stars to be role models and people to be worshipped rather than people who actually contribute in a concrete fashion to society and actually achieve worthwhile things. Most footballers are tax dodgers. The effusive praise handed to Rashford like any other celebrity ignores the voluntary workers and campaigners that every single day of the year strive to help others but get no recognition. But because Rashford is in the public eye he gets all the credit. It was hard enough to get them to get any money out of their hands during this crisis. They live in their sheltered bubbles for the most part. And as for the government they should have realized anyway that many children need to be fed a decent balanced healthy meal at school so that they have enough energy to study and play and realize the disgraceful situation of many families having to rely on food banks in what is supposed to be a first world nation.

There was no such disconnect when GT was here. Everyone was deemed important not just these sporting demigods.

I believe he would be shaking his head in disbelief at what has been going on. Can you imagine Floppo going up to him with a clipboard and telling him you're not doing it right. The thing is UEA he got so many things right. One of the main ones was treating people properly. Even the ones he did not get along with or see eye to eye.

And this is the key thing for me about the Pozzos and why I am so vehemently anti-them.

It's not that they make mistakes, or that they aren't the richest in the league, it's that they stick to some dislikable, underhanded MO in all their dealings and are still unsuccessful.

When you are successful, people will ignore your poor character or the shameful way you conduct yourself, but eventually, once that stops, there is nothing left to redeem you.

We've been a blot on the footballing landscape for a long time now. We have no footballing identity as a club, no holistic cultural approach, apart from shady dealings across Europe, farming out young footballers with questionable promises, rank treatment of coaches and a contemptible approach to the fans in the terraces.

When we were securing 15th every season, the answer to any criticism was "it works."

Until it doesn't. Now we are not only a club experiencing failure, we're doing it with no pride or respect. Because we have no moral compass as a club - and that comes from the top.

I know people will call ne naive or whatever, but I can tell you, paper and contracts are great and all, but long term success is engendered at a human level. Good will cannot be easily bought and sold and we've given ours away. Goodwill with the fans, with other clubs, with our former coaches, players, the wider media and footballing public.

It matters, especially when you are no longer in the position of strength, because now everyone will revel in ******* on you as you fall.

Funny how everyone today seems to be talking about fire sales, double dip relegation and the owners selling up in every thread. Even the Cult Of Gino.

But they've spent the season saying what wonderful and prudent owners they are and how wrong anyone was to criticise them. Watford fans obviously suffer from some sort of acute cognitive dissonance.

Yes and no. I think a lot of people have been raising questions about how it works since the final and you'd be hard pushed to find anyone who thought we were all good at the back or up front.

More importantly, who is that in your avatar??

It’s funny that some people on this forum consider the Pozzos unsuccessful and failures. Based on actual achievements and demonstrable facts they are amongst the most successful owners WFC have ever had.

There was some stat in that Guardian article that regardless of relegation this season, based on final league position, is one of the best 10 in our 122 year history.

  21. GoingDown

Then relegation will just be a bump in the road. Our owners won't take relegation lying down and go all guns blazing for promotion next season and we'll storm to promotion easily.

I agree with some of what you've said, but really have to question this part.

Think about the tremendous effort the club went through to support the NHS. There was absolutely a moral compass - one that I think made so many of us incredibly proud to be Watford supporters, because the club did such a selfless thing.

I think there are very legitimate questions about some ways the club works in terms of footballing matters. And that includes questions about our moral compass on footballing matters, with head coaches and staff dismissed so readily, players farmed out with no intention of ever being part of Watford, and so on. But compared to owners really lacking a moral compass - the men who ruined Blackpool, Leyton Orient and Charlton for example - I think we're in a much better situation. Even if it's still not a good situation right now.

I can assure you I won't. I may feel different come Sunday when I'm in the pub after a few, and we stay up after taking a beating less severe than Villa. But that's not how I feel right now.

Fair play to you if you can paper over the massive cracks in that moment - I don't think I will! But everyone is different. But I think its obvious from reading the various threads on here that not every fan just wants us to stay up at all costs.

Every fan wants us to stay up. To say otherwise is nothing more than a coping mechanism to help numb the pain if and when relegation is confirmed.

For me a big issue is the communication or rather the lack of it, with the fans. Perhaps it's more than that, the bond with the fans, the connection, the emotional "we're in this together lads (and lassies)". Under the Pozzo model it does not appear to be Gino or Scott Duxbury who gives a lead here. In most clubs it is the manager but we have a Head Coach who is asked to focus just on the playing side and oh yes, by the way, 'do' media duties. Nigel Pearson reached out to the fans quite well, good on TV and his programme notes were actually worth reading after the content-free stuff from Gracia and QSF. However, I got the impression that this was down to his own genuine belief that the fans really do matter. Can the same be said for our owners?

Which is fine, but I think it’s also important to remember GT had no issues associating himself with the Pozzo. He resumed his Life Presidency of the club after he took over, accepted the stand renaming and attended Vicarage Road relatively regularly until his untimely passing. Duxbury spoke of the advice he gave them and which they often listened to as well.

I don’t want us to go down because I want us to be below the level we are now. It would be purely to teach the clowns in charge a lesson I don’t think they will otherwise learn.

I reckon all will be forgotten and we will love next season in championship.

my favourite year was the Deeney, Vydra and Ighalo championship year. I know it is easy to say as we go down but bet we all enjoy next year. Sat 3pm kickoffs, no prawn sandwiches, no 8-0 thrashings.

bring it on I say. Just hope we get some fresh blood that wants to spill blood for the club - not millionaires on 80k a week who have no incentive to work their socks of
