OK Bubbly- we nearly agree in a way - the only difference i see is that you are really pe'd off by the 3 very shyte performances we have had. I too am pee'd off by them but don't hold on to that as we have had some stunning and unlucky performances too. I recall last season my chelski winkers mates coming into the pride after one match when they were many points clear, saying how crap and hpow boring chelsea were. Where is the balance where a fan is content?

My balance is apparently different ot your balance concerning performances of the team.

Great chatting to ya, see you at wet spam.

Perry, if only everyone (and me especially) was as optimistic as you! Were you like this before Boothroyd came or are you a convert? ;)

Hopefully you are right. I remain unconvinced however and look forward to being wrong. On this one occasion only thanking you. :p

Actually, it is about time one of your outrageous high scoring predictions came true again...

I grant you we were missing quality players against Sheff Utd...however the only real player that night that put any effort in besides Mahon was Matty Spring! His quality/fitness was lacking but you could see he was putting effort in whereas Francis was strolling around the pitch! Spring got the rollocking from the fans because his overall quality was lacking! I don't think that's acceptable from any fans...if a players gives his all that's good enough for me!

Even if you're without your more quality players we should have had enough to get a result against Sheff Utd with the squad we have!

apparently i have always been an optimistic, easy going happy go lucky person through out my life. Basically my principal is to be happy with one's next breath in life. Nothing else matters if the next breath don't arrive. Everything that comes with the next breath is a bloody huge bonus -whether good, bad or indifferent.

Saving that big win score for Colins Winkers at Barnballs lane. :)

Sadly, for me. This is all doom and gloom at the moment.

    Relegation is never nice.

Dont get me wrong, if I thought we were going down a better side I'd be happy.

    But we're not.

People keep saying that we're now financially secure and we'll go out and buy, and come up at the first attempt but whats stopping the board siphoning off the cash we've made from promotion and Ash's sale and moving on?
Simpson and the Russos have ploughed a lot of dough in with so far little financial reward.... I CANNOT believe they will not recoup at least some of it with a bit of interest on top whether they stay or not.
The money thats come in is the only obvious plus point so far in 06-07... so for me, whilst its not mine, im very protective over it.

There needs to be a reason for the pain of practically humiliation for the best part of this season and the money we've made is precisely IT!

Bubbly you do believe then that our squad is decent and can get results - Sheff utd ( whether you love or hate them, they are better than any championship side) and could stay up.

No not really mate, what I said was completely inaccurate! I just despise Sheffield Utd and their spoiling tactics!

we paid the price last season with the glory and gloating of promotion and nicking Leeds and palsarses place in their rightful position as big clubs in the premiership.

You think you've got doom and gloom James mate - cheer yourelf up and go watch Leeds play for a game and listen to their fans and suffer their dispair. It is far greater than yours.

Yes Leeds, palsarse and everyone is laughing at us - so what - he who laughs last laughs loudest.

Uck em - -there all winkers.

If you aint Watford you just AINT - ur nothin!!

should we have spoiled more games? would you be happy staying up by playing spoiling tactics if it were WFC?

    Bubble Wise Oracle

I'd be happy to spoil games like we did against scum last season if it meant winning...but when I talk about Sheff Utd they spoil the game away from home before it's even started! Very boring tactic!

Chelsea spoil the game AFTER they've taken the lead because they have a good defence and this is why they've done well in recent years!

We are abit too naive...Fulham at home is a great example!

Great analogy there Paddy, and spot on. We're a small family business which has just taken on a great manager. We've dented the local Asda profits and we've bought a new corner shop. We're beating most of the small shops in our road, but we're still way off challenging Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda, in fact we're not even able to compete with Aldi (Aston Villa):)

We're not Tesco's or Asda or any of that lot

    We're different.

We're McDonalds... Very cheap, lots of kids working for us, desparately lacking in quality (with the exception of the Big Tasty aka Marlon King which makes an appearance then dissappears for a while). Plus we have Big MacKay.... the old stagers been around forever but can still do a job when asked!

We'll never be Tesco's but we CAN the the best at what we are.

Sadly this season, senior management have fuc*** things up for us all. It was obvious from day 1 that the £1 saver menu was never going to work.

We needed quality, and while Burger King (Sheff Utd) and Reading (KFC) have invested, we've not tried hard enough.

  25. PaddingtonsYellowArmy

    PaddingtonsYellowArmy First Team Captain

aren't burger king and kfc wned by he same company and have outlets world wide?

Unless one can afford to sustain the likes of a £60k a week employee ( which we cannot) that the big companies can, is it not more viable to have 6 £10k per week employees who can do a job, cover for each other and bond as part of a hrd working team.

Do peple really believe that buying colins john at £3.25 million and £22k per week would solve our league position?

If you are not happy supporting your local family business then go join the millions that support tesco, asda, sainsbury and collect your nectar points and be happy every second of your life knowing your getting the best value all the time.

To use Kabba as an example is unfair for two reasons:

    1) - he is not match fit and used to playing with our players
    2) - last season he was top scorer after approx 10 games for Sheff Utd and everyone was raving about him. To write him of so quickly comes from the negatitve attitude held at present.

Williams - as in point one above.

UEA - Mouldy stock - surely 95% of player aquisitions can be classed as mouldy stock - otherwise the club selling/releasing wouldn't.

Ben Foster is left overs then , I assume?

KJ - Our signings hav ebeeen rather extensive this season. Tamas, Damien, Danny add up to tidy sum compared to the history of the club.

People seem so upset by the performance v Bolton ( which i fully understand) but in perspective of the whole season, it ws one of 4/5 very vry dismal efforts ou tof 25 in the league. I feel there is a huge over reaction.

What happeed to the statements from a debate on the olfd message board - " I don't care if we go down next season if we get promoted to the premeiership, the money is importtant and we get to play agianst the best".

The fact we did get promoted gave a false sense of ability to our status.

The fact we lost to Bolton did not and does not affect the previous 24 league games which form has shown we are going down, so stop isolating the the Bolton performance because at the end of the day we only lost one - nil the same as up in Bolton when we hit the bar and post and could have scored 3 or 4. I know there appeared to be a lack of purpose and fight v bolton but I would reckon it was not done on purpose as a collective or individual pre planned assignment, more a case of too many chages and lack of understanding.

It's a beautiful bright cool morning today - lets all have a smile on the basis we are still a premeirship club and when we beat Chelski at the VIC will be a big dent in their £400 million push for another premiership title and show that shyte teams can have a say.

Paddy I really admire your sense of positiveness but weve been in this position before. In 99-00

Got promoted, became financially sound, didnt spend much on new players, got relegated, struggled the following season, tried to buy our way out of trouble and failed terribly.

Now you might say that wont happen again but what happens if we go down and we DO start struggling. I can hear the boos pounding out from the Rook end already which in turn, im sure, would force the boards hand in trying to get us out of trouble. And please dont say that they wouldnt risk panic buys.... weve just witnessed that in the last couple of weeks.

The point I (and others) are trying to make is that, whilst we accept we're probably down, we dont look any better than last year. If anything, we look worse.

None of us know whether MK will play for us again (bearing in mind we were a one man team before he got injured).. And we've our second best player to the Villa.

Right now, I genuinely feel we would struggle against the current top ten in the Champ.

Everyone knows that most sides struggle when they go down... I can see us being no different. Add to that the sales of Demerit, Shittu & Bouazza, plus the loss of Foster in the summer and what are we left with?

Sorry Paddy, DEFINITELY NOT sharing your sense of joy!

Well if the rumours of Demerit quitting are true then he may well be on his way.

Bouazza may go to a mid-table team, E.G. Bolton, Reading, Wigan, Everton

Shittu has been subject to a few rumours also, but I feel he may not go, as he may be seen a 'risk' by other Premiership teams.

    KJ - i hear what you say, but since 2000 look what has happened, within 6 years we had bounced back to teh premiership, reshaped the club;
    a) - financially
    b) - player wise
    c) - fan base is growing

It is only your opinion that the sales will happen, at present they are very much part of WFC - Foster i agree won't be here next season, and that is teh oNE FACTOR i have gone on and on about regarding Bozo and Coco, Coco has lost two seaspons experience at teh cost of Bozo who will go and play for manure. That is only down to Aidy - yet we have had some benefit from Bozo - humour.

I recall when we met a couple of years ago in Harrus, you had a similar down beat attitude, was all for slating the board and was in dispair at the clubs predicament - you obviously feel we have not moved forward one inch and by the sounds of it nbackwards as we, in your opinion will not eve be able to compete next season.

Chill out KJ mate - I'll bring a spliff to Wet Spam - that will at least give you the giggles for a while :)

AGREED!! The top four you mention... Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool... The only football club i admire in that lot is Arsenal... They will not budge from their principles...

WILL NOT pay stupid money for players!
WILL NOT break their strict wage structure for prime doughnuts!

They ARE prepared to invest in their youth policy and academy!
They ARE prepared to take a step back in order for their policies to work!

You can already see this working with both of their teams, A and B! Young squads, that cost hardly anything, playing good football! You know that they are doing things right in a proper way and are going to be a force to be reckoned with!!

They didnt even have to float their club, sell out on the stock exchange or pull down their trousers and bend over to a rich yank in order to build their new stadium!

I am Watford through and through, but if their is one club I admire for the way they run things it is Arsenal. If the third best coach on the planet decided to leave them, i think it could crumble a bit, but while he is there, they are admirable.

We have not got lots of money! That is obvious... so what if our directors want some of their loan money back that they kindly put forward to stop our club disappearing! Who can begrudge them that?

We have to invest in the youth and our academy because we have no choice!
The bottom line is we got promoted a season to early! But it will benefit us in the long run. We are building now what we would have been building if we had not got promoted to the premier in that first glorious season... It is Aidy's plan!! He knew when he came here after Ray that we were not a buying club and that if he wanted success here, it would have to be built more along the lines of Arsenal than Chelsea!!

Would spending 10 million have ensured survival? Not necessarily, no! But it could have seriously arrested our development and even taken us even further backwards!

This season is a bonus... it would have been lovely to survive this first year, especially considering the hard times we have recently come through, but I am extremely confident of a great 2007/ 2008 season because I can see further than the black clouds of relegation!!

Anyway... WE ONLY NEED ANOTHER 8 WINS!!!!

We can still do this!!! COME ON YOU F*CKING GOLDEN BOYS!!!!
