Excellent point, epic. I worry for what it does for fitness with Monday lunchtime already on the horizon but the adrenaline alone makes tonight worthwhile. Hopefully Motta's red card will be rescinded tomorrow and we'll have him back.

Good performance overall, in all honesty.

Our first half was a composed, excellent away team performance up until the penalty. We were managing Derby extremely well and containing them to the point that their shots were long range speculative efforts. While the penalty was stonewall, the red card was not warranted and I will be very surprised if it isn't rescinded.

Ince's goal was a bit fortunate with how the ball bounced but fair play to him, he made the most of it. I still think he's a *** though.

Guedioura was excellent today but MOTM to me has to be Cathcart. Brilliant all game and even his yellow card was well taken.

The boys dug deep and got the result. That point was the sort of point a promotion winning side earns, and I am completely convinced that we'd have done Derby over with 11 men. Friend was a complete homer and once again a ref ruined our chances of winning in a match against a promotion rival. I doubt any of us were surprised, to be honest. It's a testament to the team's will to win that they got a point out of this.

Roll on Monday. I believe in the boys.

Let's get behind the lads for the last 6 games. We can do this. Even if it goes wrong and we need the play-offs, we can do it.

Quite simply, Adlene Guedioura probably just gave the best second half performance I've seen from a Watford player in a very, very long time. Likely ever.

    Absolutely majestic.

Great point lads, win on Monday and well be fine.

IRB, is it really necessary to pick on Layun every game? Give it a rest, we need unity and support not petty, childish, behaviour from our fans.

And these sky pundits? What ****s they are. They had very few chances after we were down to 10 men. The pundits were talking like it some sort of heroic performance from Derby.

    ****s,

The guy died for the team tonight - I hope the rest of the team takes note because he played like our leader out there.

And I thought Deeney was excellent again in the same vain, he just never stops battling. If we don't go up then I hope he gets his Premier League move because he absolutely deserves it on just effort alone.

Layun just needs to take a seat.

My heart can't handle this. Usual BS ref red card. Another overturned? That pass by Guedioura is simply the best I've seen all season and always believe in your soul!!!

Avoided the second half by putting the kids to bed, as nerves were not up to it. Mr HH's impartial view, after watching the full 90 minutes, was that Guedioura was MOTM (can't wait to see his pass for our second goal which Mr HH described as 'sublime'), Deeney and Cathcart stood out too but that it was overall a good team performance. Doesn't sound like Layun had a great game but don't see what is gained from repeated posts slating him? Also, think it's a touch immature to dislike a post, just because it has a different view on a player to the one you hold.

I thought Layun had his best game for us tonight, always there to team up with Hoban on the left hand side to keep Ince quiet for the majority. Watson gives the ball away far to often for a player playing his role, simple balls go straight to the opposing team.

Great result tonight which needs following up with a win on Monday

This is the same support that cheered Ighalo off the pitch and slagged off Vydra at every opportunity.

    Who scored for us tonight?

"Poor goals"? Pretty sure he was watching a different game. Guedioura's pass for Iggy's equaliser was nothing short of world class.

Agree that Layun wasn't bad tonight. He might not be setting the league alight but it was nowhere near a poor performance and he supported Hoban well.

  22. We played heroically in spite of the bloody ref......Guedioura was immense, an impressive point given, really proud of their performance tonight, play like that and we can beat ANYONE in this league.

watched in the pub with my watford supporting brother, dad, uncle and grandfather. up until the red card it looked like in my opinion we would get the three points, resigned myself to defeat from that point on.

however our lads put a real shift in, almost to a man. adlene was absolutely superb, ran himself absolutely ragged for the cause, just like i thought matej was in the first half. deeney led from the front with his indomitable fighting spirit and cathcart has become one of the most accomplished defenders I've seen in a yellow shirt, and then gomes with a couple of heroic saves. thoroughly deserved point tonight.

bring on middlesborough, and lets pick up three points at the vic.

Gomez was excellent, as was the whole defence but especially Cathcart. Signing of the season. I thought Layun did ok first half without setting the world alight. Guerdioura especially second half was brilliant. Watson was not, gave it away for the penalty and for Bents chance just after we scored. Front 3 were definitely causing Derby problems and had we not had another awful decision go against us, the sending off not the penalty, then there looked only one winner.
I know it's not a sending off but like the decision at Bournemouth it's our fault again that we end up in a position where a red has these decisions to make. So irritating as we looked the better side at that point. All that taken in to account its a great point. Let's all get behind them as from looking at tonight the players desperately want this

    What a match.

First 10 minutes we were poor but after that we were fantastic. Up to the penalty we were dominating and deserved our lead. After that we fought incredibly well and at times still looked the better team, fatigue got to the team in the end but team spirit got us through it.

Gomes - Great performance although wasn't actually tested that much. Great reaction save early on and commanded the box well.

Motta - I actually thought he played well until the red. It was a definite penalty but I think he was going for the interception rather than the tackle, poorly timed but felt quite sorry for him. Never in a million years was it a red.

Cathcart - Our best defender, solid again.

Angella - Very quiet until about the 70th minute when he was called upon more. He is a fantastic defender but his stupidity is very nearly costly too often. Possible pen when he was all over Ince and then caught out when he tried to usher it out of play. Saved us when Watson played them in though.

Hoban - Quiet enough game which is always good for a defender. After the first 10 minutes he dealt with Ince well.

Guedioura - Awful first half hour but after that he was simply amazing. We wouldn't have gotten a point without him, he is a true battler and a fantastic player.

Watson - Receives a lot of criticism (and rightly so) for his awful touch and sometimes silly tackling (he lost the ball for the pen) but he does a lot of work in the middle of the park, either breaking down their attacks or making interceptions

Layun - Encouraging from our 'boo-boy'. Was our best player in the opening 15 and yes, he had some sloppy passes, but his overall play was good. Helped Hoban out with Ince incredibly well too.

Vydra - What a shame it was to see him go off at HT with an injury. An absolute mammoth effort from him in the first half and took his goal brilliantly. Really worked his socks off for the team. I know Ighalo got a goal but I think we might have even won that if Vydra stayed on instead of Ighalo (if he hadn't have been injured obviously).

Ighalo - Pretty rusty but took his goal brilliantly. Had a half decent shot from outside the box too. Worked very hard as well.

Deeney - Saved the best for last. The greatest leader I have ever seen on a football pitch. Never stopped running and a proper watford legend. We are incredibly lucky to have him in our team.

Anya - Actually thought he played really well when he came on, offered nothing going forward as he wasn't required too but was solid at the back.

Connolly - A no nonsense performance from the debutant and looked calm. Pleased with his performance.

Tozser - A tough game for a CM to play but did have one good fk delivery. Unfair to judge too harshly based on tonights match

Thing is with Layun, he's not obviously not terrible. He's just not participating effectively enough. I want the guy to succeed, but we seriously cannot afford to have someone in our team attempting to acclimatise with 6 games to go and Premier League football on the line.

This is not about "picking" on someone.

Fantastic point, Guédioura needs to be signed up asap! I thought Watson, Motta & Layun all had poor games and Derby are extremely overrated and very wasteful.

The amount of times we kept giving it back to Derby was so frustrating, especially when holding for 2-2. We couldn't hold onto it for more than about 2 seconds which made is so painful to watch and more prolific teams would easily punish us, as they have done in the past. Time to beat Middlesbrough now and take back the top spot.

Kevin Friend is taking a bit of a slating but in all honesty his decision wasn't inexplicable for me.

OK you might argue he hasn't taken into account that the ball isn't totally under control, but, especially from his angle on it, the red card could well be justified. It went against us but it wasn't a nutcase decision to brandish the red, was it? Really?

Without a replay I thought it was a red card.

Either way Motta is the one who deserves a slating. It was a horribly stupid challenge. I'm a fan of his - I said to my mate about 5 minutes before he fouled that he was our best player in the first half. However - that really is a rush of blood moment!

Agree that this could be a crucial point, not only in and of itself, but also as a boost to the team morale, who must feel that they can grind out the points we need, whatever the circumstances.

It was a pen, not a red, but the ref hadn't got a replay to view. I can see his reasoning, so not a shocking abomination of a decision, just not quite right, in my view. Some of his bookings and foul awards were not consistent with other incidents he overlooked.

I'm a fan of Watson but he had a shocker.

I pray vydra and Abdi or forestieri are fit for Monday. Would be a big loss to have all three out.

I didn't like the look of the bench much, but Tozser and especially Anya were very good changes. Anya should start on Monday. Hoban is too much of a liability with the ball.

As good as Ighalo is at attacking, I feel that In the tougher, grittier games that he is a bit of a luxury (wrong word because scoring one and making one is a massive contribution) I just feel like he could work more when we don't have possession and also not ****ing try a bumbled cruyf turn just inside our half, just after we've levelled.

Deeney and guardiora were massive. I know I've spelled his name wrong but Apple wants to call him guardiola and I can't change very letter again.
