So I would say we now have a better 3rd choice ‘keeper and a better wing option to warm the bench (apparently all he’s being used for).
Meanwhile we’ve lost our best defensive midfielder and our only attacking midfielder. We also have 2 fewer CMs overall, so we pretty much can’t play with a midfield 3 now. Great stuff.

 

We need 11 players in the next 60 minutes

 

Or to sell every player we have in the same timeframe.

We’re gliding into the summer, when the remaining assets will be stripped.

 

Let's face it - no last minute panic buy was ever going to make any difference to this team. The opportunity for carefully identifying deficiencies in the squad and addressing them on our own terms had been and gone before today, as it does in every window. The whole scattergun approach makes it difficult to care. The only shame is that the few players that I would like to base the team around going forward will likely be off in the summer. But I'm increasingly of the view that a complete reset would be no bad thing.

I think its a shame he's gone. He started the season poorly mainly because he was trying to impress & do too much, but seemed to be finding his feet and his last couple of performances showed improvement. If Quina, like Peneranda & to a lesser extent Sinclair, are seen as the clubs future then I would have thought it would be more beneficial to keep them here around the first team and getting some game time rather than sending them out on loan to bench warm somewhere. Especially given how mind numbingly static our midfield & strikers are - and a bench made of under 23's players who are only there to make up the numbers. If the club dont think they can do it at this level then they arnt going to do it at the level the club wants to get to. I dunno really, I've just had enough of some of our has beens struggling up and down the pitch

 

Well this is a real thriller of a window...

 

Quina passes the ball forward and more often than not it's on the ground and finds a teammate. I'd start him over any of the midfielders tonight except the white haired magician.

 

Hopefully everyone will finally now agree that loaning out Quina was utterly, utterly idiotic. It’s hard to overstate how stupid our owners are. Even if it was just to have an option on the bench loaning him out makes zero sense. Absolute clowns.

 

A tragic transfer window. Lose Capoue and don't replace him and we lost Garner and Quina, both added value in terms of squad players, although neither were great.

In terms of Gosling, Elliott and Zinc coming in, not bad business, but didn't address the biggest issue which is scoring goals! Not enough goals in us to go up. Last time around we had a prime Deeney, Ighalo, Vydra and Fessi with the likes of Abdi chipping in and supplying. The current group are not good enough to tie their laces.
