http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2081826/John-Goossens-decides-Swansea-move.html "Meanwhile, Swansea may allow winger David Cotterill to leave on a free transfer. The 24-year-old Wales international is interesting Reading, Watford, Leeds and Millwall."
Depends if money is more important to him than playing regular football. I can't see him being more than cover on the bench at Reading or Leeds. Millwall could also probably offer higher wages, but would anyone of a right mind want to play for them?
Cotterill is a fantastic player IMO, was a Sheff when Yeates was. Sheff mate raved about him. Thumbs up for the possibility of him coming here, would be very good.
Would love to have a decent left sided player like him here, but it begs the question what will happen to Forsyth?
So if we manage to sign Cotterill, will Forsyth be sent out on loan or used as back up if he is ready?
Would also like Cotterill here, shame he isn't left footed but seems to have played out on the left for most of his previous clubs. I honestly don't think Forsyth is that far off getting in the squad. Remember he's scored 2 or 3 goals and can be a threat when we go forward. It was his tracking back and leaving ****inson exposed which let him down, once they work on that in training and anything else he needs to improve on I'm sure he'll be there or thereabouts. I expect he'll at least be in the squad on Saturday.
Totally agree... great player... great age too. Hasnt actually played as many games as you'd think over the last few seasons but deffo the type of player I want to see here Re people harping on about wages, who says we wouldnt be able to afford them? And Millwall? Why and how could they possibly afford to pay more in wages? Their model isnt dis-similar to ours in terms of turnover / gates etc... Our wages per year are around the £9mil mark are they not? Are we saying Millwalls are higher? Granted Leeds could pay more but question is, do they need him?
I was standing behind Bas at the cashpoint today and he checked his balance. I had a quick look at he £9.98 in there so could only get £5 out. He brought some chips.
lol why are you asking me? I don't know, I'm just a n obhead behind a computer screen. Forsyth is big and knows where the goal is. If he learns to dribble and shield the ball he could be a Tommy Smith type winger, idling down the wing slowly but with the ball at his feet.
Just want to know your opinion mate  I agree he has potential but he needs to be taught how to be a winger rather than a mediocre striker (as in his play style)
I am slightly dubious as I'm sure that u cant get a fiver out of the cash point anymore..... Would be good if we can get cotterill on board
Signing Cotterill would be a borderline decision for me. He was looked upon as a bit of an enigma whilst at Swansea. Seems to have bags of potential but never fulfills it. Still only 24 but has already had several clubs. If something goes wrong for him during a game, it affects his confidence levels. He is certainly an improvement on Beattie but in my opinion, is no better than Yeates. So with us having such a tight budget, is this signing the best use of our resources? According to locals, it appears Cardiff are favourites to sign him at the moment.
I agree with this, he shouldn't be moving around so much as his age. Portsmouth had him on loan last season & seem to think they're in the race too.
He is 24 and has made over 200 first team appearances, never below the Championship. He did a great job at Sheff and frankly I can't understand anyone who wouldn't be thrilled to have him on the wing for us, especially on a free. Some of you are a mystery to me.
Have to agree, the bizarre attitude of some our fans totally astounds me. Maybe the fact he trained with Leicester today will show of them we'd of actually pulled of quite a coup in signing him, a very high quality player waiting to come out. Its a shame, he was about an hour away from signing for us on deadline day.
