Why? He wrote he hopes he gets better. So do I.

But him being ill doesn’t change your opinion of him. Let’s maybe put it aside that’s all.

But it’s a rough game. Boris has always dished our ‘robust’opinions. Would the hate for Corbyn go if he was poorly?

Not really. I did say I hope he gets better and the latest news is a bit of a shock. I wouldn't wish him any personal harm but it doesn't change what sort of a person he has proved himself to be.

Why? So if someone gets ill you are in the wrong for previously critical and well based things you have said of them?

Pretty sure if Corbyn was taken to hospital I wouldn't have gone for some absurd hyperbole about him being an antisemitic terrorist sympathiser and then posting "hope he gets better though" to cover all eventualities. Mind you the forum seems to be supporting the passive aggressive twerp so I'm happy to accept I am in the minority about being upset with how he conducts himself and move on.

    Get well Boris.

Good grief, I knew the ICU outcomes weren't great but I didn't realise they were THAT bad. That's some context which has been seriously lacking from the coverage.

Only a month ago, BoJo was boasting about shaking the hands of Coronavirus patients. Now he's in ICU with an apparent 50/50 shot. Horrendous.

Quite ironic that the bloke who 'sat on' a report that detailed London's appalling (and worsening) air quality throughout his two periods as mayor (that killed god knows how many Londoners) is seriously ill with a respiratory disease...

Yeah thanks for that patronising reply. The tweet links to a report from the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre https://www.icnarc.org/ but what would they know about it, eh?

Well in de Pfeffel's case, and bearing in mind I'm not a clinician, I would surmise that it's living in a city with, literally, criminal levels of air pollution and ignoring his own belated, half-hearted attempts, advice to stop a pandemic. HTH

Yes and it’s why there is no immediate relief with the numbers of dead dropping over the last couple of days, because there are thousands and thousands of current ICU cases with more everyday.

NorthHarrowHornet, don't ever feel you need to apologise for questioning what SLB posts. Had you spent any time on the politics section, you would know that he is wrong a lot more than he is right, and when anyone has the audacity to question him he gets upset. Yesterday, he said you were "patronising" for doubting his words that only 50% survive ICU, and he called me a "simpleton" for doubting his flawed logic in another thread. I get used to him.

Nevertheless his 50% survival comments were concerning. My daughter is in the "shielded" category due to her having a very low performing immune system. We haven't seen her for a month, and she has been speaking to her grandaughter, who lives with us, via video chat, every day at tea time. It didn't happen yesterday as she had to go in to hospital with some covid symptoms. So, there is me thinking of SLB's comments. I read his linked tweet again, and then I see he had actually linked to the report itself and sticking by what he said in his earlier post, and so it was extra concerning.

Although, I thought how strange it was, that this 50% number was based on 346 deaths, when I know that there are thousands in ICU's. After all, surely even a "simpleton" must realise something didn't ring true.

So, when I couldn't sleep last night, I looked at SLB's reports numbers. Had he not relied on the tweet, that showed just one table, and had he actually looked into the numbers, he would have realised that he was posting his normal ********, whilst potentially unnecessarily alarming people that are worried about relatives. There a few posters on here who rely on twitter for their cannon fodder, and he is one of them. I have never used a tweet link as proof of anything, and this is an example of why.

The ICNAR numbers are based on a sample of almost 3000 patients that effectively started being admitted to ICU from mid March including many straight from the community. As we know, patients don't go in to ICU with breathing problems caused by CV and come out after a day or two, they are there for weeks, 1, 2,3 or more weeks. So at the end of March (when the survey ended), out of 3000 admitted by then, only 344 people had been discharged, whilst 346 had died, which meant that SLB could proudly announce that survival rate in ICU is 50%, whilst ignoring the fact that there will still up to 2,300 alive still in ICU.

The ICNAR numbers also contain warnings how the numbers are "biased" towards longer and/or shorter length of stays, the "emerging nature of the epidemic" with only 2 effective weeks of data. They even acknowledge that they are relying on being told that people have left ICU and assumptions and that all outcomes "should be treated with caution". So the numbers do not mean that there is only 50% survival rate in ICU, although a sensationalist "simpleton" may interpret them that way.

So NorthHarrowHornet (and Arakel, who also seemed quite alarmed at it), you shouldn't take any notice of twitter, and even less notice of any tweet posted by SLB, and probably not much notice of sensationalist newspaper headlines either. All of them are just after attention.

A Sky News report claims that care homes are being asked to take COVID-19 patients.

    http://news.sky.com/story/coronavir...omes-asked-to-take-covid-19-patients-11969661

The Government claims that patients can be safely cared for in a care home, yet we know that staffing and PPE are under enormous pressure. We also know that the elderly with underlying conditions (that’s every single person in a elderly care home) are the most vulnerable with very high mortality rates. Eight residents died in this Dumbarton care home.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-52192572

To introduce the disease into care homes is an astonishing and reckless course of action.

I'm sorry about your daughter but it seems bizarre to go to town dismantling SLB in this way without mentioning the middleman who actually posted the tweet. A credible statistician working for the Financial Times, who has been one of the leading interpreters of coronavirus data for public consumption and who SLB pretty much quoted verbatim. If what you say is true, he deserves most of the fire you've aimed at SLB. And, incidentally, he appears to have deleted his tweet overnight after receiving similar challenges from elsewhere (plus some completely bonkers ones about it 'not being the time' from complete weirdos). Which I doubt SLB would be aware of yet.

After SLB then linked to the report with his criticism of NorthHarrow and his sarcastic comment about ICNARC "what would they know about it", it had me worried for about several hours.

I don't like this spreading sensationalist/alarmist stuff on social media, and when it affects me personally I dislike it even more. Maybe that is "bizarre" to call it out as you say, but you may have a different opinion if it affected you personally.

You can call it out whether you're affected personally or not. That doesn't bother me.

It's just bizarre in this case to go after SLB - which is obviously part of a personal vendetta that could have been left in the politics section - rather than the much less accessible journalist who originally posted it.

And just to follow up, my daughter is fine, she isn't causing any concern at the hospital, and will probably be kept in for a day. Nowhere near the ICU. And I have now calmed down a bit.

And, if it turns out that SLB was right with his number, and I was wrong, as I tried to put my glass half full interpretation on everything, I shall apologise wholeheartedly.

Hopefully the PM makes a full recovery, but one good thing it does is to sharpen the minds of the dimmest among us to respect the rules that are in place. I'm not suggesting the government would do this for one minute but putting the most important man in the country into intensive care is the greatest message they could send the masses to stop ****ing about.

SLB quoted the report on here, it wasn't just the journalist. I would have gone after anybody that had posted it, it just so happened he was the one poster that had a go at NorthHarrowHornet with his sarky comments so soon after having a go at me. We obviously have different interpretations of what "bizarre" is.

I see what you're getting at but are the masses really ******* about? Loads of the 'gotcha' moments highlighted by the authorities or media have soon turned out to be not exactly as first reported.
