I know his end product is poor, but it really isn’t as bad as what people think. He did create 30 goal scoring opportunities for our strikers. Even if 10 of those 30 went in, would people still be saying his end product is horrendous?

It's not about YOUR opinion, or stats, or anything. Some people just ******* hate him as if he rough-diddled and then killed their teddy bear, so anything anyone says in his favour is clearly a load of old poop.

You're not going to win this one, because Nordin is the subject of a Spanish Inquisition, not debate.

I agree with you though. Those stats seem to reflect the oft stated opinion amongst his supporters that he was suffering from Deeney and Ighalo being in the poop form of their lives whilst he was doing his damndest to provide them service...

Quite like the idea of a specialist defensive attacker sub, only brought on when we're defending a lead. If we did concede, would we have to sub him off again so we didn't need to watch him take five touches to do something that could've been done in one?

I like the bat was good watching him running at people, sometime around and sometime through, but I’m not sure that 30 chances created in 29 games is that good a rate.

I think the frustrating thing is if he could hit a good ball in to the box he would be an awesome player, it’s weird running round people is the hard bit, you would think crossing it in was a basic skill

Mrs Willis decided almost as soon as Amrabat arrived in the team that he was no good, which is unusual for her, and was delighted to see the back of him when he left. I was a little more generous and thought he linked up really well with Janmaat up the right for a spell under Walter. Then of course one or both of them got injured, the formation was changed and the partnership never recreated.

You can take the boy out of Watford but you can't take Watford out of the boy.

Watford born Gareth Southgate has today dislocated his shoulder and therefore continues our horrendous record of injured centre backs.

Early reports suggest he was tackled by the floor when he was out running.

Kevin Kilbane was saying Nordin looked a lot better vs Portugal than when playing for us. Whether you agree with him or not, it's nice to see some pundits who have actually been watching us (other than during that brief purple patch under Silva which turned out to be based on foundations of sand) take us seriously.

Amrabat is physically incapable of receiving the ball in motion and carrying on with the ball, in motion. He has never received a pass he didn't stop dead for, even if he was at the time ahead of his full back/defender. It's an incredibly prominent feature of his play, and frustrated us all on here to no end week after week when he was featuring.

Having Guerreiro on toast is hardly something to boast about; he made nine appearances totalling 500 minutes for a Dortmund side far from their Klopp-led peak last season, and the season before, when he moved to them, he played primarily as a central or left midfielder; not a left back.

I feel like people saying he gave a 'lauded defence' a tough time must be referring to a behind closed doors game or something, because Portugal's defence is geriatric and by far the weakest aspect of their side.

Carillo not harming his value here. If Peru can get out of group must be worth taking up option even if only to resell.

If the strikers in the box made some runs then this might change. Put plenty of decent balls in but nobody there so he stops doing that and starts holding on to the ball but gets criticised for that as well. I liked him and would certainly not be unhappy if he was here next season. Silva was very annoyed we sent him out on loan

When enough sets of strikers have failed to get on the end of his crosses, for clubs and countries then maybe it's the crosses, not the strikers.

Back to Valon Behrami. Thought he put in another good performance for the Swiss tonight against Serbia. Wily old team the Swiss and had a bit of luck when two of their players wrestled Mitrovic to the ground in the box. Enjoyable end to the game with Shaquiri scoring on the break. Serbia probably need to beat Brazil now.

VAR isn't the problem it's the inconsistent application of the rules. Clearly the team is there to immediately alert the referee to review matters when a major incident occurs. I can only assume they were on their tea break because a chimp sitting in front of the camera would have spotted that one!

Be interesting to see if the Swiss players are reprimanded for their clearly political celebrations too in support of Albania.

    Neutral my ****.

To pLay devil'sadvocate, Albania and indeed Kosovo are not exactly controversial entities. Only Russia and Serbia I believe have an issue with the existence of Kosovo.

I'm no expert on the history but it seems to me that the issue is with the Serbian people who would be offended by a reference to the Albanian Eagle rather than the Eagle itself.

No, only about 100 countries have recognised Kosovo. Spain and Slovakia haven't and Liberia this week reversed their recognition.

The Kosovo liberation army was internationally regarded as a terririst organisation for years. The Serbs were brutal with the albanians but would argue that they played the media and got NATO to fight the war for them. The deal offered to the Serbs to not bomb them included NATO troops being allowed to do whatever they wanted across Serbia and Montenegro, not just Kosovo, which no country would accept.

The Serbs and Albanians are as bad as each other but the Serbs are too proud / stupid to use the media in their favour. Shaqiri and Xhaka's eagle celebration is probably the equivalent of if Mitrovi* had scored and proceeded to do the Serb 3 finger military salute or rolled up his sleeve to show a tattoo of Arkan (I don't believe Mitrovi* has such a tattoo by the way).

Thanks. Obviously I had a very limited understanding. Will do some reading as it's recent history but a big blind spot for me.
