It's the fourth and fifth lines I can't determine. I just mumble 'in this moment'.

True, but my point is that Brighton have (sometimes) taken the option, whereas most clubs don't even where omitting the accent is incorrect.

No, not since the spelling reforms in the 90's and the Swiss and Austrians dumped it in the 60's(?).
    • ß is used after diphthongs (beißen [ˈbaɪ̯sn̩] ‘to bite’)
    • ß is used after long vowels (gr*ßen [ˈɡʁyːsn̩] ‘to greet’)
    • ss is used after short vowels (k*ssen [ˈkʏsn̩] ‘to kiss’)

Does anyone know what the banner unveiled in the 1881 section at the end of the game said? I couldn't see from where I was sitting.

There is a lot of sense in what you say, but it doesn't bare too much examination when it appears to be used to infer Gino is a tight fisted old git.

Gino's got his man. A man who understands the realities of trying to build a small town football club into European competitors knocking on the door of the top six. Good on Gino and good on Javi, and maybe lets give them both a chance to prove their worth, though the less entitled might say Gino has already proved his intent. And his ability to work towards achieving it.

Pozzo is not necessarily tight fisted. Perhaps he just no longer has the resources to compete and must rely on Gracia to work miracles. It isn't necessarily by choice.

    The approximate investments by manager:
    Quique: £60m invested
    Wally: £10m invested
    Silva: £50m invested
    Gracia: £20m profit

There is an argument some expense can be shuffled around - eg Peneranda not really fair to "cost" to QSF, same Doucoure who should go against Wally I suppose I expect this summer to be a profitable one as well as Doucoure will leave as well as probably one of our strikers, and we'll buy more Wilmot/Quina/Navarro/Sema prospects to add to some loan prospects coming back.

The approach seems to have changed (over 3 windows now), and Gracia is happy to work with what he has. He has improved Holebas and Janmaat beyond recognition. Deeney is playing in same form not seen since Quique. I am convinced Gracia will be able to get some prolonged form out of Gray.

The guy has done brilliantly, and he has not had any significant signings like others have been given (Delefeou the only one, but that is offset by Richarlison being replaced by the woeful Sema). I think 90% of other managers would have this squad down in Newcastle's position and be moaning away like Rafa Benitez.

No need to appogise for that. I think you were totally within reason to say what you did. You make fair points and maybe myself and everyone else can learn from such an upfront statement.

Everybody is entitled to their views and the whole point of a forum is to discuss such things. We all pull for the same side on here and its healthy to have debates. Thank you. You havd given us all plenty to think about in accordance to the subject matter.

I think the aim was to invest extensively to establish ourselves in the top flight. We now have one of the best squads outside the top 6 even though it cost a relatively low net spend to assemble. We also have good prospects out on loan. I believe if £60m were needed to bolster the squad Gino would pay it. However, we have a core of quality young players that we could build the squad around for years to come.

What you are saying would have more relevance, I believe, if the guy you were talking about was not Gino and the team wasn't Watford.

Duxbury constantly makes the point, and Javi has said he buys into it, that we don't buy for the coach, we buy for the squad. And although you are right to say his balance since Javi signed is in the black, it is also fair to say that Gracia is currently in possession of the strongest squad we have had since the eighties.

So I think it is fair to say that Gino is chugging along according to plan. I think with this year to consolidate, we will be in a stronger position next season, and even then, I do not see the need to spend big to get what we need.

Javi has benefitted from years of good investment. That, to me at least, is worth more than constant spending on players who are not necessarily upgrades.

We are now fishing in a very small pool for players that would enhance the squad and team. They need to be better than what we have got yet not big enough to break the salary structure of the club. They are unlikely to be of the level that expects to play Champions league yet internationals or hot prospects that can improve us before moving on to somewhere better i.e. Champions league teams. We will not buy anyone being quoted at 30m + and indeed unlikely to be in excess of 20m and whilst we might buy one around that price the majority will be between free and 10m.

From the Everon boards, made me chuckle!

"The goddamn players are tired...... those fake pathetic jokes that we give our support and this week alone we sung our hearts out at Watford to support and try to inspire those pathetic creeps.....

We work like idiots, sometimes through the night to then turn up along County road at 5, 6, 7, in the morning to wait to catch a coach half way across the country whilst paying the better half of a days pay for the privilege of it. We drink crap warm beer that we've had to bring on because we get treated at every stage of our day like second class citizens.

We then get off, get searched, shoved, pushed and prodded into tiny corners off football grounds, your rights are less than someone in a tinpot dictatorship country once your a football away fan....

In the meantime our glorious overlord players fly down the night before to their 6 star hotels, sleep in their goose feathered beds. Turn up early to the ground for the a la carte options on display, roll out half an hour before kick off to be put through a minor warm up whilst being clapped like brain surgeons performing life saving surgery, whilst all the time our glorious away fans stand and wait for at least 30 minutes at a tiny bar in the ground to pay double the money for a warm pint of piss to sing along and cheer our "Hero's" along.....

The pathetic babies after not even trying for 90 minutes don't even have the courage to walk 50 feet towards the fans who sung their hearts out at Watford for the majority of the game.....

Kenny, Davies and Pickford did approach, and to be fair they at least had a go in the game. Deulofeu got a respectful applause, for the short time he was here he at least treated the fans with a modicum of respect. Our current players don't give a flying **** and generally don't care and despise us.

Then our genius manager tells us they're all tired and those poor multi-millionaires need holidays. First they need a week off, then when they return he'll assess whether or not they'll need a warm weather break on top. It is looking likely because of the short time between games, thank god they've got 17 days off to not try or look at the away fans, never mind the 35 000 plus home fans they let down every week.

Every time I look at our poor players I think of them as Bob Cratchit's lad Tiny Tim, those poor multi-millionaires, their tiny hearts and minds broken by evil fans cheering them on, how dare we expect to win games and place pressure on these subtle souls.

"God Bless 'em all, each and every one....""

I take your points but I don’t know what you mean by “points would have more relevance if it wasn’t Gino”? He’s a normal football club owner, not a special case. He aims to get good value for his purchases like all other non top 6 clubs.

Has Pozzo given Gracia a squad that is capable of staying up? Yes.

Has Pozzo given Gracia a squad that should be top 10? No, not in opinion. The team on Saturday was purchased for under 60m and remains short of quality at CB and up front. And has Ken Sema in the starting line up.

Gracia is getting the absolute maximum from this squad and deserves massive credit. He is not simply performing to expectation. You are over estimating the quality of our squad in my view.

This is indeed the reality. Hopefully we will finally spend some of those 10m investments on centre backs, an area where Gracia is working wonders but which has been neglected for multiple transfer windows.
