Possibly. As GT says on the pre-match montage. We will challenge you to play. That works in reverse as well. Do need to work something out though as that’s a few teams recently who seem to have our number somewhat if this is the case. That said we are still grinding out reseults without playing that well. That alone is a huge improvement over the previous 3 seasons.

We will be sitting at long off when bowling to buttler from the pavillion end. Seem to be surrounded by stoke fans, which is a pity. In fact nearly everyone there seems to be from
Midlands clubs - wolves villa forest derby even Mansfield.

Left my WFC beach towel in the uk by mistake but will be in my white and black away shirt ) (2013-14 season ?) today.

As I was saying to my dad last night, we were poor against Burnley, Everton and Brighton, but have 5 points for it. Last season and before, we were getting 1 or 2 points from similar runs of bad form.

Interesting to see some saying how poorly we are playing, some more vigorously than others. I don't think it's been that bad at all but there have been a few more injuries recently and a couple of cup games where we make a lot of changes which doesn't help. Since the New Year we've played 8 games with 4 wins, 3 draws and just one defeat in the last few minutes at Spurs. Only 2 of those games have been at home and in fact the next 3 games are away as well. I would say we've been more efficient than entertaining but sometimes that's how it works and in fairness it is working. I am kind of hopeful that we stick with two up front from now on but not going to question a head coach that has got us 8th in the Premier League and could see us finish in the second highest position ever which would be some achievement.
2 home games in 2 months must be some kind of record and if you only go to home games it must almost feel like a pre season

  11. The problem with what you say is not that is wrong, but that it does not reflect the outcome. Having watched the game yesterday, I found it incredible that we ended up with two bookings during the course of play, and they got none. Did that reflect the exemplary and upstanding manner in which Everton played? I don't believe so.

Did those bookings represent a fair view of the behaviour of both sets of players? I would say absolutely not. I do not believe I am being biased and would be happy to sit through the match and do the maths on it.

However the bias expresses itself, or whether it is concious or unconcious, it is bias. As a human being, particularly one with something of an ego, bias is a natural thing that you actively have to suppress. I believe Probert was struggling to demonsrate an ability to do that yesterday. I do not think it is because we are Watford, but for some other slight, perhaps Troy's comments, or some perception about how he has been treated, or something from a previous game that makes him more aware of one player over another, or because he has given lea way to offenses earlier in the game when one team is in assension, but decides to tackle those offenses at a point where the other team has stepped up.

He was simply crap yesterday. But on top of that, I thoroughly believe that the bookings he gave for in game actions, and the small to medium decisions he made regarding player interactions, were significantly enough skewed against us to justify a claim of bias beyond any natural divergence.

I believe that, despite being crap for both teams, statistically Probert's decisions and non decisions would prove to have leaned significantly in Everton's favour. Beyond that, it is not a matter of whether or not he was biased, but what was the cause of that bias.

Did Capoue not stay down though?

There was a fair amount of rough treatment for Richarlison, but even more for Deeney. Deeney seemed to be incensed by a Richarlison challenge and left him on the ground after. I thought the Capoue incident was deliberate with Capoue falling in an accidentally deliberate sort of way. But it's a rough game and Deeney drew their fire and got on with it. Any Everton fan complaining would have to admit they got away with constant fouling and targeting of Deeney.

I agree with all you say with regard to 95% of his decisions leaned towards Everton except for the crutial decision to award us a corner incorectly! :)

Think its more down to recruitment. Cant see how we can do better than 8th with the squad we have. We have to accept that great team performances aren't going to happen week in week out and hope we get positive results when not playing well.

What you say may be spot on but isn't really relevant to my point which was that to claim that referees are systematically biased against Watford is ridiculous. The sentence I had highlighted claimed that the referee - "as usual" - was biased. This is what I took umbrage with. But, to play devil's advocate, I hazard a guess that an Everton fan could come up with a similar number of events to "prove" they were hard done by yesterday.

Yup. I have some reservations about Gracia being inflexible with his formation, but the big picture is he can't do better than this given the tools at his disposal. Pozzo hasn't backed him at all during his tenure, but Gracia just goes away and gets the job done with what he has been given.

HB1 has proven beyond any reasonable doubt (continuously) that refs are biased against the small clubs (Muff excluded) and since Everton are up there with Everton and other big clubs such as Everton they will get the benefit of every 20:80 decision. It's not that we are Watford it's just that we are not in the top Everton group of club.

  21. Gino has backed him to the extent where he can make eleven changes to the squad and still beat PL opposition on their own turf.

There are some on this forum who would have backed him by getting rid of Holebas, Deeney, Mariappa, Gray, etc., not to mention decent players in our current 'second string', so lets just be glad they are not in charge, and be happy that Javi knows what he has got and can get a tune out of them in February.

Let’s make this a one-off cup though. I’d rather not continue this every time we play Everton or against a Siva team. We’ve made our point, let’s move on.

Pozzo is blessed to have Gracia. If you look at the transfer stats the last 2 windows Gracia hasn’t been backed at all compared to almost every other club. It’s simply a statement of fact.

Gracia is doing a brilliant job to have us so high in the league. Manager of the year contender and all down to his own work.

    1. Cracking day yesterday. Absolute Loved it. One of those weekends where you watch the highlights multiple times and drink in everything watfordfc related on social media

    2. What a fantastic banner. Possibly one of the biggest ever made by a club yet no footage of it on MOTD - poor from them.

    3. Fantastic atmosphere. Really happy we found a chant to big up Javi AND put down Silva at the same time, rather than just singing Silva is a w***** etc. Not heard the crowd like that since the Ighalo days. (I miss his chant)

    4. Slightly saddened by the fact it took Silva to come to town before we (the crowd) really got behind Javi. Yes Javi has a chant but it’s not been sung loud enough - he has done wonders this season and deserves better recognition from us

    5. Didn’t understand booing of Richarlison during teams read out etc - but as soon as he started diving and feigning injury I was giving him both barrels with those others that were. Ended up a bit potty mouthed.

6.referee was utterly atrocious. Nothing short of a cheat IMO. 3 BLATANT bookings for them (breakaway near half way line, deliberate handball and kicking the ball away) plus Pickford dissent) and none given, yet he couldn’t wait to get his card out for Deeney and Hokebas - very soft bookings. Also gave several very soft fouls to them in the latter stages (esp one near Lower GT stand after about 90 mins) and gave them free kicks in very dangerous areas - yet didn’t give to us i.e Hughes dragged off ball.

    7. This time last year I could not stand Holebas, wanted him out of our club, but what a turnaround. Passion, determination, great defending - one of the first names on the teamsheet for me now. I don’t even care about his silly bookings now, keep it up Jose.

    8. Mariappa - Love this guy. Love his passion. He loves this club and is an absolute legend - and with him, Foster, Deeney, Cleverly, and Cathcart we’ve got a homegrown spine of the team who clearly like each other, put in 109% every week and who love the club. As a fan, I can’t ask for any more than that

    9. Deulofeu - shocking performances from him recently. Tries to showboat and play like Pogba but does absolutely nothing. And absolute bottles every single 50/50 - hell even 60/40’s in his favour. The man gets paid how much per week and is even scared to head the ****** ball! Man the **** up, stop f****** around and get stuck in lad!

    10. JAVI GRACIA, HE’S BETTER THAN YOU. COYH

    11. Apologies for ridiculously long post!

On point four, it may be the fact that the lyrics keep on changing for the Javi song that no one sings it. I think there about three versions of it flying around.

I liked the Javi song, but didn’t sing it as don’t know the words. Something about Russia and zero, hero was mentioned.

We need to get synchronised on this before the Cup final.

You could call our crowd generally usually quite, however the needle talked about before the match everyone knew that this was a game that had more than 3 points at stake, it had the opposition managers principles (or lack of), the about turn in form last season hurt supporters, thankfully we didn't get relegated as a result or we would have been playing the likes of Brentford yesterday.

The Players which were here last season also took it personally as the downturn also cost them win bonus etc, you could see from Janmaat, Deeney, Marriapa and Cathcart yesterday what the result meant!

As it is we got rid of the staff member, found ourselves another one and have prospered! something which didn't look very likely 12 months ago!
