I like oxtail but struggle to rid myself of the image of an ox's tail coated in dried s***.

 

an excellent soup, the chain of keg steakhouses in canada do an excellent french onion soup. a massive cheesy toast crouton sat in a jus of dark onion! delicious.

 

pretty much exactly why i steer clear, having done my fair share of farm animal medicine i think oxtails spend nearly their entire life covered in ****. this must permeate into the tail, so effectively oxtail soup is ****tail soup.

 

Had a lovely lobster bisque once. My go to has to be cream of tomato.

 

Chicken soup and not one of those yuppie ones , I like it out of a can.

if I wanna mid it up side portion of chips to dunk in it.

 

Avgolemono soup for me. Chicken, lemon, orzo pasta and egg in a chicken stock.

 

Dunk cheese sandwiches in tomato soup. It's ace.

 

Chicken noodle for me although not a big soup fan

 

Normally tomato, although whenever I’m ill with flu or something my go to is chicken noodle.

 

Delia's leek and potato. A bowl of creamy leeky potatoee goodness.

 

Chicken noodle or Cullen Skink for me, honourable mention for leek and potato.

 

Leek and Potato for me. Or a nice spiced parsnip when Xmas approaches.

 

I had an unbelievable Belgian Onion soup in Antwerp in February. Basically French Onion soup but with a layer of molten gruyere on top like a savoury brulée.

My Mum used to make me this. The thickest and simply, the most comforting soup I've ever eaten. Tried making it myself but it's never the same.

 

Yes, Cullen Skink is a wonderful soup! I had it in a cafe in Fraserburgh once. Without doubt the best soup experience of my life!

 

Nice fancy name but fish should never be in a soup. It's madness.

 

On that we shall have to disagree. They do some absolutely wonderful shell fish soups in Spain and France. And a good Lobster Bisque is hard to beat.

I'm no snob though. Heinz Cream of Tomato and a toasted cheese sandwich is one of the best lunches known to man.

 

I do love a Clam Chowder especially in a hollowed out bread edible bowl, but is this a soup?

 

Thanks for all your soups guys, keep them coming if you havnt answered yet. Im a traditional chunky veg soup kind of guy, maybe chicken in it too, obviously need a loaf of bread that you can tear up to dunk in it too. Has to be thick though, cant be doing with watery soups.

Not sure what to have for dinner tonight, will be either a korma or a Thai green curry, I dont mind which so whatever you choose I will eat.

 

Both are great but Thai GC just nudges it for me.
