Troy seems to be back at training in the Ivic interview video that's just gone up.

We don't know when that footage is from. He was definitely pictured at the ground at the beginning of pre-season so it may just be from then.

I get the point of it in other motorsports as in some the cars are more evenly matched but I cant see it working in F1 at all.

“In the meantime, it’s our responsibility to start the season with a fresh and vibrant approach right across the club.”

Deeney can't be part of the club's plans. He's the complete opposite of fresh and vibrant.

Troy spent 10 years building a pyramid of worship at the club with him at the top. He had everyone at the club either in his back pocket, eating out of the palm of his hand or under his thumb from Gino downwards. It would make an incredible psychological study of a narcissistic power structure.

I'm not surprised the Ivic power structure looks so much better due to the amount of enthusiasm and positive energy on display at the moment. But I wouldnt put it past Troy to subvert the new structure and take back control. What he created at the club for himself was spectacular. Has a single player ever had that much power at a top flight club? He had way more power than Messi at Barca. The only comparison I can think of is Maradona at Napoli.

Let's hope we can build a new structure controlled by Ivic not Troy.

Give it a few games before saying it's the answer and all is perfect ..

Certainly Saturday was encouraging performance wise but the likes of Boro and Luton wlll be very different in motivated and style of play.

This is good news.......and I'm laughing at the meltdown it will cause for many on here. But for me, I'm delighted to hear it. Sounds like Ivic wants him to be part of things.

    Quote from Ivic

"Troy was with us in the first few days," he said. "After he moved out because of some small problem he had in his knee. We hope that in the next few days he will be with us and he will continue to work and he will prepare himself for the Championship. If something happens during the transfer window, we'll see. He's the most experienced player here and he's a player who was here for the last ten years, he gave a lot for the club and all of us knows what he can give to the club when he's ready."

It's SO important to keep our better players, this is arguably more important than keeping Sarr. Recent history has shown that he can score hatfuls at this level.

A proper and sensible quote from Ivic, as i have already said, whist he is still a contracted player he deserves some degree of respect , he might be gone by the end of the transfer window but if he is still available, his experience could be beneficial for the squad.

No problem with the broader point of that. But I wish he’d learn to show respect the other way if that what you feel he should be given.

I can understand after his years of service you wanting Deeney to be treated with a degree of respect.

However, with the opportunity we now have in front of us with a new, exciting coach and fresh young players, if you still want Deeney anywhere near our team then you’ve clearly had your own meltdown.

    This is the best bit:

Isn’t his contract up next year? If it isn’t then let him go out on loan now, then if we go up again and we can loan him to a Championship club.

Yes ok, Troy, we get the message. You'd never ask for a transfer, apart from every week via the papers. Don't think I can ever remember a player so desperately pimping themself out like this, trying to convince anyone that's listening that he's still got something to offer in the Premier League. Quite tragic.

Also, his "lucrative Talksport contract" is going to be a constant distraction for whichever club he does finish up playing for this season.

"I'd never ask for a transfer, although I did say I'm open to leaving on TV literally 3 minutes after Watford were relegated, and I'm absolutely still good enough for the Premier League, definitely... promise... come on guys, make an offer... please.

But I'd never ask to leave Watford. Never (but seriously I'm good enough still and totally available)".

"Insiders say that the club will not block a move for their captain should they receive an offer they feel meets his value."

That "value" is clearly £0, as long as the club is willing to take on Deeney's wages. Yet, there still appear to be no offers.

Going to be a harsh reality for Deeney when he’s stuck with us after no-one wants him in the Prem. I’m sure he has both speeches prepared.

    Speech #1 - Told you I’m a Prem striker
Speech #2 - Told you my heart is Watford’s

Yep, agreed. I'm sure they'd give him a free transfer after the ten years to get him off our books. But then he'd want at contract for a couple of years and a signing on fee. And he'd obviously want that contract to match ours, where he's being paid 'talisman wages'.

Can see this ending in a very sour way. For all the chat about being a "big man", he's clearly quite insecure and I've no doubt he'll kick off if he has to stay and isn't guaranteed a starting spot.

Irritatingly, if he could accept being just another member of the squad and not its leading light, he could easily play some role this season as a second striker behind Gray or Suarez.

For me the big thing in the Ivic update on Troy is that he’s still having trouble with his knee and has moved out of main training because of it when Troy has been saying he completely over his knee problems “I played on one leg last season” and is fit and ready to go.
Doesn’t sound like he is. Who in the Premier league would gamble on him having ongoing knee issues?

A player that’s fit and ready to go wouldn’t be having a pre-arranged photoshoot and interview outside a Harley Street physio. He was lying to look more appealing to buyers.
