A very odd decision. Can only guess the board think we will defend better under him. Boring though his style is.
I liked JG, but his time was up.

A sensible choice. Will make us a lot harder to break down.

I can see a lot of 1-0 or 2-1's The likes of Geri and Pereyra will need to work harder defensively

I can only see this as a short term fix. We need the defence sorting out, and QSF did a very good job of that in his first spell.

I don't think many will deny Javi should go. We were shockingly under-prepared after pre-season. I think the Brighton match pretty much sealed his fate, and the other games were just to see if he could pull it around.

I hope Flores can get a response, however, my concern is things went sour with him at the end. All the stories of not turning up to training and being lenient with players etc. I'm really surprised the board have gone back to him. We still have a lot of players still at the club who would have played under him, so he might get that instant improvement, as there will could be an air of familiarity.

Not saying it's a bad appointment, just I'm very surprised by it and I wouldn't be amazed if it didn't go quite as well as last time.

I would expect his job to be under threat after the first 3 games.

    I love 1-0’s and 2-1’s a lot better than 0-3’s and 1-3’s

One good thing about QSF the last time round is that it looked like the attacking players were putting in a shift with the defensive work. Work hard on the pitch or you're out. Pereyra will be ******** in his pants.

The QSF era ended very similarly to the Gracia era. Maybe he’ll be able to make an immediate impact but it went sour before and it will again. There’s a reason it was not an unpopular decision to fire him before.

I liked JG, but he lost his way. QSF's style is ultra dull, but survival is a must for the financial security/future of Watford FC and the protection of the Pozzo investment.
Relegation would leave us in freefall..

I would agree that it’s a short term fix, but we need it. I am not surprised in the slightest. I thought he did well with a limited squad. We needed a change and whilst we could have gone for a new progressive manager, that may take time to work. If we work on the basis that we will lose the next 2, we will have 1 point from 6. We don’t have time for a progressive manager, we need to start grinding out some results

That i believe didn't happen. I think i know what happened the last time and i said it at the time on here. I think the Pozzos realise their mistake now and both parties have kissed and made up and giving it another go.

Now we know it's a possibility, I wouldn't be against JG coming back again in a few months' time, once QSF has steadied the ship and then, subsequently, lost his way again.

QSF returns. It's a bit like when GT returned....

Well, not to that level. I like the appointment. I was worried we might get

    IAN DOWIE ( shudders )

He's a good defensive minded coach who should do well, and let's face it we can hardly do worse. It needed fixing, and this is hopefully the first step to making it happen. Now all we need to do is get the defence working as a unit, bench Foster and give Dhalberg or Buch a few games. Britos and Mapps? Erm.. hope not. One thing I will also say about him..

The man can wear a scarf and sweater.

    Welcome back QSF.

I remember QSF said something along the lines of it greatly disappointed we when the board were not delighted by the FA Cup semi final achievement. They didn't show any passion or pleasure.

I don't remember the exact quote, and although the parting previously was "amicable" there did seem to be big differences. Amazing what the passing of time can achieve.

The defence is going to take some sorting out; but it is not just a back four thing -- the whole team do not cover for them properly. The overall defensive organisation is very poor and needs changing. I suppose if he can achieve that he will have 'done a job' for us. But he's not my favourite ever appointment: I remember the end half of his first time here and it was relegation fare and frustrating and boring into the bargain.

I'm not furious at the appointment because QSF is a bad manager but more so with those in charge.

It smacks of desperation and resignation.

By appointing such a defensive coach Gino has clearly accept how poor our defence squad is after 4 games yet didn't try harder to improve it for two months? It's poor management of the transfer window and recruitment.

I'm sure we'll stay up with some 1-0's and men behind the ball but on the basis of what we saw last time QSF was here this is a waste of an appointment already because is he really going to take us any further with progressive and attacking football in the future anyway?

    Shame.

If he gets anything out of the next two games it will be " bonus time " although to be fair we will need some points from the top six, after such a miserable start!

It’s intriguing really. The Pozzos didn’t seem to think that Quique had another dimension to offer after a pragmatic first season.

They must be quite panicked and believe that time to shore this up is in short supply.
