That witless sap, who wears the daft shirts has just reported from Vicarage Road for SSN.
He said QSF took us to a cup final and our major problem at present was a lack of goals.
I've a pint of milk that would be more accurate.

I have had a look back at QSF's last season in charge. Of the games we have left he took 38 points last time around (substituting Burnley,Brighton and Sheffield Utd for Sunderland,Stoke and Swansea). This would give us 39 points against his previous achievement of 45.
He needs to hit the ground running and improve on last time if his appointment is to help us. I am not optimistic.

My least favourite manager of the Pozzo era has returned.

90 minutes of every player behind the ball, however without a player with the potential to go on a ridiculous scoring run, we’re in a lot of trouble.

Gino has absolutely run out of ideas. 20-30m on a decent CB and a decent manager and I think we’d be pushing for Europe.

With our defence and Quique, watching Watford is going to be HORRIBLE.

Prodl to be brought back in from the cold? Replaced in the cold by Holebas?

Either way, I can't wait for the first pictures/interview with the returning QSF. I'd leave my wife and kid to be with that man.

Nice. It's fairly obvious this will end with him gone by the end of the season and the football will be dull. The only question is whether he keeps us up or not. Either wat, it'll be back to the drawing board in the summer.

I believe they have rebranded No Deal Brexit, and come up with Clean Break Brexit. Supposedly sounds less ominous.

Indeed. The best case scenario here is a dull survival and a new coach in the summer.

This season is not gonna be fun.

I expect the email address to enable people to release their season tickets will be inundated at times this season.

As others have said he had us playing a hideous, negative style of football for the majority of his first reign, but that was with a far weaker squad and abysmal attacking options, and I can only hope it was because it was the only way he thought he could keep us up at the time.

If he can make us a little more solid defensively as we might expect but also be a little more adventurous this time with so much more attacking talent at his disposal then who knows, maybe this'll work out.

He's also not a gurning gremlin which earns him a bonus point from the off.

The Shenhua board are a bunch of madmen to be fair, I wouldn't take their word as gospel, they are an absolute mess and he did well to just keep their heads above water. Haven't lived in Shanghai for a while, but my expat friends who still live there are regulars and were sad to see him leave

Indeed and I think these events should the ones that are cited whenever Duxbury, Pozzo or combination of the two bang on about being 'best of the rest' or winning cups.

The only concern is retaining the Premier League money. No other.

A great season for returns. First they bring back Z-Cars, now QSF. It'll probably end with a return to the Championship.

Absolutely, but right now we just need someone who can keep us up, at this stage I don't know and don't care who will be in charge next summer

I’ve quoted your post, but many on here are making the same argument.

I’m Quique’s first spell, we played abysmal football even against teams where our line up was superior.

We may suddenly play better, but there’s no evidence to suggest we will.

He’s Tony Pullis, albeit a a far more handsome version.

We are bottom of the league with a badly organised, poor defence that also always has a mistake in it. And a team as a whole who can’t defend. Every man behind the ball seems a ******* good strategy to me.

We have players who can potentially score. Given the confidence we will get with some clean sheets this will grow. Any number of 5-6 players we have potentially can go on scoring streaks. QSF likes the team to pass and counter attack.

Or would you prefer we continue hoof ball to Deeney (too old now) or Gray ( too short) and both utterly ineffective in this strategy. Whilst defending like a plate of hot jelly with holes in it

At first I was totally and utterly shocked by this, but having slept on it it now makes absolute sense.

We just pursued Everton for an unwarranted approach for our manager and won compensation for it, we, of all all clubs would have to be very very careful about which manager we went after.

Wether it was right or wrong to get rid of Gracia (fwiw sadly I think it was the right decision) then we had to appoint somebody, but generally good managers are normally in jobs, I’ve no doubt we’ve got a different manager to QSF in mind, but if he’s currently in a job what exactly do we do?

Also, whoever we have in mind as next manager will no doubt be someone a lot more progressive than QSF, but we’ve now got a hideous run of games with only 1 point on the board. Chucking somebody in now that has a new style of play could be as suicidal for them and us. They could be the best manager in the world but if it took them 10 games to get things going in the right direction he would be toast along with us. It would be a waste of an appointment.

Any new manager that we have hope of moving the club forward needs a clean slate and a pre season, not one point and a months worth of unwinnable games.

Remember under QSF Gueds was our flare player! We used to pull our hair out because he didn’t trust him, he was a ******* championship player! We’ve now got a squad of players infinitely better than gueds to choose from.

This is the first season with no truly awful clubs in the league, we’re bottom with one point and we’ve now got a run of near impossible games coming up. QSF is entirely the right appointment at this stage.

It may seem strange, wrong, weird, a step backwards, etc.. in reality it’s all of those things, but if you value our premier league status short of appointing BFS this is an absolute master stroke IMO.

The football may be awful, it may not be, but personally I want to stay up and at this stage this is all that matters.

I actually think it also speaks volumes about our club, I don’t think we actually sacked QSF I think we/he exercised the break clause.. but the fact the t we remained on good enough terms with him to reappoint him shows real class of you ask me.

I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing what he does with an infinitely more talented front 6, and of nothing else we now have the best looking manager in the PL again.

If we can beat the teams who are likely finish bottom 10, get an average 1 points per game from the teams in 7th-10th and get a minimum 9 points from games vs top 6, then this could well be a good appointment and I'm prepared to go in record with that.

The thing I remember was just how unnecessary it was.

I remember that pattern of working the ball got Jurado, out in space on the wing. We would commit nobody into the box and then, seeing that a 90% certainty of a goal was not on, Jurado would turn inside and back and play the ball back to the deepest midfielder.

It wasn't about ability, it was about risk. QSF's risk appetite was as close to zero as it's possible to get, at least in attack. By fielding a team of 10 players whose job it is to not concede a goal, he tipped the balance in favour of defence, however, relying on isolated strikers to score all your goals will only work if they create many openings between them and then take most of their few chances. I can't see that being a viable tactic with our strikers, as it wasn't once ighalo lost his golden touch.

That's a snappy one-liner, but it overlooks the fact that Watford had an extremely limited squad at the time and they had barely tried to improve it in the close season.

With considerably better forward players than his first spell he may play differently - I think we will play fast counter attacking football .... let’s give the bloke a (another) chance

What makes me laugh about the posts about his style of football was that when we were around 8th by Xmas hardly anyone mentioned it and some were dreaming of Europe. When the results didn't come after that people then started saying it was boring and horrible to watch. Just goes to show its a results based business. Nobody will be happy until we start winning.
